Halls are gender-segregated by floors. Odd number floors are male-only, even numbers female. But you might get an occasional male staying on the 4th floor coz not enough rooms I guess.

Hall policy regarding electrical appliances, need to check with respective halls coz the details are a bit fuzzy THB.

@tanjinjack, need some guidance here. How do one study for a Materials test? Or rather, how do one prepare for it? What are the information/knowledge that would be useful for a Materials test? First test and there's so much to cover.

Mechanical is a gay fest. It's the most populous among 1st year engineering (i've compared when signing attendence sheet during maths), and by probability should have some amount of females, but, nope, it's a gay fest alright. Probably the last place to find girls. There're about 10 of them is a class of close to 130.

Science stream i guess chemical and pharmacy is known for having a healthy population of female students. Pharm has 70% girls IINM.

Girl talk aside, from time to time ppl here will organise some party (w/ alcohol involved), either to Sunway or a bar nearby. That's about it for nightlife I guess.

With regard to MechEng here, I say it's awesome? Can't think of a better way to conduct the program.

@tanjinjack, may I suggest a proposal?

Put a link to your signature to the post where you explain the difference (like the one you just did). That way you just have to copy pasta, or ppl can click on it when they see it.

this RM1K thing occurring to Malaysians is a new thing. Several other forummers have mentioned the same thing. Anyone emailed the admissions office for clarification? Seriously they reply emails quite fast one.

This was never the case when i applied, which was in 2010. They even couriered me the offer letter before I accepted the offer (which was about a few days after they emailed the soft copy). Weirdly enough on the website the only fee they mentioned was tuition fees. No advance payments of tuition fees thru some form of deposit.

I wasn't talking about offer inquiries. I was talking about general inquiries. I emailed them before about an application day wayyy before I applied. They replied the next day.

Dunno, maybe they changed their policies regarding customer service. lol.

anyway, they shouldn't charge anything that they did not advertise, even if it's for advance payment. Ppl are not prepared to pay this money and it's a deterrent to applicants if this thing get to spread. Monash advertises their RM100 application fee for locals. And the way it works is ppl get offers, and consider the offers, not confirm offer straightaway.

Therefore I suspect miscommunication. A change in policy is not a good thing, especially this kind of 'hidden charge'. UNMC advertises a 'no hidden charge' policy (if I remember correctly, don't quote me), so it's weird for them to do these kind of things.

MEng IS masters. No point pursuing MSc because you are eligible to do a PhD right after MEng. MSc is more commonly done by BEng holders.

The above applies to the UK degree system.

technical questions regarding admissions, it's best to contact the university directly. They are the ones who will be dealing with it after all.

I'm gonna miss the convenience of staying on-campus. Wouldn't have went to watch the talent quest if I didn't stay on-campus.

Android club would be awesome considering the amount of iPhones and Blackberries out there. No joke the first thing I notice when I step foot into the campus is the prevalence of iPhones (esp the 4) and blackberries and the 5800 XM.

Groin gets a tingling sensation whenever I see the odd SGS and Desire. LOL.

But what does an Android Club do though? Later got iPhone club and BB club. haha

Oh? I thought I saw Dr Albert using a big screen phone. He changed recently ah? Aria so cheapskate ah hahaha. I know Dr Yousif using a DHD. Saw the green fella appearing when he picked up a call. You think they're really android fanboys or just buying coz it's a good phone to use?

I dunno but I dun feel safe with the one-clicks out there. At least I can trace back the paths in case I need to unroot with the adb method.

LOL @ talk about androids.

yeah was surprised to learn that rooting the desire doesn't involve s-off-ing, which is very needed for my DZ.

If the lecturers are ultra geeks that tinker with their phones like us, it'll be very interesting indeed. Imagine them coming into the room one day and say 'I bricked mah phoneee!!!!'. lol

I'm having a GTalk/Market related problem with the WiFi in campus. It doesn't let me sign into GTalk, which effectively puts me stuck in 'downloading' when downloading an app. My home wifi and a wifi at a restaurant near tesco there lets me download just fine. Problem started about a month ago, when i tried to download apps off the web market. Clicked 'install' on web market, the order appeared on my phone, but never started downloading. It stuck there forever and ever. Doesn't work even if I stop and re-initiate download. Download stalls for other apps as well.

I have a good feeling a restart at the IS part would've solved it.
