i want to ask a consol Q , when calculating goodwill, the identifiable net asset is share capital + pre- acquisition reserves.

for that pre-acquisition reserves, does it include all reserve? like forex reserves included or not?

QUOTE(karhoe @ Jul 14 2010, 06:38 PM)
Well, should be !

If the forex reserves exists during the pre-acquistion then have to include.any reserves which exist and the fair value can be identified during the pre-acquisition then include.
correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure with my answers. smile.gif

Hi, i am  ACCA affiliate Dec 09.About graduation ceremony, below was the email that UK officer replied to me.
javascript:emoticon(':(')

ACCA have taken a decision to dispense with graduation ceremonies for those who successfully complete the ACCA qualification. This business decision was taken after a number of factors were considered.

ACCA believe that completion of the ACCA qualification is a major step towards ACCA Membership and should not be seen as a singular achievement. We would hope that all graduates would see the completion of the required examinations as one part of an overall process which will result in membership, and subsequently fellowship, of the association and, of course, give them the right to use the prestigious accreditation of ACCA and FCCA.

As ACCA offer a global qualification the numbers who were able to attend graduation ceremonies, where applicable, were not sufficient to continue holding them on an annual basis.

In today's competitive marketplace, it is often required that you have not only the academic achievement but relevant 'hands on' experience to show prospective employers that you possess all of the skills applicable to the positions available. ACCA believe that a more rounded approach, in terms of examination success linked to practical experience, will continue to maintain our status as the leading global accountancy body.

All students who successfully complete the ACCA qualification will be able to submit an application for a ACCA Affiliate certificate and we will continue to list the applicable detail on the passed finalist database.

Technically speaking, any forex effects would have factored in at the point of acquistion in your fair value. So, I think even though if ur 'target' has forex reserves at the date when you acquire, your fair value assessment at the point in time is inclusive of everything, therefore subsequent to that, for your group consolidation purposes, there is no forex reserve at the date of acquisition. So, I think you can ignore your target's forex reserves.

What I mean, is the fair value adjustment at the point of acquistion would have reflected all the fair value adjustments (either arising from forex or other items) What I would personally do, is just reassess all assets and liabilities, and fair value & translate them at the date of acquisition, then from there just compare wif your COI la, and for your own group's purposes, any forex reserve would start from that day onwards.

If you enter the firm after completing acca, they do not care.
If you enter the firm without one / not in final stage of completion then must take tax and audit cos its relevant.

Well first you need to convince them why they should hire you not their own local people. Singaporeans view us like we view Indonesians (hence come the kiasu term). But there are many exceptions to such rule. Currently Singapore has revised their salary range, so a lot are jumping there to take advantage of these.
