IMHO, it works the other way around, since you can only do your visa within 3 months before you departure date, ticket price would be exorbitant by then in most cases, as most airlines do promotion for early purchase only nowadays.

Thing that people do not know is that, if you application got rejected without strong reason (like being blacklisted in either Malaysia or Japanese institutions such as financial, telco and etc). Then, you can always reapply unlimitedly until your visa application is approved. This would typically be true if the reason your that application was rejected was because your documents is not convincing enough (like bank statement, company letter, and etc).

Not everyone is free to visit the embassy as they wish. Plus, you need those printed statements stamped by bank officers. I would prefer to get it done on first try; i don't know some people like to sit in embassy's lobby and enjoy their aircond tongue.gif

You can apply for visa with a stated intended travel date on the application. The visa will come in force once you pass through Japan's immigration and day 1 kicks in from then. I did mine 4 months before my travel date and bought the air ticket a week after i obtained the visa.

Not necessarily everyone should use my method; it's just an advice.

Thanks for the reply guys smile.gif. Most probably gonna book em already.

Also, anyone here has any experience of bringing in more guest than actually allowed in a hotel room? Meaning 1 room but 2 or 3people staying inside. Do they check regularly for these kind of stuff?

Ah, why want to do things like that.

Worst come to worst if they find out, upon check out, they will charge you the extra pax and not sure if they'll blacklist your name for doing such things or not.

i think they will charge only because asking you to leave is impolite and blacklist someone's name due to that reason is too harsh hmm.gif

Shazzac, it's common courtesy to declare the number of guests in Japan. Of course, you can choose not to heed them, but i believe one should respect their culture in their homeland.

Even at some eateries, you (couples) aren't supposed to share a set meal ! One person one set ! laugh.gif

Thanks for the advice people smile.gif.
Unfortunately i have no choice due to the expensive price. I'll be going there to work, but i would like my family members to experience life in Tokyo as well as to sightsee. It isnt a justification of why i should do it tho.

NO. you need a visa even if you are only going to enter Japan for 12hours.

I think you will be granted visa on arrival for korea. No need to have prior application like Japan/US/Canada etc.

Edited: Sorry, i typed wrongly the 'don't'. So taken out dy.

You do not need confirmed flight ticket to apply for your visa, and doing an itinerary for visa application should take only 10 minutes of your time. Typically, I make it as generic as a trip to Japan could be. If you think that going to embassy to send/receive the application by yourself as a hassle, then pay some travel agency to do that for you. I would rather get my visa earlier, then getting stuck at the airport for not being given visa on arrival, which means not being able to meet a friend in your case.

*btw, I would recommend to apply visa for holiday and transit, unless you don't have the financial proof to support your trip to Japan..

Technically that is not correct as there are actually a visa-exemption arrangements between the Malaysia and Japan.
Nevertheless,  the word I would use here is that it is strongly recommended to apply for visa before arrival.
