hi there, how do i get the Singapore license with my Malaysia B2 license? Did I need to take any test?
*
Sing license is DIFFerent. U can't get sing lic unless u perform the test and get the grading for 1st level. After x years, upgrade to higher license level (to use higher than 250cc bike, and so on)

(last I known) to own a sing bike, you may have to use international driving license, which you can get it from jpj here.

Sing PR has advantage!

Added on March 1, 2010, 3:13 pmTS,

All the opinions here are valid/good. It depends on how's ur attitude on riding. Given a cubchai, a rempit way can go more than 160km/h, no sweat.

ER6 is good for beginner (for a few months if your skill pickup REAL fast or your demand is much higher...), a 600 supersport (ZX6r, CBR600 RR, R6) can last longer. BUT - u pay the price of learning diificulties coz they'r mean, unforgiving machines if u make mistakes.

get a 2nd hand to thrash and learn. Get a good s-sport once u've learn to handle a mean-machine.

gud luck!

honestly, getting a singaporean bike is not that fun.
even though its really cheap to buy.

you have to pay singaporean road tax

you have to get a COE.

perhaps it would be more useful if you were from JB and worked in singapore?

TS:

I think you can try "berjinak jinak" with a ZXR 250. THis bike is a screamer. Light enough for a beginner but only Rm 10-14k.
I dont think you want to use it for daily rides though. sayang la tayar tu cepat makan.

sometimes if the person is rich enough, maybe the sing bike can be used for Track usage. wakakakak. dont you think so?
As far as I know, track bikes dont need to be registered.

Yes, COE costs a bom.

Hassle on yearly inspection, Sing insurance renewal, M'sia insurance renewal, etc.

That y i still ride a m'sian sbk eventho sing/thai bike is "relatively" cheap.

junbecks said the line - sing bikes are onli good for jb folks, work in sing perhaps.

KL fellas will still have to stick to sucking expensive bikes! mad.gif

On d other hand, zxr250 runs into slightly more maintenance fee than d new ninja250.

Cost wise : zxr250 - $12~14K; Ninja250 - $16~17K (2nd hand)

Make up your mind... sweat.gif

The thing is, even if you already have all the documents ready, our JPJ and Custom here dont really like seeing Malaysian riding Singapore or Thailand registered bike.

Thats the facht.

First timer? Dont touch the 600 or liter bike yet, get yourself 150cc 2 stroke first.

Dont commit suicide.

Well, here is the problem :

You are comparing the modest, everyday usage ER6N against all those track focused sportsbike TS shown.

While the ER6N have two cylinder 650cc, if you pit it against a four cylinder R6 ("only" 600cc) guess who will win?

Kawasaki trying to market the ER6n as the bike for beginners, did you ever see them market their ZX6RR as bike for beginners? No?

150kph? Even the cheap 2stroker ZX150 can reach 150kph with beginners rider easily bro.

In the end, it depends why you want the bike? Everyday "uncle" ride or "proper" sportsbike riding?

agree with eyra to a certain extend... er6n is indeed a good commuter bike .. i own 1 myself.. the only reason why many ppl wont push er6n to the max speed of around 220km/h is becoz of lackin windshield.. wind running against you will put a termendous pressure on ur nect.. coz afterall er6n is being categorised under "naked" category. a decent givi, puig or ermax windshield will solve the hiccup.

but in terms of track performance with condition given same riding skill... er6n will pawned higher cc bike due to its torque mapping... er6n require less gear changing time as compare to bigger cc... but if straight road all the way.. definitely bigger cc will win...

i would like to see zx150 hit 150kph constantly for more than 1 hour... rclxub.gif riding above 200kph with one slight mistake could probably book you one way ticket to paradise.

riding a bike its not about speed... its about passion & safety.. not to forget reliability and cost of maintenance

get a bike that suits or meet your requirement.

Those liter bikes(1000cc) are maybe your dream bike but I don't think you shall get it for your first bike.. even a 600cc sport bikes are not easy to control. 1000cc sport bikes are absolutely not for beginner. 1 mistake could bring you to death and there's no way to buy back your life with money.

the 250r 16k is registered in Malaysia and the R1 is SG registered yea.. Hmm.. Still, it's kind of a funny and stupid way to choose a 1000cc as a starter bike. your wrist have no idea how powerful is that thing under that beast. wrong throttle response gonna take your front wheel up into air and make you stand on your seat before you crash into anything. I'll suggest get a 600cc instead of 1000cc for first bike if you give full respect to it and take it real slow. 1000cc bikes are much more heavier than 600cc. SO! BE SMART nod.gif

same condition like TS, only that i got dilemma in choosing my first bikes..
but no sing bikes for me..since all are above 600. planning to take normal license. after browsing so many bikes in Mudah.com, my choice comes to few..

Kawasaki ZXR250 97-99 model. price around 10-15k.. ( the only bike that looks like 250 while have a great sound)..unlike the 250R now.. sad.gif

Cagiva Mito 125 cc year 2008 - Rm14-15k.. i've seen the review..n out of 10 riders, 10 say the bikes is hard on maintenance.. spare parts n all are hard to find (really?) but performance wise is superb (for a 125cc..).

I mainly chose this two becoz of their looks n reputation. n ofcoz, the decent prize. If comparing on maintenance, the Cagiva Mito sure gives lots of headache, but on the bright side, it got this Ducati 916 Senna looks ( since same designer..) both can reach 180km/h..n both have wide tyre at the back (which is very cool for a small cc bikes)..

So guys, since i'm kinda new n never ride any bikes before, which do u think is the best? i hardly hit the highways n long distance.. all are city range.

i suggest fz150 or cbr 150, coz less maintenance than zxr250 n cagiva mito...if u still insist go for zxr250, but u must have rm3k as a backup if anything go wrong...if u own this bike, u must extra care n know a bit about ur bike...coz this bike really 'manja'...be a alert that when using this bike, the way of riding it a little bit different from cupchai...

hmm if that's the case, i think i can handle the maintenance. but not sure about the handling ur talking about, since i never ride any bikes before. Is it a good practice before i move on to superbike? the ZXR250 n Cagiva Mito.

Nice. I did think a lot before deciding on these two. Previously was so tempting to get the Kawa ERn, but after some serious thought, i think that bike is kinda expensive to get.. Rm30k can get a satria gti now ( Well, i opt to get a bike coz i wanna save money..currently driving swift, but i doubt so with the Cagiva..haha.. bloody expensive..but the looks..aihh..tempting too!).

my source are fully from motorcycle.com and mudah. hahaha..

So what are u riding now?

btw, cool link bro. these guy have damn lots of videos! icon_rolleyes.gif

besides..i dont wanna crash my 1st superbike..cos my parents sponsored me 10k for my transport and i chosen bike..passion* if u kno what i'm saying..hehe..

with budget of 10k, u can get lots of bikes with decent power. If i have that money now, i will buy any Zxr model 1997-99. Some of the bikes are really taken care of.

http://www.mudah.my/Kawasaki-ninja-zxr-250-5026095.htm

this is one hell of a good example notworthy.gif

Blade 250r..hmm, not sure about this one. Heard the previous model before the year 2008 have so many probs. But recently most people vote this bikes(ofcoz, the 2008 n 2009 model) for its realibility). but then again, i am not sure. tempting too coz the new price is much cheaper than new kawa. I've read sumwher too that now Naza gave extend period of discount.. around Rm14k i think.. not bad for such a looker cool2.gif

The two strokes..hmm i might think of it its jaz like RX7 in terms of car. laugh.gif evy 2 full tank have to top up oil engine sweat.gif

So have u decide which bike to go for?

But i was thinking..if i would buy a 1997 zxr this year..after 3 years lets say..omg..the bike is 16 years old..if i spend on a 08 250r..after three years its only 5 years..erm..sometimes really hard deciding which is the best choice ...
but seriously..i;m currently staying in Sban..U kno wat..is so damn hard to find 2nd superbike here..we have only one shop selling superbike ..and the price..sigh..1997 zxr250 with lousy paint and many scratches..exhaust with uneven surface..30% of tyre remaining(strips)..the boss give me 14.5 k..well lets say he give me a discount..14k?omg..maybe cause its the only place selling it i thinkl..

but there's one thing i'm worry about is..when i'm test-riding the bike..with no sports bike experience..(jus cupcai)...kinda scary..
