thx Viperion for the advice..but they still need to 'operate' the machine.. i'm still worry coz better to get the Asus factory made machine rather than i suffer from hardware failure after got my A1 in hand later..
*
The people at Gentech are experienced and have capable technicians so don't worry. You must be new purchasing things from USA because I'm guessing you haven't been to NBR forums yet (Note Book Reviews). Brand new G73JH (any variants) fresh off the production lines have problems. I was very worried when I purchased my unit because of the GSOD issues due to a batch of faulty ATI GPU cards and poor workmanship from the factory in applying the thermal solution for the GPUs.

There are users who faced GPU problems like overheating and refused to send their units for RMA to ASUS because some people faced the same problems or even worse after getting their units back from ASUS. In the end most of them D.I.Y the thermal solution or for some who bought from GentechPC sent the unit back to them to re-apply the thermal paste for the GPU and that solved their problems.

I'm very fortunate because my unit is almost perfect except for a micro dot dead pixel in my LCD at the bottom left (Thank God) and it's not noticeable unless you are staring at it from 5 cm away on a white background tongue.gif

PS: If you are ordering from GentechPC, get Ken Lee as your sales rep and mention my name (Mark Lee) and Jeffrey. He will take good care of your unit and any modifications you need done wink.gif biggrin.gif

After some financial difficulties last month i'm only able to buy ROG G73JH-A2 from Gentech yesterday. I pay using paypal and paypal chose eCheck to pay Gentech. Stupid mistake because I forgot to confirmed my credit card.  doh.gif

Now need to wait until 3 August for the eCheck to be cleared.  rclxms.gif

Congratulations! Here's hoping for an early arrival and you having loads of fun with it thumbup.gif

We might need to change thread name sooner for G53/73jx/jh. laugh.gif
*
Nah, let those owners have their own thread. Anyway the G73JX will only go into production in mid-September and should only hit retailers around the end of the month. Also the initial rush for the units will make it hard for anyone overseas to obtain them until the demands slows down a little. I'm not overly excited over the improvements and still think the G73JH is a great buy.

I got my first every GSOD today! sad.gif

After updating to ATI Catalyst 10.7 and testing Gears Of War, Crysis, C&C 3, etc. etc, I had no problems playing past several hours. I however got a GSOD after 15 minutes into Starcraft 2! It was in the tutorial even and not at the campaign mode. Not sure what happened but it locked my unit for good and I had to press the power button down to shut the unit off. I had all the settings on Ultra and might have given my GPU a cardiac arrest, LMAO! tongue.gif
GPU temp spikes were steady hitting a max of 80c so I don't think it is a thermal problem. Did an overclock to 705/1100 and the problem went away but now I know the feeling when one owner said he could feel the unit wanting to GSOD but with the overclock it just went past. I tried the tutorial again in overclock mode and at one part the game froze for 1-2 seconds then continued as per usual but I'm betting at stock speed the unit would have GSOD!

I am going to reset to stock speeds and try campaign. I will report back if I get anymore GSOD on SC2.

I guess u might need to rma sooner. GSOD cause might vary from driver to default gpu card issue.
*
Well here is the funny thing. I have been running the stock drivers and don't have any issues playing the above mentioned games for hours end. The GSOD never happened in 10.6 drivers but I hardly played much on those. The 10.7 is awesome because it really improves a lot of video performance but is causing GSOD. Just got a green SOD in Crysis after an hour playing Crysis. I'm going to overclock the GPU now to test for stability.

Message from Ken Lee ( GenTechPC ):
'G73JH-A2 is not in stock and next shipment will have to wait 2 weeks.  we do have A1 in stock and it's ready to ship'

Do I really need to pay international surcharge $15 as asked by Ken?
*
International surcharge? How are you making your payments? There is a USD 30 bank fee if you are making payment through wire transfer.

Hmmm, you need to check with other owners who paid through paypal. Did he tell you what the surcharge is for? Get an explanation from him on the reason for the surcharge wink.gif

QUOTE(psjjl @ Jul 31 2010, 11:12 PM)
International Surcharge:

Customer who is outside US/Canada and UK region need to pay the international surcharge coz US paypal will charge GenTechPC MORE if there is customer like me who want to pay using paypal. Actually GenTechPC will only receive wire transfer if there is purchase from international customers but that's why like Mark and Jeffery said they provide NO.1 service to their customers. So there are paypal payment for international customers and we should appreciate their effort. Just pay the surcharge.. tongue.gif
*
Well, the Paypal surcharge is much cheaper than the bank wire transfer. The good thing about Paypal payments is they have a great customer support which you can call. If you made your payments through Paypal, generate a customer PIN and call Paypal to inquire if the surcharge is actually true. I would think it is accurate because when you pay through credit card in Low Yat Plaza they would charge a 3% in top of your total because the credit card company charges the vendor for the transaction fee. Paypal is making money through vendors that way and I think USD 15 is more cheaper than the wire transfer fees we paid through banks wink.gif

if i wanna buy the g73jh..getting it from gentech is among my best choice right?

It really depends on your requirements. I tried several online vendors before purchasing my unit going as far as calling 4 of them in the USA and Gentech had the most informative sales personnel. They also provide the best customer service and was extremely prompt in replying my queries to fulfilling my order requirements. If you want the best customer service get your unit from Gentech and try to get Ken Lee as your sales representative as he has dealt with many customers from Malaysia wink.gif

Guys, can u brief me more about GenTech in this topic?
I might want to purchase a laptop there.

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry35389533

I intend to buy G53 instead since I find the G73 a bit too big for my mobility.
However,G73 is superb,I love it.I hope that the G53 would do wonders as well.
Please advice me and brief me.
*
What sort of advice and briefing you need because you request is too general. Are you asking if they are trustworthy, shipment time, technical knowledge, service, etc etc? Please point out your concerns or questions in detail and we will try our best to answer your questions. I can get in touch with Ken Lee from GentechPC if we cannot answer the questions however only when I am free as I don't work for them but willing to help a fellow LYN forum member wink.gif

QUOTE(Jeffrey1987 @ Aug 4 2010, 04:40 PM)
GenTechPC is a well known PC reseller at US. If you want to purchase notebook from them, I would recommend you to buy from Ken Lee.  laugh.gif Below are some of the informations regarding on GenTechPC:

1. Website: http://www.gentechpc.com/

2. YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/GenTechPC

3. Ken's e-mail: ken@gentechpc.com

As for the G53, the rumor of its ETA is around end of Sept 2010 but as you know Asus's ETA mostly is not accurate.  sweat.gif For more info, please visit: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gamin...sion-g73jh.html

P/S: IF you intended to buy one from GenTechPC, just try mention my name (Jeffrey1987) and Viperion (Mark Lee).  thumbup.gif Ken will try his best to assist you in the buying process.

I'm going to ask Ken to send us our Paycheck end of this month Jeff tongue.gif (Only in my dreams, LMAO!)

QUOTE(psjjl @ Aug 6 2010, 07:39 AM)
Below was some reviews on G73JH particularly about battery life comments:

1. Hothardware

2. In our battery rundown tests, the ASUS G73Jh lasted for 87 minutes. Annoyingly, this means it will conk out at the pivotal moment in most feature-length
movies. That said, it would be unfair to expect anything more from a desktop replacement model. Our advice is to use a wall outlet. [source: Good Gear Guide
    from AU ]

3. LaptopMag

4. legitreviews

Hope it helps.  laugh.gif
*
The problem with battery life lies in the power consumption of the GPU. The stock vbios doesn't down clock the GPU & Mem speeds leaving it idle at a ridiculous 700/1000mhz thus draining the battery like crazy. There is a modded vbios in NBR that lowers the speed of the clocks and increasing the battery life to 2~4 hours depending on the battery saving mode you are using. Flashing your vbios does not break your warranty however be sure to keep the stock bios just in case you need to flash back for RMA purposes. WARNING! Please note there is a risk factor in flashing the vbios and you might end up bricking your entire unit tongue.gif

I got my A2 unit from GenTech PC just for RM5565.00 including everything. I have dealt with Mucro Asia before and they only replied my email with simple and yet short message: "We don't know yet"...As Jeffrey said, it's total different story if compared with Ken Lee. He replied my questions even in the late night ( California ) See..a lot of different. One thing that worries me now is WHEN THE KASTAM WILL CALL ME TO COLLECT MY A2?  sweat.gif
*
Kastam will never call you to collect it. Pos Laju will call you if your unit is held by Kastam. Also if you use USPS shipping option Pos Laju will not deliver to your doorstep. You will have to collect it at the nearest branch they sent your package to. Use the USPS tracking number at the pos laju tracking page to find where they sent your unit. Check the link below:

http://www.pos.com.my/V1/main2.asp?c=/v1/T...e/MainTrack.htm

Select Pos Laju and enter your USPS tracking information.

QUOTE(viruz019 @ Aug 11 2010, 01:06 AM)
u did it last week friday? oo..i din noe DHL will take tat long oso O_O..i tot 1-5 days xD

how long does it take from gentech to reach your private address at US? if everything is fast..i might as well jz use the method u use

based from my own estimation:
if i transfer tomorrow, wednesday,
2-3 days later for wire transfer, thus, saturday receive,
gentech send out the laptop on saturday *should be friday at US*,
tuesday *monday in US* arrive at comgateway,
comgateway post it out using DHL estimate 3-5 days,
latest i will receive is nxt friday or nxt nxt monday
hmm
*
Estimation for USPS is 5-7 working days the moment you see the unit left US in the tracking page. It takes around 1-2 days to get a tracking number once payment is confirmed by the banks. ETA should be 6-9 working days if everything goes smooth to 14 days max if something hits a snag. Anything above 14 days you should contact Gentech and USPS on your shipment.

If I knew about comgateway earlier I would have opted for that option because DHL would have delivered to my doorstep. Pos Laju refused to deliver my USPS package stating it was insured and they do not deliver insured packages. What a load of bull crap for those lazy monkeys tongue.gif
