Tempting indeed, with low fares, and damn cheap hotels ...

But almost half of Central World's gone, is Pratunam area even safe?

Worst fear is they did something to the airport or such. Sigh .... How I miss the food and places of BKK.

Still can get low fares?

I booked thru Asiarooms.com.
The reason I booked different Hotel on the last night of our trip was because we will be mainly shopping in Silom & Pratunam area on 18th and going to Jatujak on 19th in the morning by BTS Skytrain. Best Western Mayfair is just walking distance to Payathai, Ratchathewi BTS station and Airport rail link station. At about 4pm on 19th, either we walk or hotel's tuk-tuk can send us to the Ratchaprarop Airport rail link station for the free ride to Suvarnabhumi airport.

Wanna join us for Safary World on 17th ? can get cheaper price if book in group.

PR place also near.

M heading to Kanchanaburi by weekend train for 1 day trip to see bridge of the river kwai. Well still hesitating cos JJ mkt falls on weekend as haizzz!!!. Then d rest of the days will be shopping n makan

May stay Baiyoke boutique then PR place for last 2 nites cos is neat the train station to Airport. So those of u heading there soon.Let me knw how much is d train ride from airport. To come to think abt it, I should take taxi to airport cos m sure lot's of things to carry after days of shopping there. icon_idea.gif

That was my 1st choice initially but it was fully booked in June. Very near to SARL indeed. Maybe 2 min walk ? Any way Best Western Mayfair provides complimentary Shuttle Tuk Tuk service to nearby shopping Arcades within 500 metres radius.

If it is the 19th of June you're talking about, it's the weekend - you might find that the airport rail link not in operation. You should be prepared with a backup plan just in case.

You have to remember these are test runs - limited hours 7am-10am and 4pm-7pm I believe Mon-Fri until the opening date of Aug 12

You stayed at PR Place before? I checked the website and the rate for every type of rooms are almost similar, around 90-100bht.

I just want to make sure whether this apartment is clean, especially the toilet?

There is sign posted at the air rail link station that states the times:
PhayaThai-BKK
7am-10am
4pm-7pm
20 min intervals

BKK-PhayaThai
7:10am-9:50am
4:10pm-6:50pm
20 min intervals

At BKK the station is underground. Journey takes around 20 mins.

Unclear whether train operates weekends (this is the first weekend so we'll see) but I thought I had read in the BKK Post that it did not. But as they say TIT (This is Thailand) - things change without reason.

Good luck/Chok Dee!

I called Thai railways to confirm this matter and the answer is Monday to Friday only during the trial run. Initially I miss both BKK-PhayaThai and return trip but after Airasia postpone my flight for KLIA-BKK to late noon, I should be able to test the SARL BKK-PhayaThai from 4pm onwards.
