it wont boost ur batt, unless u get extra batt... Lol....

for A550(and A300series), seriously, i find it a little overrate and pricey for the ori grip for 1 dail and 2 button, and a shutter release... just buy the 3rd party ones if u think u prefer to hold it portrait orientation. i myself felt comfy without it thou tongue.gif

the phottix battgrip selling for rm180 if not mistaken from digitalmania...comes with an extra battery somemore....

You are right on the spot smile.gif
The ubi penyek is messy. Some already eaten by my cousins/uncles/auties smile.gif

The tanimbu doesnot attract me either. hehe... It is actually a kampung dish. A poor man's dish (macam "shepard's pie" for English folks)
Simple soup + fresh water fish (eg talapia etc... but here, prawns were used) + some sour fruit (should be buah bambangan muda (a wild fruit) but here using the belimbing buluh) smile.gif . The old kampung folks used to (in the olden time) bring this dish to the sawah bendang and have it during lunch .

hehe ... laugh.gif
it tasted quite ok actually... some similarity to laksa penang... without the spaghette/pasta. But laksa penang sourness comes from asam keping. This tanimbu get its sourness from sour fruit.

Its my first time heard of Tanimbu dish... I guess not many city boy sabahan like myself have heard of it either.

in this case, i'd prefer the edited one, but if for me, instead of going lomo-color, i'd do it in black and white and also not to burn out the part on the right side's center.

i believe you're using your flash for this? what i normally do is take a reading of the background 1st (partial metering), then i'd put the values over to manual and let it stay that way, then control the flash's power to light up the subject, probably in this case, 1/16 would be enough do the job.

#8 . how to take the "steam" pics???
ordered something sizzling before and tried snap few pics but not getting the steam. come out like smoky only
*
Smoky and steam is different. Not easy to catch steam, need to check your backdrop and the angle you trying to capture. Like ier said, there is no right or wrong to take food pics. However, there is a guideline to make it attractive. Practice makes perfect.

There's one forumer, vkeong... check out his blog. His food photos quite awesome, I don't know what setup he uses to take those pics, wondering whether he uses flash for those shots. I find it somewhat overkill to use a flashgun in restaurant taking pics. Maybe it's just me.... blush.gif

from what i can tell from that site's food photos, quite a number of them are shot with the use of flash, albeit very small amount and nicely diffused. some that have sufficient natural lighting are shot without. for food photos, its very important to have the white balance set correctly, or else the food will look unnatural and in some cases, sickening. you dont want to be eating some beef burger with a green color-cast now do you?

i may not have steamy food pics in my collection, but here's something rarer to catch than steam.
