Timeseek is great , but fast forward and skip is sufficient for most occasion.

Btw, do you what is the time of the scene in the movies 2012 where the aircraft carrier got carried by the tsunami and smash into the whitehouse?

Without time seek, it would test your patience if want to forward to later part of movie biggrin.gif

I guess he wasn't making a point about flaw in WDTV Live or comparing it to a PC. He was just trying to stress how important the Timeseek feature is which the WDTV Live doesn't have.

Ya, undoubtedly the POHD has advantage in features like time seek & YAMJ.....but it seems that the latest fw for YAMJ still got bugs, and are you sure that POHD can play BDISO? hmm.gif
*
BDISO sure can play. But no menu selection.

You are talking about which AC Ryan?

If you are talking about POHD, Who says no composite audio?

I mean the digital output can ouput the DTS HD and Dolby Thru HD to the amplifier, not direct output the analogue signal from the POHD media player.
You must be on other planet doh.gif

Ah, understood..thanks.. rolleyes.gif

No you don't understand. Have to repeat so many times, you can't get any HD Audio from blu-ray movies on the POHD. You will only get a lower quality (non HD) core DTS 5.1 from a DTS-MA source and no sound at all from a Dolby TrueHD source.

POHD can stream via WiFi without a HD installed on the player right?
*
Better install internal HD for streaming because it will create hidden partitions in the HDD for buffering purposes for smoother playback.

Just look for the small 'Boxbuilder' sticker. If it's there it's covered by Boxbuilder warranty.

i need some advice .. before i jump into decision of getting a unit of A.C.Ryan PlayON

does the PlayOn runs hot with the internal hdd ?
does it makes any difference in performance  5400 / 7200 rpm sata hdd ? faster loading time ?

if i choice for PlayOn! Mini using external 3.5" drives, will it lag playing a 1080p mkv file ?
*
Any 3.5" 5400rpm drive will do. It is completely adequate for the task. Performance is not affected even if connected through USB external dock. Everything is smooth.

I recommend the Samsung HD154UI 5400 rpm 1.5TB. It costs only around RM330/-. I am using two of these, one internal SATA and one external connected through USB.

The POHD runs very cool. Even with the internal drive attached, it is just slightly warm only after playing for few hours. This is because of the built-in fan.

Don't know about the POHD mini though. It doesn't have internal HD storage but it's size is much smaller and also I don't think it's got a fan.

I thought WDTV Live PQ is better than POHD ??
*
It can be very subjective. Each person sees things differently. Since both are using chips that are already very good, any small differences can be due to the placebo effect.

the price I mentioned is offered in lowyat shop and not only 1 but few are selling that price.
can you do that price?
*
BoxBuilder is the main distributor lah, not the shop.

Everyone is buying POHD.
Is it the mini version is not good in term of PQ/AQ compare to its big bro??
How's the fan noise in the big POHD?? not too loud??

Still undecided between BIG vs MINI..
*
Shoudn't be any different in PQ/AQ when both using same chipset. The mini does not have a bay for Internal HD, no card reader, no fan and missing a few other items which has no bearing on the PQ or AQ.

Depends a lot on the pairing of the player and the TV. Both player got slightly diff colour and brightness/contrast schemes.

So if Realtek default settings happens to suit your TV better, you will say Realtek is better. If Sigma default suits another guy's TV better , then he will say Sigma is better.
