at higher ISO speeds, the pic tends to turn out a little bit grainy.

here's a shot with the longest shutter speed:
user posted image
Camera: Canon PowerShot G10
Exposure: 15 (max)
Aperture: f/8.0 (max)
Focal Length: 6.1 mm
ISO Speed: 80
Exposure Bias: +2 EV

somehow, i can't seem to achieve the sort of clarity i want (i.e. the words end up a bit blurry). is there a way to re-mediate this?

this is nicer, and yeah i'm not too sure about the words part, was experimenting with my friend this past weekend too, i find that faster shutter (underexposed) pics will make the words turn out better.

Hmm, I think ISO1600 is kinda high for night shots.
If I were you, I'll use either ISO100 or ISO200 because I wanna avoid as much noise as possible during the night shot.
But you need to lower the aperture value or make the shutter speed slower to get more light in.

Okay sifu, I need you guise to provide C&C for this picture.

This is my first time using this camera. So it is very hard as it is on a different level and I only get 1 good shot out of 2.

Thank you very much.
