MAS use method 2  to ask people buy it right issue share. people thought  can earn money then will buy the OR + right issue share at 1.6 K. MAS need money, but their business look no good. so how to ask people buy their right share? method 2 as mentioned above. They purposely push down the OR price to 0.14 , so the cost of buying OR with right share is 1600 + 140 = 1740 compare with 1920 mother share, people think can earn the diff then will buy their right share lol  ... just my opinion.

Err... this is more about conspiracy theory, yes in theory could do.

But you shoot your own foot with this kind of tactic, as in the end of day, mothershare price will be pressured to lower due to plunging of OR because as I said earlier, anyone with MAS now (which don't intend to sell or buy in the first place) will sell MAS share to fund the Rm1.60 right issue, so you bring down the mothershare in the process of doing it. That's why we see MAS mothershare plunge as well.

It is shooting your own foot and like playing with fire to purposely push down OR, as if mothershare drop below Rm1.60, there won't be anyone to subscribe the right issue. They suffer even more by doing this.

Regarding the MAS-OR. Currently i hold 80 lot MAS share bought before ex-date.
If i sold my MAS share at RM1.92, my OR still valid?
What i mean is, i decided not to exercise the OR. I sell my MAS share tomorrow, i get RM1.92 + RM0.135(latest MAS-OR price), or solely RM1.92 only? The last day of entitlement is 22nd FEB.
I am confused, and at total lost. Urgent advice needed.

i dun know whether u can sell the mother share during this rights issue... coz my remisier told me that i cannot sell the mother share and told me to wait until the exercise end then only can sell it...
but if u opt not to exercise the OR just sell it on open market following its moving price... u can still retain the mother share... dun worry

I wonder... I bought MAS 80 lot @ RM2.6
Is that mean if i take up the OR, the averaged price i get is RM2.6+RM1.6 / 2 = RM2.1

Thats why i plan to sell it now, don't want to invest more money in MAS.
But the only thing i concern is, will i get RM1.92 + RM0.135, or RM1.92 only if i sell tomorrow. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

yes... that is discounted average share price if u decided to exercise the OR

mother share is mother share, OR is OR, the OR has been allocated to u...
if u plan to sell both mother share and OR then, RM1.92+RM0.135...

IC. Then why don't we just sell the Mother and hold the OR. Convert the OR to mother share at RM1.6+0.135?
That's would be a good idea rclxms.gif

Johor expects to draw in RM46bil in investment for its oil and gas (O&G) industry from two Middle Eastern companies over the next three years, Business Times reported today. The Qatar company has committed investments totalling RM16bil, while the Iranian company is expected to invest RM30bil. On the Qatar and Iranian investments, each project would generate between 600 and 1,000 jobs. Johor might be able to attract more than RM50bil in foreign direct investment in the O&G sector by 2013.

Companies, which should benefit from these new investments, are likely to be Dialog Group, Kencana Petroleum and KNM Group. Positive on the oil & gas sector given the re-acceleration in oil & gas spending amid the declining profile of global reserves. Maintain OVERWEIGHT calls on the sector with top picks being SapuraCrest Petroleum. We like Kencana Petroleum, Boustead Heavy Industries Corp, Coastal Contracts, Alam, Dialog and Wah Seong as well. HOLDs are Petronas Gas, Scomi Group, Tanjung, KNM and Sealink............

I think he's dreaming now... biggrin.gif
Anyway i found this article by Alex Lu, a remisier.
He talked about selling mother share and buy again with OR.
But he didn't mention on after selling mother, do we still hold the OR.
That's my confusion comes. In case after selling the mother share, will still have OR, i think best to do is to Sell the mother now, and convert the OR with just RM1.6+RM0.135 = RM1.735 something like that... cheaper than current market price RM1.92 lor... instant profit

MAS- arbitraging opportunity
MAS is in the midst of completing a 1-for-1 Rights Issue at RM1.60 each. The ex-date of the Rights Issue was Feb 8, but the share price began to weaken ever since the Rights Issue was first announced on Dec 22. In early January, I had posted that MAS has broken the psychological RM3.00 level as well as the horizontal support of RM2.90 (go here).

Today is the start of trading of MAS-OR, the Rights entitlement. An investor who buys 1000 MAS-OR would be entitled to subscribe for 1000 MAS shares at RM1.60 each. We have seen heavy selling of MAS-OR in the market, prompted by existing shareholders' decision not to apply for their allotted entitlement under the Rights Issue. This may present an attractive opportunity for arbitraging profit for the existing shareholders, who can sell their shares in MAS at the present price of RM1.92 and then acquire back the same share via MAS-OR (presently trading at RM0.14 each) & then subscribing for the Rights Issue share at an all-in cost of RM1.74. Those who want to gain entry into MAS, may choose the cheaper route of buying the MAS-OR & then subscribing for the Rights Issue share, instead of buying the share directly from the market.

Chartwise, we can see that MAS has broken below its recent uptrend line,S1-S1 at RM2.40 and is hanging stubbornly at the horizontal support at RM1.90-2.00.
