I have an idea here, those who said that the 4G3 is too light and therefore hard to control, you may stick some heavy object under the heli, especially for the beginner, isn't it this will help to learn hovering?

If you put heavy object... are you sure that it will even lift off the ground?? sweat.gif

Less than a month~!! doh.gif small electronics... will tend to burn with small current surge... mad.gif

Aiya, of course a optimal weight lah tongue.gif

I believe this could be a trial & error method to find out the perfect one .....

yes .. u can put weight to slow down the 4g3
like u said .. optimal weight ... but where ?? have to look after the CG which is very sensitive to something so small
just put some very small weight on the FLYBAR laa .. it will slow it down quite alot and will not add too much AUW

I think different heli the place u put the object will be different, so I am afraid that I dun have the answer for you, AGAIN, trial & error !!

One thing, increasing the load to your motor will definitely decreasing its life, just a matter of time only. But for the beginner I think it is still OK maybe.

If you put it to flybar, would you slow down the RPM?

The load of the motor can be decrease by lesser pitch curve.... so you can try increasing the pitch curve little by little till satisfaction lo....
Decrease the pinion gear will do the tricks too...

How about increasing the expo??
Increasing the flybar weight is an option too... but not too much as your heli will become slow respond...

flybar weights main purpose is to slow down the cyclic ... and of coz it will slow down the headspeed slightly

ok ... found the ESC .. i think it should be working but i cannibalised the connectors for use with XP7A ESC .. hehehehe
the batt connector and the connector to 4n1 is missing .. the standard servo connector which walkera use to connect to motor is still attached
u will have to cut your KONG liau ESC connectors to use with this one

i got some newbie question:

how do you setup the colco 4ch apache's swash plate?
how do you actually "balance" it? i can understand the e-sky's type, but the colco's is a bit confusing. blink.gif i dismantled the apache for a little clean up and oiling and simply just to get to know the components, but after re-assembling, it flies a little weird. sweat.gif

look at the main shaft vs swash plate from the side and from the back
make sure it is level on all angles .. adjust/turn the linkage from the servos to swash to level it ..
oso check CG and balance your blades ..
remove blade from heli .. hold and balance the flybar 90 degrees to your heli body .. it should be level or very close to level .. if not then your CG is out and heli will go towards the heavier direction

Added on February 5, 2010, 11:23 amswash should be 90 degrees to the main shaft .. so look at the swash relative to the main shaft .. not the heli body .. hahaha
