QUOTE(lowyatben @ Mar 30 2012, 03:40 PM)
Major dilemma...

1) If get Ultimate Thor, but didn't manage to get Ultimate versions of Iron Man and Captain America previously. But I got meself an Ultimate Hawkeye because I like the design.

2) Therefore, I went and purchased all movie versions of Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and Hulk in this latest Avengers packaging. And Loki too. Just to pair him with Red Skull from Captain America line from last year. But I'm missing Nick Fury. And unsure if there'll be Black Widow and Hawkeye in later waves.

3) But should I continue with comic versions? I only have Captain America (modern blue, red, white) and Commander Steve Rogers, Modern Thor, Modular Armour Iron Man, Red Hulk, World War Hulk, Skaar, Ronin, Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Spider-Woman, Black Widow, Yellowjacket, Spider-Man, Iron Spidey, Astonishing Wolverine, Quicksilver, Wonder Man, Daredevil (classic red costume)... So my Avengers is kinda rojak with a mix of Classic, New and Heroic Age. And let's not get me started on Dark Avengers. I have Iron Patriot, Dark Spider-Man, Dark Wolverine, Dark Hawkeye, Sentry but I'm missing Moonstone Ms. Marvel. And still no sign of Ares and Marvel Boy. And Marvel Comics has a new Dark Avengers now. And Thunderbolts is being re-titled Dark Avengers soon so I'm pretty sure we'll get a mix of old, present and some new faces.

Sucks to be a completist nowadays, eh? Well, I'm not a completist when it comes to the MU line but it sure disappoints big time once you start a collection and either you're missing an exclusive character or it never gets produced. I'm sure fellow collectors like you guys know the feeling, right?
*
I share your dilemma .It's hard to complete the entire MU line if you start collecting later .Of course ,it's different if you don't mind forking out extra for those rare figs and also on variants .
There are so many outfit / costume variations for each MU character and Hasbro already churned out some of these for the usual suspects (Cap A ,IM ,Thor ,Spidey ,Wolvie) but for me ,this does not justify the reason to buy them all .Unless you're a true completist .
It's bad enuf with price increment ,shortage of articulation ,lack of accesories and exclusion of figure stands .
So I'm just content that most of the Avengers ,X-Men and some independent superheroes had made their presense in the 3 3/4" line .Not gonna chase after the rare ,overpriced and variant figs . nod.gif

Edit

I read somewhere that movie series Hawkeye and Black Widow will be released as part of Wave 3 while Fury is in Wave 4 .

I totally agree !...is impossible to complete the collection. I normally go for those that I like bypassing the figure with similar outfit, ie, Spidey and IM (I go for the movie line, far more cooler). So..is a mix n match concept. U can say quite rojak lar.... tongue.gif

I'm a slow starter, so I spent a lot of time n $$ in getting to where I am now (fast-track from Series 1, Wave 1)..is painful, require a lot of patience, luck and reliable sources (lubang) where to go to...

My strategy remains the same after few months of collecting MU line, whenever I see the one I like, grab n go. Like bro darkshadow say.."buy 1st, regret later"

I want the Black Widow variant. The one with lower zip for more exposure.

Just got Avengers movie series Thor, Ironman and Loki today.

Wanted to get Hulk but he looks horrendous to me, so I guess I'll just use my marvel universe Hulk as an Avenger. Rojak. sad.gif

Also for Captain America, not sure if I should get him since I already have a Captain America from the Captain America movie line... do u guys think it's worth it to invest in a rather similar figure? (just one is from Avengers, one is from the previous movie)

The Avengers Captain America costume looks terrible in the trailers. But somehow, he fits nicely with the other members of the Avengers Trinity in the 3 3/4" scale so I got him (and Hulk too). But the "Hulk Buster" Iron Man (the one that also has another set with Cap and his "Buster") is way too big to battle a shorter Hulk. Aiseh! So I skipped that. And the 6" Hulk doesn't fit in. Yeah, Hulk can grow taller (I think) but his pants would've been totally ripped off (unless he's wearing the stretchable type). So I passed on that too.

Added on March 30, 2012, 6:12 pmBtw, liette` , which Thor did u get? With helmet or without? I got the one without. Thought the other one looked kinda silly? Somehow the head looks like it's shrunk? Something is way off, that's for sure.

I think that hulk is the one retailing at 49.90. I intend to get that just for the sake of getting the scale right. Lol.

Thanks . smile.gif
You can refer to the picture below for differences .
In Thor's ,his outfit is portrayed as battle ready while the Avenger's depicts formality and regality .
IMO ,since Thor's version is hard to find ,I'll gladly settle for this one .

*
ok.. me too.... time to look for it tongue.gif
i saw TRU's wave.... and i was like ... doh.gif
most of it were the same figures which ended up on clearance during the first movies... (IM, thor, cap)... wondering what is hasbro thinking... r they expecting them to sell this time round with new packaging and new accessories?? if they want to save cost, at least reissue those VHTF figures like king loki n sif and heimdall from thor... that should get us excited! tongue.gif

But that 49.90 Hulk's hands are held upright, am I right? Gotta squeeze the left hand for "action"...

Added on March 30, 2012, 10:32 pmAny idea if the "Hulkbuster" will make an appearance in the film?

What about War Machine?
