any other gpu that u recommend? i tried searching for the 3200 and 4570 but still higher than my budget. these two are the best for my budget is it?

well, that's lowest end for today notebook, except intel gma..
perhaps, something with GeForce Go 7400 or as long its not intel gma
or just forget the gaming part

Budget ~RM3k (Not too much over please)
Must haves :
Intel Processor (C2D etc)
Genuine Windows (Definitely a plus)
Dedicated GPU
>= 4gb Ram

My Acer of 4 years just died recently, with tape needed to keep the screen intact (you have no idea..) So I'm abit biased against Acer
I'm a pretty heavy user. The reason I'm not getting a desktop is because I'd need a laptop if I were to go overseas few months later

My first choices would be Asus and Toshiba with Dell being the last resort. If Acer has something for me, I might consider too since I've read some posts saying its not that bad nowadays

I'd like it to be able to play most of the games for the next year or so
And I'll use it for heavy surfing and some photo post-processing

I know about Asus k40ab and Acer Aspire 5740G-524G50
But are there any that I should consider also ??

well, for value one, definitely acer aspire 5740g
as for other brand, toshiba l510-s4138b, dell studio 15, asus a42jr/a52jr
pretty much similar graphic performance, different cpu.

Why I can't google any info on the l510-s4138b ?
Does the Asus come with genuine windows ?
And whats the difference between a42jr and a52jr ? I only see a difference in screen size but with same price

Yes, u can always buy it through online but it will take a while.Most probably will take around 2 weeks or more.

It's best if u can just buy it straight away from a retail shop as you can get it there and then.Saves you the grumbles of waiting heh

I need some ideas on what laptop to get for a girl.

Have VGA out..
DVD ROM at least
Powerful enough to run at least 3 facebook app at the same time in the bg, while watching dvd without choppy effects.
Less than 2.4kg with bat..
Battery not so important, 3 hours still ok.
budget 4k.

Currently I think Asus u80v is one of the better ones I can find.
Toshiba m900 is also a good pick, i think.
HP probook has a few interesting models too.
HP elitebook is way out of my budget..
Dell.. the design is too plain.. unless no choice, then I'll pick dell, she hates XPS.
Sony vaio carbon body is cool but it's way out of budget.
Lenovo, I have seen X200, X300 impressive but it's out of my budget.

Any suggestions?

orait thanks lee for ur recommendation. yesterday i have bought for my fren Asus K50AB at RM2199. only 1 unit left. bit surprise at the screen size just like my S57. must be difficult to find the screen protector and keyboard protector for these models.huhu

Obviously you haven't owned a 17" laptop before. Finding said stuff for a mainstream 15" laptop is a breeze by comparison.

Vaio SR is not longer being distributed.
