Nope. Best bet is Vostro 3700 and overclocked it.

Just make sure to upgrade to 4GB ram.

HP doesn't really give better value for its performance this time around though...
14'': can consider Lenovo Y460, i5 540M + ATi HD5650@RM3599 or Asus A42Jk, i5 520M + ATi HD5470@RM3199
15.6'': can consider Acer 5741G, i5 520M + Nvidia GT320M@RM2999 or Acer 5745G, i7 720QM + Nvidia GT330M@RM3799
17.3'': can consider Dell Vostro 3700, i5 430M + Nvidia GT330M@RM2849
Whichever you consider, do upgrade the RAM at least to 4GB for better performance in those apps you mentioned before.

you are comparing 4K vs 6.5K in 3dmark06 in 1280x720...
there's even someone overclocked GT330M until 8K* in 3dmark06 in 1280x720....

*overclock capability would be differ from one card to another....

Memory size doesn't really matter whether it is 512MB or 1GB, the matter one is the GPU model.
To simplify, GT330M wins.

A42Jr is quite hard to find now since its officially phased out and replaced by A42Jk, the different is it using different GPU, ATi HD5145, i5 430M should cost RM2899...

Yup, its 17.3'' and not FullHD, but rather HD ready, 1600x900.
If 14''/15'' + anti-reflection screen, consider vostro 3400/3500, get the one with Nvidia 310M.

For gaming, BenQ S42, 14'', P8700 + Nvidia 9600M GT@RM2699 would be better though...

Well, can't be compared with Latitude, since Vostro is the business line in budget...
The problem is most consumer notebook nowadays comes with glossy screen, which leads to business notebooks...

If you want for gaming and 14'', I suggest get Lenovo Y460, i5 430M + ATi HD5650@RM3299, it offer much better performance in gaming compared to the Vostro 3400...

That's why Vostro 3400 is suggested before, its got the latest i-series and discrete graphic + its anti-glare screen as well and still fit the bill.
