They will just work pretty much the same, the difference is almost unnoticeable, except the MSI might have better performance in gaming.
Well, 1GB is enough if the user not picky, though I might prefer 2GB at least, for nowadays.
The CQ40 might have difficulties in installing Windows XP in it as drivers are a bit hard to found, well, if that's what you intend to use later on.

You can check latest pricelist from Thundermatch, got one offer
G450 59026247, T4300 2.1GHz, 1GB ram, 250GB hdd, GMA 4500M, no bluetooth though, RM 1399

Just realized got one notebook with price drop.
Asus U80V, 14'', p7450 + ATI HD4570, RM 2799, iinm with backlit keyboard, though it its older generation, but its quite thin and light (2.1kg)
or Asus A42JR (14'') or A52JR (15''), i3 350M + ATi HD5470 @RM2699, basically almost like Acer 5740G with downgrade on CPU, cheaper RM 300, but longer 1 year warranty.

Well, if it has that kind of spec, 6.5hours of battery life would be impossible... and also the heat generated...

both ur choices are quite business usage...
as a average user, what do you use a laptop for?
do you use it a lot while you traveling, meeting clients etc?

ur budget?
mmm...i would give u a comment that is a bit away from technical talk..
since you are using it to meet client,
i guess the design of the laptop would be a factor to consider~

yes thinkpad is good, is durable, engineered to take pressure
but other like dell adamo and hp probook might give you another edge,
as design wise is quite...i must say, eyes catcher

spec wise for both laptops you listed i cannot get a definite answer
both are customizable
so ur question is really lies at,
what design suit you the most?

almost the same. The inspiron would be a better deal though, at that price, you get original WIndows 7 and a good aftersales.
Though, just want to clarify, is the cq40-627tu comes with 320GB 7200rpm?
And also, you might not want to consider cq40 if you wanted to use windows XP.

Well, both are budget line business notebo0k, pretty much same build quality.
Just take the one you like and consider upgrade the warranty to onsite warranty.
Matte screen is good if you need to use your notebook outside under the sun, and also if you hate to see reflection on your screen.

From the list of laptops that you just posted, i think it would be best for you to take Dell Inspiron 14, which is by means a bit better than Acer 4736 & CQ40 nod.gif...one of the reason would be the aftersales service which Dell give the best out of the three smile.gif...

Well, from spec-wise it would be :

Aspire 4736=Inspiron 14 > CQ40

@ajercrazy
i pretty much agree on monza's comment
but if Acer price is no higher than dell by 100 or 200
u may instead want to try out both before you decide
Acer comes with win 7 hp while dell is basic
plus Acer has HDMI and integrated webcam

i would say is about ur brand & design & usage preference when coming down to Dell and Acer~
