QUOTE(monza84 @ Feb 4 2010, 07:07 AM) @ajercrazy tq monza..i think i've decision already..aFrom the list of laptops that you just posted, i think it would be best for you to take Dell Inspiron 14, which is by means a bit better than Acer 4736 & CQ40 Well, from spec-wise it would be : Aspire 4736=Inspiron 14 > CQ40 since i'm gonna use it for office work and im not a gamer.. so it would be better to choose dell as per ur suggestion..tq again.. QUOTE(wanttobuylaptop @ Feb 4 2010, 09:05 AM) @ajercrazy thanks for ur reply..i will take dell as i'm in tight budget..even acer is only 150++ diffi pretty much agree on monza's comment but if Acer price is no higher than dell by 100 or 200 u may instead want to try out both before you decide Acer comes with win 7 hp while dell is basic plus Acer has HDMI and integrated webcam i would say is about ur brand & design & usage preference when coming down to Dell and Acer~ from dell..but it is a lot..tq again.. |

Well, true because SH would cover all the cost for you, but please be sure what actually SH will include in the warranty... |

dear sifu's,
i am contemplating to get Core-Duo or Core-2-Duo. whether it worth the money (+/- RM600) to get C2D. is the different that significant for one to spend extra RM600 for C2D? btw, my usage is mostly internet surfing, and occasionally Photoshop CS4 because I am a photography hobbyist. your advice is very much appreciated |

for example,
dell inspiron 1440 with dual core processor (t4300) = rm1499 dell inspiron 1440 with c2d processor (t6600) = rm2099 in such case, is the performance so noticeably different that one would top-up rm600 for the c2d processor? with the dual core processor (t4300) + 2gb ram, would the lag be too irritating if i process/multitask internet surfing (firefox) + photoshop cs4? again, thanks for your advice |

ok, maybe i should list down in details. here you go...
1. brand : i am open to any brand, except compaq 2. budget : rm2000 and below, the cheaper the better 3. specs : of coz c2d if i can afford, but i just want to explore how "slower" is the dual core processor (e.g. t4300), that's why i asked those questions as above. 4. size : 14" - 15" 5. usage : 90% firefox/facebook, 10% photoshop will an independent gpu helpful for photoshop? coz i see the Dell VOSTRO V1088 (with ATI 4330) on sale at rm1830 is quite attractive. |

QUOTE(brian3455 @ Feb 4 2010, 06:21 PM) ok, maybe i should list down in details. here you go... Yes it will help in Photoshop CS4. The Core 2 Duo is 5-15% faster then T4300 and since it has a larger L2 Cache and stuff its a bit faster but if you use an onboard video card , its going to suck. The ATI 4330 seems to be a good offer. It will be helpful for photoshop or other applications and not to mention that with Flash 10 and such you can even use the GPU's help when it comes to intense flash gaming (i.e restaurant city)1. brand : i am open to any brand, except compaq 2. budget : rm2000 and below, the cheaper the better 3. specs : of coz c2d if i can afford, but i just want to explore how "slower" is the dual core processor (e.g. t4300), that's why i asked those questions as above. 4. size : 14" - 15" 5. usage : 90% firefox/facebook, 10% photoshop will an independent gpu helpful for photoshop? coz i see the Dell VOSTRO V1088 (with ATI 4330) on sale at rm1830 is quite attractive. |

What shop in lowyat do you recommend with good price and trade in an old laptop (5 years old acer). Consider EPC 1001P-BLK013X-XPH @ PCZone, RM 1099, As for the trade in, I'm not sure, even if the shop allowed, it would usually be valued lower than its value... |
