Well, they both are directed to different market,
Acer 4736Z is for basic budget notebook, offering around 3 hours battery life, while Acer 1810TZ is for mobility, and needed long battery life > 6 hours,...
Certainly 11.6'' notebook would be easier to bring around rather than 14'', right?

as for Acer 1410T@RM1499, it comes with linux, 1gb ram and 250gb hdd while 1810TZ comes with win 7 home premium, 2gb ram, 320gb hdd, both same size at 11.6''

Asus wise, mostly only got vga for K40 series...
As for Dell, Inspiron 13@RM2099 fits almost all criteria except its 13'' and no dvd drive...
Another one would be Inspiron 14z, upgrade the gpu to HD4330@RM 2469, the downside is its using low voltage processor...
As well, Inspiron 14@1499, Inspiron 15@RM2199, upgrade gpu to HD4330 by adding RM120...
Unless top up RM99, for the new inspiron 14/15@RM2599, if latest tech matters...

Well, if you want to exclude acer...
closest would be
Lenovo G460-Core i3-330M 5903-6369 RM2249
I3-330M 2.13GHZ / DDR3 2GB / 320GB / DVDRW / Nvidia 310M 512MB / 14.1"WXGA / CAM / WIFI / DOS

but yeah, that CQ41 is a quite a good buy, though if you want to install XP, I don't really recommend compaq CQ series, since hard to find driver...

Is tat acer reliable? My brother's acer heats up easily & regularly faces problems. I've compared among the list, came to know that tat 4740G has the best spec. Hows the performance for the intel i5 processor?
*
Well, so far still no complaint from 4740G...
i5 should be around P8xxx series..

QUOTE(Mr.LKM @ Feb 11 2010, 09:24 PM)
For your information, Asus is out of stock at lowyat. There is one shop selling Asus A42JR at RM2999 =.=

QUOTE(mainFrame @ Feb 12 2010, 10:43 AM)
hey all sifu's....
i'm planning to buy a notebook for my wife soon..
other then using for general purposes (doc processing, browsing, watching vids, etc, but NOT so to gaming), needs it to also run AutoCad & Solidworks..
budget around 2.5k-3k if possible..though i'll consider any advice for it since i'm not that sure what notebook spec is decent enough to run those efficiently..tqtqtq smile.gif
*
Can consider Acer 5740G@RM2999, Dell Studio 15 with i5 430M@RM2999,

QUOTE(-milo- @ Feb 12 2010, 01:45 PM)
if i have a budget around 3k-4k what type of lap top is good for gaming???
*
Screen size?
14'' is vaio cw26@RM3999
15.6'' is dell studio xps 16
11.6'' is alienware m11x

QUOTE(cg_ng87 @ Feb 12 2010, 02:00 PM)

My fren just wan lenovo only...haha...

Thinkpad wise for around RM 3000 only R400

QUOTE(-milo- @ Feb 12 2010, 02:03 PM)

my budget is aroubd 3-4k

you can cross out the dell inspiron
as m11x and sxps 16, depends your screen size liking, though sxps 16 will have better overall experience.

QUOTE(Gembala Kambing @ Feb 12 2010, 03:50 PM)
Hi guys..

I'm looking for new laptop, if possible asap. my budget is aroud 3k-4k. any recommendations for good lappy:-

-with i5 procesor
-good gpu
-14" would be better

I like the way new lenovo y460 review. but is it being launched already in M'sia? what is the price and specs? anyone?
One more thing, I heard there is a replacement model for Asus UV. The new model is UVJ...something like that ;-). can anyone give me the specs and price range....

thanks

regards
*
So far no news of y460, only g460

I assume its about Asus UL30Jt? spec wise should be using i7 UM series, price range, the ULxxVT is below 3k, this one should be around that or 3k plus...

QUOTE(Thefiftytwo @ Feb 12 2010, 04:00 PM)
Is there a better specs than this model? Or other choices from other brand? Budget can go up to RM3,500. I would like to consider Dell, but definitely no no to HP

Thanks
*
3.5k is bit of middle of nowhere...
You can consider to import Sager NP2098, there's someone selling at garagesales or mucro.asia, though its using the old core 2 duo, but it has better graphic card(HD4650) than HD4570/HD5470, should be around 3.3-3.5k.... or if you still can find it, BenQ S57 (p8700+HD4650), hovering around RM 3k as well.
else, up more, Sony Vaio CW16@RM3699, Toshiba Qosmio F60@RM3799 or Dell studio xps@RM3999

Hi! I hope this isn't off topic, but I had to ask; would it be more cost-effective for me to replace the parts of an old laptop rather than buy a new one?

I just got an old lappie from my family, and I figured I want to make it faster for assignments and such. I think its display is 14" too, so wouldn't it be cheaper to just upgrade the parts within than buying a brand new 14"? Please enlighten me. smile.gif
*
Upgrade the parts is always cheaper, but is it worth it?

hi..may i know "DELL VOSTRO V1088-LN-522 GAMING" suitable for heavy gaming?i checked it from www.navotech.com.my
*
No, only light gaming,
Heavy gaming would be done by those high-end gaming notebook like alienware.
So, what's the budget?
If under 2k, look at Asus K40AB/K50AB, it would give better performance than that vostro, though still don't hope everything to high settings.

QUOTE(Sukun2009 @ Feb 21 2010, 05:03 PM)
i've been recommended to buy asus UL30VT but since that model didnt come out yet, i now try to consider HP dm3-1128tx. which one is better in terms of lightweight, performance and services
*
Well, DM3 is pretty heavy if compared to UL30VT but in return, it has better built, performance wise, DM3 has weaker cpu since UL30VT can overclock to 1.73GHz and DM3 also has weaker gpu as well.
services wise, can't comment.

Hi All,
I need a recommendation for a notebook. Features that i would like to have:
- 13-15 inch screen
- i5 processor and above
- reasonable graphics card
- less than 3kg(preferably less than 2.5kg, need to travel alot with the notebook)
- a bonus would be a backlit keyboard!!

and the most important thing: my budget is RM 6000

I am not a big fan of HP, ACER or Compaq, so prefer to not have any suggestion for these brands(but if u think i need to change my mind, let me know!)

Hope to get some good feedback..thanks!

brand > debating between apple or dell.. but am open to other suggestion
design > simple and light in weight

i looked through brochure for apple and dell.. though i personally prefer apple, i am afraid it's not compatible with all the download software...
and as i am a PC user i'm also worried that it will be difficult for me to switch to mac...

hi guys..
i need some advice here..

im thinking of grabbing Alienware MX11x..
But i realized that is MX11x just fall under netbook category.
the LCD size just 11" which im thinking will not satisfy for my gaming experience.

So thinking of using my 22" lcd as my external display..but will the GT335 can handle in such reso?

I f asking why dun buy full desktop for bttr gaming exp?coz to tired upgrading n chasing new tech.so just stick to one laptop will be fine smile.gif

Im choosing DELL laptop coz it has easy installment which i can pay per month.

so in extra, can suggest me another laptop brand which can offer any easy installment and quiet decent laptop for gaming?

Thanks smile.gif
*
Well, GT335M is still mid-end GPU, playing at FullHD is still possible, but I doubt it would run in high/max settings for latest games especially...
Basically depends on how high is your requirement...
Still, it packed one of the best GPU for 14'' and below

There's a Toshiba Qosmio X505 with i5 430M + Nvidia GTS360M for around RM 4.2k without shipping at mucro.asia, if you don't mind its 18.4'' size.

easy installment wise, I'm not sure blush.gif

p/s. Its M11X laugh.gif

QUOTE(Element.H @ Feb 23 2010, 04:44 PM)
I've already know what I want and has list down 3 possible laptops.

1. Dell XPS 16 (with i5)
2. Toshiba Qosmio F60 (with i5)
3. Aspire 5942

Which of the three would be the best for usage such as:
AutoCAD (3D modelling, NOT for 2D drawing etc.) and gaming such as Crysis, CoD (but I'm happy playing with just medium details).

AND reliability is an important factor. I don't want to keep on sending it for repairs.
*
Take the Aspire 5942 since its using quad-core which good for AutoCAD, and also it has be better GPU out of those three...
Reliability wise, Dell XPS 16 so far so good, the Qosmio F60 and the Aspire 5942 is new model, not much review on it...

The Nvidia 310M is better than ATi HD4330 in the inspiron 1464, that's why.

As for the difference price, that's because its Toshiba? Similar spec doesn't really mean similar price...
We are not only paying merely for spec, there's other factor like the brand, build quality, after sales, etc...

I see some freezing issue on the acer 4740G ? is there any problem with that?
*
But I believed not all of them having that problem?

Well if want other alternative, can consider Asus A42Jr/A52Jr@RM2699, though it uses i3, it have better GPU than those three, which would give better experience in gaming, rather than sacrificing GPU for i5...

@kymanhalim,
consider Acer 1410T@RM1499, using celeron SU2300 (dual core) or Acer 1810TZ@RM1899, using core 2 duo SU4100, better than atom and with intel gma 4500mhd smile.gif
