every channel are fine except HBO with the "L" shape border.

hbo is that way, being broadcasted with some black bars on all four corners. you dont see it on your right of the screen because astro itself somehow has cropped them. some channels they have the tendency to crop it... i have no idea why. so what ure watching is actually slightly stretched. and if you have picture overscan mode enabled, and still see the border, then you can never solve it, until the station itself adjust the picture by zooming a bit more...

HDMI vs Component cable for video

Hi all, seeing that we have so many beyond-ers nowadays, can you guys clarify if component cable will give better picture quality for SD channel compared to HDMI cable?

I do not have a component cable with me at the moment, if it really will improve the PQ (similar to S video cable for old decoder) that i want to purchase one tomorrow.

surprisingly audio using red & white cable sounds louder from hdmi cable.. weird cause HDMI supposingly carry lossless audio. Astro has to fix this.

Philipines cable provider has the most HD channels ( total 11) beside Korea & Japan.

HDMI can transmit lossless audio but astro don't transmit this type of audio because of limited bandwidth.
But if u set sound to Digital Audio Output to Digital Only u will know that hdmi sound are louder than red & white cable.

if you are referring to setting audio to 5.1 on the decorder and using hdmi direct to TV, only SD channel will have audio as TV can't decode.

however if it is connected to AV home theater, there is a significant varience between HD and SD audio cause of the 5.1 and 2 channel PCM.

What I'm referring to earlier was if there is no AV amp and connection is direct to TV using component & HDMI

I wonder what is the highest HD resolution is Astro B yond, if not mistaken 1080i. can somebody answer this for me. tq
