I prefer the funds managed by Mr tan yan hong/heong something. Most of the good funds from PM are managed by him though.

I thought PM funds are managed by a group of fund managers? I didn't know it was managed by a single person.

No, not a single person. Most of the time each funds are managed by 2 managers. But this Tan yan heong guy managed alot of funds with another manager.

Hi wongmunkeong, kparam77, rkg38 & gark,

Thanks, really appreciate your support and comments.

I have too many commitment and I think I may not able to buy UT with cash at the moment.

I am comparing the return between EPF (average 5.5%) and UT (roughly 8-12%), hoping to use the EPF investment scheme to gain a bit more for my golden age. Thus, I am looking at the Public Balanced or PB Balanced fund and Public ITTIKAL fund.

My friend mention to me that I should constantly invest via EPF scheme every three months and should wait for the 'right moment' to invest. "right moment' like after '308' and the 'right moment' is coming soon... (hope you get what i means).

Thanks again.
*
I dont really recommend you the balanced fund. You are going to pay 5.5% sales anyways. Why dont adjust your portfolio into 40% equity 60% bond to make it balance? Ittikal fund previously was good. But now not really that good compare to Public growth fund and equity.

For those who are still holding smallcap fund since it reopens, do you feel sad about the past 3 months performance?

Those who want to switch to bonds, can consider Public Strategic Bond fund or Public Sukuk.

better of with PBFI (public bank fixed income). Public Sukuk is new, and untested, better stay away from it first
*
PBFI no doubt is good. But problem is, i cannot switch into Public series anytime i want. I invested in PBFI too. I basically treat is as my FD tongue.gif

Check out Public strategic Bond fund from morningstar. Year-to-date performance better than PBFI. Nearly on par with PB Islamic bond/public bond fund/public islamic bond.

The only problem with PSBF, it is new, launched on 30/12/2010 if not mistaken. But nevertheless, u can less worry about it since it is a bond fund after all. Speaking about Sukuk fund, i read the details and it says similar to public islamic bond fund. And yet to see the holding details and upcoming performance.

RM70k..depend on your age. Active or passive investor?

if early 20s and no time to do research on stocks, convert it into UT form then. Let the managers/analysts do the job.

Depend on your monthly saving also. If I were you, i dont mind to put a little heavier on equity.
60% equity 40% bond.

Then comes the hard part - to do this using DCA or VCA or combination (TwinVest)? heheh - knowing me, i'd do TwinVest
This the the hard part to understand bro laugh.gif Twinvest. I think few of us know how it works exactly. From general, i only know it involves 25% DCA and 75% VCA.

notworthy.gif Thank you thank you.
So is it recommended to pump in money periodically? can I just put in i.e. 10k from the start and let it grow for years or is that a stupid move? sweat.gif
*
Depend bro. But to grow 10k into 20k which is 100% gain need some brains and times. All you need to know is how things work. Just dont spend too much times on it. At the end of the day, you might realise the times you used to learn advance investing skills can be used for other purposes. Think how to increase income first, then proceed slowly into investing.

No, closed is closed.... i think the new fund PITGF similar to this. small n mid cap asset allocations.
*
The guy over fund investment corner say reopen. sweat.gif

My biggest mistake last time is to lump sum quite a big amount into smallcap because limited chances to buy and it is the best fund available from PM (i did quite alot of research on it). After reaching -15%, switch half of the amount back to strategic bond fund. sweat.gif

Quite regret didnt follow senior's advice on "dont put all eggs in one basket".

yeah me too, rode on it, when Psmallcap opened..n i quickly dump as much as i have during the opening..relatively not muchla 5k, n now it's spiraling down n down..only one making money is PBFI, PBIBF..and i put some in PSKF

Need someone to confirm whether smallcap got reopen tomorrow or not. If got, better do DCA and keep long term i guess.

Are you aware that you cannot switch PB funds into PM funds? Wah u got chance to invest in PBIBF? I too late cry.gif Sukuk and strategic bond might be the only good bonds fund left. How is your portfolio now? Currently 70% bond (PBFI, Strategic bond, ambond) 30% (smallcap).

EDited : My agent has confirmed that smallcap will reopen tomorrow.
