QUOTE(shamsul_LP @ Mar 1 2010, 11:14 AM) Think it was intended for Torres, the pass had plenty of pace and was slightly over-hit even it's for Torres.QUOTE(vreis @ Mar 1 2010, 11:12 AM) Casillas & Reina both enter the scene at almost the same time as teenager. Being custodian to Spanish behemoths RM & Barca respectively. Truth to be told, Reina doesn't impressed much during that time while Casillas takes all the plaudit with those breath taking saves. For these past few seasons, Reina certainly can be held in the same regard as Casillas. Both are excellent short stopper but seems the managers always go with the safer choice. Same like the time when Shilton & Clemence both vie for England no 1. The thing is Casillas is playing for the argubly biggest club in Spain while Reina's playing in England. Imagine the Spanish media outburst if Pepe's selected ahead of Iker. QUOTE(sakaito @ Mar 1 2010, 11:15 AM) u just watch football yesterday aar? Sam allydyce always play rough against anyone. his team usually consisted of thugs rather than footballer. that's why if you can move faster than the tackle flying in, you'll catch his team on at least 2 goals. Arsenal has been at the receiving end of Sammy's team for the past 6 years. AW bemoans whenever we need to face sammy's team, be it bolton, newcastle or blackburn. In a way it worked against us as the players were less inclined to commit themselves on the ball, as to avoid injuries especially being a World Cup year. I don't mind physicality on the pitch, but when it extends to wrestling and flying kicks even when the game isn't running, where's the class in that?Honestly I was bloody delighted Reina saved that header last night. Should have seen the face on their players. And what a hilarious response from Rafa, made my day. |

Well, Capello can always settle for that Almunia chap. He seems half decent.

Even though he plays second fiddle to Casillas in that competition, he still celebrates the throphy like nobody's business. The airplane and Champione celebration videos are stuff of legend. i still remember when Cudicini was suggested to apply for English nationality so that he can play for England but he refused. |

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Mar 1 2010, 09:17 AM) No contract talks with him? Guess he's leaving for free then. =/ I love Aurelio too and on form he is our best LB however he is too injury-prone and is pushing 30 already. We are only lucky because Insua has been fit all season. Dossena has already left, hence I would make a left back purchase a priority this summer. And if we could get a 3rd choice LB (Hopefully) in Mavinga, Aurelio would be a surplus. I believe there are talks with Aurelio but his agent is trying to get him higher salary while Rafa want to decrease a little on his salary. Talks are onhold until summer.Personally, I would like Aurelio to stay.We don't have much players who can deliver great set pieces. He is one of the few we have and losing him isn't something to be happy about. At the moment, he seems content with sitting on the bench and playing in crucial match while letting our young Insua to get match time.I would say if we can hold on on him, it will be great. We wont have to spend more money buying new left back.Let's not forget Glenny can play on left.Even Agger played once in pre season before! Aurelio's experience, set pieces and pin point pass are great assets to the team.Him being injury prone or not, him approaching 30 or not, doesn't matter. We need him to fight for the place with Insua and hopefully Mavinga. As long as he is content with rotating the LB position with Insua, I have no problem with him staying in the club even if he is 35 years old! Aurelio is the one that can deliver good crosses, corner and set-piece for free kick. Better than Gerrard in term of corner and free kick delivery. My view. His crosses and shooting are curling one (some sort like Beckham style) which make defenders hard to defend. |

Last time cristiano Ronaldo don't possess curling freekick but after few years of training he possessed one of the deadliest freekick. |

Yes, it can be praticed and learned, but not everyone can master it. Only a small portion of players can. If cannot, then cannot. |

Hmm...
Just a few posers here la... 1. If you had say, 5-7mil pounds to spend on a young understudy for Reina who would it be? 2. COVER FOR TORRES? Who?? 3. What are we gonna do once Gerrard retires? Do we have any replacements coming up? 4. Transfer market... Say you were Benitez, you had 15mil in the bank and could spend 50% of the transfer fees out (eg. Torres sould for 50mil, can have 25mil to spend FOR EXAMPLE) WHO would you take in an out? Reasonable transfer fees la... And WHY? |
