QUOTE(RedSiglap56 @ Jan 21 2010, 03:26 PM)
Just one win doesn't change everything. It's a nice win and 3 important points .. and that's it! It doesn't vindicate Benitez one bit. Honestly, didn't you shudder when he made his substitutions? :
- Ngog for Aquilani : won't that unbalance the midfield?!
- Maxi for Riera : alright, it's exciting to see Maxi but he won't be able to contribute so quickly
(he's getting on too) and Riera was somewhat threatening on the left and he was
beginning to shoot after he was told!
- Darby for Degen : yes, Degen is limited but removing a more experienced player at that late
stage and putting a young chap out against a Spurs attack that was throwing
                            everything forward?!
I think we caught Spurs on a day when their strikers and attacking midfielders forgot to put on their right boots!
Yes, it was a very welcome win ... but let's not get carried away!

Did not watch the match and assume you did.

Were we protecting a 1 goal lead again? I mean if we were, the subs may not have helped. If we are still pushing forward, probably, the Maxi sub was alright, but the rest was quite questionable.

Hopefully we can keep it up and bring on the momentum. It's Wolves next? Let's hope for a comfortable win. If we don't get the 3 points from the next match, that concludes our season. icon_question.gif

I like Riera too. If compared to the rest like Babel, Aurelio, Benayoun playing on the left wing.

Both Babel and Benayoun loves to cut in, not a bad thing but offers less width. Aurelio on the other hand seems to have a defensive mindset when played on the left wing.

Riera though, goes forward with the ball stuck to his feet very often. Most of the time, he successfully delivers a variety of crosses into the box. Anyone to meet the ball and put them at the back of the net is about the players have great anticipation or not.

He's a great addition to the team as there aren't many natural left wingers left in the game today.

And oh, he's good in the air as well.

I like Ngog very much, I'm pretty sure 1 day he will turn out a good player if not the next Thierry Henry. Give him time.

Just last month, some has been bashing Lucas and this time around, he's improved. Most players need time to hit the right button to get going. Very little are like El Nino who gets started in just 3(is it 3?) games on a debut Anfield appearance with goal against Chelsea.

High expectations have been set since the arrival of Torres, but in reality, we have to accept that he is a rare gem. Many were gutted because Rafa chose Lucas instead of Aqua during the bad times.

With Lucas & Greek improving, seems like now we have a very good line up with very good subs on our bench (Maxi, Aqua, Aurelio, Benny, Degen, Babel). Can't wait for Torres & Johnson to come back and see what the line up is like and with motivation and fighting spirit we've seen in the last 5 games, it's gonna be a interesting season.

All in all, we have a very good squad now, and we just need to have that motivation, belief and fighting spirit to win as many games as possible.

Long long time ago, we bashed Kuyt for not scoring goals, then somehow everyone sees the point of him playing on the right side of midfield.

Then everyone started bashing Lucas saying he'll never replace Xabi, and suddenly, people seem to like him.

Now its N'gog.

Don't you see the pattern already? Rafa sees all the potential in these players. Though N'gog may just be a replacement for Torres. I believe he'll come good soon...real soon.

Stop bashing our own players already. Seriously.

Reina actually played against Liverpool for Barca in 1 of the UEFA Cup. Or was it Champions League. I can't remember. There's a youtube link to it as well.

Can't find it at work la hehe.

I think we're technically, physically, and in anyway strong enough to challenge for the title. The only thing we're lacking is motivation, and maybe tactically.

As you can see, the whole squad are playing in the 1st team for their international squad. Except for some reserves like Reina, Carra(retired).

If people say Lucas is shit, and only Rafa likes to play him, I wonder why does Dunga select him for the Brazil squad.

I'm sure he plays a part for both teams. Maybe it's something that doesn't really make direct impacts to the team. Maybe they are the indirect impacts. I myself am not very sure, but what I know is that he's doing quite well for the team currently and that is why he's keeping Aqua out of the team.
