heck, there's supposedly no team that's less physical than arsenal in the epl, so if glass boy doesn't get a start then, we'd be looking at 20 big ones down the drain

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Feb 8 2010, 05:07 PM) Just to add, I like some posters here cannot help but scoff at comments suggesting that Aquilani wasn't used against Everton because the game was "too physical" for him. What is he? A bloody pansy? If it is really true, why the hell did we buy him anyway considering most English sides, are by nature, physical? Neither Lucas nor Benayoun are built like tanks are they? Nope, Lucas wanted his revenge on mophead so he bribed Rafa to let him play. Mysterious Dr X, don't think Aqua has a 'best' position although he does well in the hole. I think he would excel playing alongside Gerrard, each taking turns to bomb forward and while the other dropping deep. He's an intelligent player and reckon as long as with dynamic players around him, he can play anywhere and still influence the game. QUOTE(RyanHo @ Feb 8 2010, 05:28 PM) Beg to differ, the combination of all the above is what makes a team successful. |

1. I'd prefer to lay the blame on Lucas for Kyrgiakos's red card. He miscontrolled the pass from the Greek and then subsequently put the Greek in trouble. Agree that the Greek shouldn't put two foot to challenge the afro-tw@t but had Lucas be more alert & have better ball control the sent off could've been avoided. Mind you this is not his first time miscontrolling a ball, happened a few times before but he got lucky. A big question mark too why Rafa prefer Lucas against Aquilani.
2. I'm quite surprised some of our fans calling Ngog with bad names. Well his name might not be a handsome one but I believe he's been treated unjustly here. Frankly he did have a few good chances on Saturday and against Bolton he should've scored a couple. But mind you again that he was literally up on his own, chasing the entire opposition defence, has better first touch, ball control and can hold the ball way better than Babel. When Ngog was subbed I expected Babel to show what he's got but sadly nothing works for him anymore. Poor control, a bit lazy to chase the ball and I felt like we're playing with 9 men. This isn't the same Babel I saw 1-2 years ago. Maybe it's better to ship him off asap while he's still got some value left. |

whats with the ngog bashing? he did ok as lone front man. torres also would struggle in that physical team. peenar get whats he deserved from gerrard. and afro shite damn dirty when kicking kuyt on the face. that was intentional no matter how andy bluenose gray try to deny it.
the greek should not tackle like dat and red card cant be avoided. saying that.. the afro shite also should be red carded This post has been edited by rushmode: Feb 8 2010, 08:16 PM |

QUOTE(RedSiglap56 @ Feb 8 2010, 03:27 PM) Ngog is a really interesting player - played well during pre-season, was poor whenever he played during the season until the recent three games. Yes, he doesn't look like a natural scorer now but he really improved in terms of ball control and holding. i think having babel in kinda makes sense....coz he's pretty quick, some babel fans out there did post here saying that he's amongst the quickest in EPL, so when the team is back defending n everton all too busy in their attack, trying to capitalize on their one-man advantage, babel's speed could be vital in counter attackHe's a little bit of Heskey (because of his built and strength) and a little bit of Crouch (because of his height and surprisingly good ball control). I felt it was a mistake replacing him with Babel. Even if Ngog's tired, he could still be relied upon to trap the ball when others pass to him and hold it till someone comes. Babel .. was just running around like a headless chicken - couldn't even control the ball properly .. sigh! but unfortunately he disappointed yet again, as he's still the same headless chicken ( tho i think he did lay off a pretty good pass, ONE good pass), and also he's rather slack in tracking back to defend, probably he was under the order to stay upfront and charge down any possible chances of counterattack.... still the same tho, poor movement off or with the ball, poor 1st touch, not taking on players or rather not able to Added on February 8, 2010, 9:59 pm QUOTE(Duke Red @ Feb 8 2010, 05:07 PM) Just to add, I like some posters here cannot help but scoff at comments suggesting that Aquilani wasn't used against Everton because the game was "too physical" for him. What is he? A bloody pansy? If it is really true, why the hell did we buy him anyway considering most English sides, are by nature, physical? Neither Lucas nor Benayoun are built like tanks are they? i think its not due to the physicality solely....aqua is a man that requires a lil space n time with the ball to be effective, not that he's not able to play without them, but without space and time on the ball, he will be reduced to just another player....a derby will be played at a high tempo, so much so it kinda killed the smooth passing football and reduced it to a scrappy physical battle to win the ball, hence lucas & masch....but against other teams that allows a lil more time and space, that's where aqua can be at his best....with his vision and passing This post has been edited by ezikie1: Feb 8 2010, 09:59 PM |

You don't win the game with brute speed. You win it with game intelligence. If it's all about speed, why not field 11 olympic runners on field? but unfortunately he disappointed yet again, as he's still the same headless chicken ( tho i think he did lay off a pretty good pass, ONE good pass), and also he's rather slack in tracking back to defend, probably he was under the order to stay upfront and charge down any possible chances of counterattack.... still the same tho, poor movement off or with the ball, poor 1st touch, not taking on players or rather not able to Unless and until he make good use of his speed like his 1st season, he's not gonna break into 1st team.N'Gog will always be in front of him. N'Gog is soo soo much better than him in terms of reading the game and be at the place where he should be. |

QUOTE(CrossFirE @ Feb 8 2010, 05:04 PM) Yes, when I first time heard match commentator said, I was surprised as well. Seem like each match play poorly, need to battle hard, win scrappy here and there, lucky goal etc. No good perforamance etc. But for last 7 matches, Liverpool only conceded once only. Kind of unbelieveable if not looking back the stats. But mostly against not in-form team generally, not yet against big 3 teams. |

Seem like each match play poorly, need to battle hard, win scrappy here and there, lucky goal etc. No good perforamance etc. everton was in good form and they was clueless against rafa's system. it's ugly the way liverpool winning of late but as long as it's 3 points i have no complain. chelsea was ugly when mourinho won the 1st season he won the league. But for last 7 matches, Liverpool only conceded once only. Kind of unbelieveable if not looking back the stats. But mostly against not in-form team generally, not yet against big 3 teams. if liverpool win against the arse and blue mancs.. ugly or not i dont care |

What Moyes said:
"You need special players at the top end of the pitch and most of the top teams have that. We lacked that today. We kept the ball and did the right things, and when it went to 11 v 10 we showed that there isn't a big gap between Liverpool and Everton. It was a set piece that changed the game." I can't believe he just said that |

QUOTE(aiyish @ Feb 9 2010, 10:36 AM) I think he (Moyes) was trying to say "Thank God Fellaini (Afro-man) made Kyrigiakos got sent out, or else Liverpool would have trashed us 20-0!!!"I'm very, very sure of it. (cynical remark towards Everton) |

QUOTE(Zephyr_Mage @ Feb 9 2010, 08:54 AM) What Moyes said: What he means is that Everton is a small club. "You need special players at the top end of the pitch and most of the top teams have that. We lacked that today. We kept the ball and did the right things, and when it went to 11 v 10 we showed that there isn't a big gap between Liverpool and Everton. I can't believe he just said that QUOTE "I was surprised at Everton's response," said Rafael BenÃtez, when discussing Sotirios Kyrgiakos' addition to the roll of dismissed and dishonoured in a fixture only the converted could love. "I was expecting more penetrating passes and for them to try and play on the floor. They had Mikel Arteta on but they played direct. That made it easier for us. "It was easier to control. When you are losing with 11 players against 10, but you have to win, sometimes you are a little bit more nervous and play more direct. That made it easier for us to control the situation. It suited us." A direct hit at the heart of David Moyes' assertion there is little between the two sides. |
