from the photo, is it show engine leaking?[attachmentid=2367300]

probably your mechanic didnt replace the seals on the distributor side. and open the distributor cap to see if theres any oil in int. sweat.gif femes B14 GA16DE problem.

finally check the oil cap for creamy substance.....if yes then there is a leakage in your coolant system. start from top down inspection, dont just 'overhaul'. Good Luck

QUOTE(key_ow @ Aug 4 2011, 02:50 PM)
overhaul wil cost how much? doh.gif

mayi know how to test the b14 auto gear box? how i know whether it got problem or good? going to test B14 soon.  rclxub.gif
*
B14 auto gearbox usually no problem if its properly taken care of as in the gearbox oil get changed regularly (stipulated service interval). problems are like extremely hard shifting, refusal to shift etc etc.

QUOTE(crusher @ Aug 16 2011, 02:45 PM)
hi guys, I'm Nissan 1997 B14 1.6 Owner. Recently, my car's engine produce weird sound after I've pump Shell 95 petrol twice. Anyone encountered this before? Whenever I start my engine, it has a weird insect-alike sound.
*
If its a soft knocking noise (extremely soft) then your engine is 'knocking' that you can blame on the fuel....you need a timing adjustment (retard timing). otherwise I guess its one of your accessory belt or belts. good luck

QUOTE(cheezzzz @ Aug 18 2011, 01:52 PM)

"I work for nissan. Overdrive can be left on at all times where it gets the best gas mileage. By turning OD off light on shifts down to third gear which is good for stop and go around town where the highest gear is seldomly used. Also over gearing slows the motor speed resulting longer lasting engine."
*
this one is correct, it retains your gear ratio to third gear. lower ratio = higher speed....like some ppl rev the engine to death or someones aunty always driving in 1st gear and dunno why the engine die sweat.gif

QUOTE(xphr3ak @ Aug 18 2011, 10:26 PM)
Thanks for correcting me about OD.
BUT
What i felt was different.

I've drove my friend car (Myvi).
When i turn on the OD mode, the engine sound was like roaring.

Guys, plz recommend me best absorber for b14 (comfort setup).

i've surveyed at sparepart shop, they quoated for kayaba rm145 (2 weeks warranty).:
GAB Sports SA Series RM420.
Still can find Tokico brand.

My question is which one?
GAB or Kayaba?

TQ.
*
good luck I have been looking for a good setup and found none. nothing last any period of time. you want comfort stick with original. but I would check all bushings and suspension mounts the same time.

the rear suspension is terrible in a B14 because it has an extremely short travel, which equates to riding on bumpstops if you are full seated ( duduk 4 orang) again good luck

its inside the distributor cap......there should be an oil seal failure in there. you have to replace the whole assembly, dun buy potong kereta one. Long run new is cheaper. Source for it in spare part shops.

Do a leak down test. Not many workshops do it. If they ask you what is it...means you have to find another mechanic.

Suspension noise, check all your bushings and suspension mount.

Check your wiring with regards to the meter.

Check your distributor for oil. If yes, see if you can find someone to change the oil seal. Then refer the guy to me laugh.gif .

Change the gearbox oil to synthetic transmission oil (I know more expensive).

Change to 10-60 engine oil and use original/OEM oil filter fake ones are known to collapse (I know more expensive).

Change brake fluid and check brake lines/ disc/ drum. check brake pads. break in the pads gently if you do change them.

Change all the coolant hoses( theres a few behind the intake manifold and engine block) Change radiator fluid remember to add long life coolant (I know very expensive).

Once the suspension is fixed go to a proper alignment shop. Not just any tire shop.

The alignment for the rear of the B14 cannot be adjusted unless you want to use a hydraulic jack. and not everyone can do this because you need to rig the torsion arm its hollow. you jack that it will be crushed.

Buy the best tires you can afford, it helps in the overall handling of the vehicle. It also helps in the braking department.
160-200 a piece is about right. if you have to upgrade your rims....go 15" best for performance and ride but range of available tires are limited. 16" is max with that size your turning radius would be dramatically reduced.

Whatever you do, dont use those lowering springs. The rear has only an inch of travel. so guess what happens if you do choose to lower your ride.

Most important check for chocolate mousse in the oil. means your cylinder head is kaput, if someone says the cracked cylinder head can be fixed I would like to meet him and stick it up his X@#.

With that Good Luck. Its a great car, better then the civics trust me.

Oh adjust your timing based on your fuel.

if you plan on using ron 95 you might need to retard your timing, otherwise the GA16DE you can advance it further to get more 'power'. As standard the timing is RETARDED (pun intended)

DIY when have time, if bigger job 'cincai' find one mechanic with correct tools.

You can try advancing till it pings then step back a notch. there are no timing marks only notches.

Good Luck

sorry no experience with N16. probably one of the sensors throwing a code. The list is just too long. I usually start from the top down. clean up intake manifold----> check MAF ----->ignition system ------> O2 sensor -------> fuel pump.......in between check wiring.

EVERYONE ELSE =P

need pricing on parts if you have it please for GA16DE B14 Sentra. Going to revive old faithful, one of my cars got stolen sweat.gif

Checked radiator empty, coolant hoses all taken <removed>, gonna trickle charge the battery and change all fluids (EO), all brake pads, coolant hoses, all dampers. and tires.

Service aircon then Puspakom.

Nissan Sentra 2010 N16 (M)

Added on August 23, 2011, 9:13 amHi people,

I want to ask few question. My car is N16 2010. I go to Nissan Batu Caves today

1) I want to complain about my head lamp problem (tak menyala) and that guy said this is not under warranty. Is it true?
2) I want to install fog lamp to my car and he said cost around RM2K. Is it reasonable price?

the thick wires that goes into one plastic cap sticking out on the right hand side of the cylinder head. Just take off the cap and look for traces of oil.

turn off overdrive...its the button on the shift stick tongue.gif . If your mech says its transmission, time to post his name and shop address here. Change to a higher grade transmission oil. full synth if you can afford it.

Buy new unit friend. Trust me on this. I made the mistake of reconditioned units because there is no guarantee the circuits are working. I am luckier since I 'had' a good working relationship with a 'potong' shop
