Hi my serena is not the carb version but fuel injection. Thr enginw is without thevtc version. It is not that underpowered but i must say it is just right. As it is already 10 years old. I was wonderimg if the newer engime be better powered.

My 2006 Sentra 1.6 A/T gets 13km/liter, so that times 50liter tank = 650km with Aircond but mostly hwy travelling.

So manual should be able to achieve the same or better. Better to make simple calculations rather than to run your tank dry though....

There's only one SR20DET from the Pulsar, which is the N14 generation, the RNN14. But that engine is very old now, and very hard to find.

Ah, I see... A 10-year-old engine is not that old, to be honest. But changing to a larger capacity engine like a 2.0L would make the car feel much more "lighter".

The 2.0l will no doubt lighter but at the expanse of high fuel consumption. As my version is manual the gearing is high i.e 110kmh equals 3200rpm. if change to 2l engine my transmission also need to change. As of now it runs sweetly on fuel consumption.
I was toying with the idea of B14 engine as no much changes to mounting but with added a bit of power. Any one can recommend any good mechanic to advise me.

hi guys, I'm getting a thirdhand Nissan Sentra B14 aka Super Saloon from my bro, just in condition that I need to maintain myself, since he always outstation, I don't know who to ask about car maintainence.

FYI, the car is a on manual. He told me every month need around RM80 for engine oil+oil filter+black oil and etc. Take it average 2,500km/month.

What about the fuel consumptions? Is it very high? Actually how to calculate the FC? He says the car consume RM30 per trip excluding toll if I travel from Setapak to Subang/DU. That makes me need to pump up RM500/month

Please advise me about how to maintain the car and roughly how much do I need to spend for it every month as I always travel Subang to Setapak OR sometimes Damansara Uptown to Setapak as I don't know ANYTHING about cars.

Your advise and help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance. Cheers! smile.gif

Not every month.
Just normal a maintenance.
1) Change engine oil (5000km)
2) Change oil filter
3) I always check the tyre pressure for every fuel up.

Where do you travel the most?
80% city : Seremban
20% jalan lama : balik kampung

Thanks.

Oh I think i saw it on my bro's desk at home. I think that car since year 1995-1997. Around that age, but my bro recently just changed the engine as the previous engine rosak liao.

It depends on you tyre. Mine 220kPA/32psi < what do you mean by this? =/

So many factors to get a good FC :
Engine condition - i think consider as new because he just changed it 2 months ago
Tyre condition - also new because he changed it 2 months ago
Driving style - driving style I still need to get use to it for the clutch pedal and accelator pedal. if not I mati engine before. doh.gif
Road - malaysia road all normal right to see lubang2.
what else? is it the best to check the FC is to drive around the area i in for a month?
