Hi guys

I have a buddy that is kinda a fitness, martial arts sorta guy. But years ago he injured his wrists...something very much like karpal tunnel.

So he was sorta asking around...is there any weight resistance exercise that involves minimal wrist strength

He can still do pull ups like 8 times without help(i can't do more than 2 tongue.gif), but it irritates the wrists

So i am looking for some suggestion.... for

chest
shoulder
back

I could only think of front squat which sorta works the upper body a little. But not really right?
Anything you guys come across?

dip would tax a lot on his wrist as well.
most presses involves wrist work.
wat i would suggest is he train his legs for now and maybe some pulling activity. example barbell rows, lat pulldowns or chinups. minimize the wrist rotation.
avoid those activities involving pushing heavy things.
barbell bench press or shoulder press etc.

he's actually still super fit. Can run infinately and with six pacs.

Just the upper body
yes i think that's a good idea...pulling activity

chinups are like pull ups ya?
and lat pulldowns are diff for him too

barbell rows sound good..yes should work
any other pulling?

or any other ideas..would be great

thanks

Bench lying row.

You can wear wrist guard / strap to help you carry the load.

Get a wrist strap and do light weights with high reps for now.

dumbell rows lor...
shrugs? hmmm upright rows.
well, i think he could try chin up instead of pull ups.
chin up i think less taxing to the wrist. as for me la. =.=
he can do some light wrist work to strengthen his wrist.

- Kettlebell exercises, perhaps?
- How about rehabilitating the wrist? (like seeing a sports doctor or physiotherapist)
- use fat bars? Fat bars are normally easier on the wrist.

Here's a few suggestions in the article:

chest - machine flys
shoulder - barbell shrugs, upright row (close grip), nautilus/machine raise,
back - cable/db/pendlay row, chin up (underhand), hyperxtension, good mornings
