got a few question. I just enroll myself into a gym, but im all by my own. I do not have friends with me. The question is, who is gonna be my supporter? carying my weights and all? Btw, its celebrity gym @ sunway. Is it tough being all by your self in a gym? what motivates you?

U can always reach out to other people there, talk to them, make friends. Ask politely if they can spot u .

Why do you need motivation to do something that makes you look better, healthier and fitter? If you really need motivation, just tell yourself you paid for something so freakin expensive without knowing what you got yourself into so might as well make the best out of it. I doubt you need a spotter at this stage.

My gym partners/mates all I got to know from there. There are 4 of them that I train pretty close with. The rest are hi and bye and act as spotter sometimes.

I always find it odd that some people need other people to motivate them in the gym if not they'll be demotivated and bla bla bla. You are the motivator of your own destiny, not some guy yelling, "you can do it!" when you're dumbbell bench pressing 10kgs total.

Gosh, I sound like a prick.

I often see people lifting DB way over their effort. If you need support after 6 reps, to push another 2 reps or 4 reps is fine. But if you can't even do more than 2 reps by your own, no point la, risk of getting injury only. But is ok to have the feel of it by doing 1 or 2 reps once in a while.

I go alone and train alone, if u cant handle the weight, dont let ur ego overwhelm u and learn a few technique to escape from failure set (sheet happen sumtime).

Have numbers of fren there, but rarely have them spotting me only if we happen to train together.

spotter is good but not a must...try workout with poundages that suits your reps...as time pass, you'll be amaze on how supportive your gym mate are...just be friendly with them...they'll be there to spot you soon enough...

don't bash TS lah.

Some people are externally motivated, and some are internally motivated. I was about to talk cock and tease TS, then I think about it... different people, different poison.

hmm, training alone here but with my mp3 player full of energetic songs, i'm up for the exercises. Its not tough being all by yourself in a gym though you might get intimidated when your first start...i know i did, but as you are more often there, you'll get used to it, just do your own thing and dont care what other ppl are doing...

Maybe some of u guys prefer to have gym mates to workout together etc, being ure spotter and all... but as long as you workout with weights you can handle, you are good. Of course you must not let your ego cause yourself injuries. Know your limits and don't push it too hard.

But to be honest, training alone would be more effective in my case...because once friends start yepping away, i would get distracted and the intensity of the training becomes lower due to over yepping rofl... so yeah i prefer training alone as i find it more intensive and focused.

I do my workout alone too. But when you're alone, the risk of getting your form wrong is kinda high. That's the only problem I think I'm having. It always great to have someone to have your workout with, IMO.

I usually work out alone, and I prefer it that way. Except for that one time when I dropped a fully loaded bar onto my stomach. Then I wished I had a spotter.

Whenever I'm in trouble I dump the bar to one side. I don't really want to streamroll my guts by rolling the bar to my waist :|
