can I borrow my fren retial windows 7 home premium to reformat rather than using the Acer recovery disc but use the key given by acer?

better use the Acer Recovery.. Den you manualy remove the softwares provided that you dont use.. Works alot for me..

Remember to use CCleaner to clean the system and registry too smile.gif

Defrag your system as well to keep it smooth and steady.. biggrin.gif

oh ya, btw, the HD suppose to be 500G, but the size it shown only 450G?

Its not really 500GB, since the 1GB interpretation is different for marketing and computer. Computer wise, 500GB is 465GB while the lost 15GB most likely for its hidden recovery partition.

i think all HDD will have their own hidden recovery..

i'm using empowering technology-Acer eRecovery Management..
it works fine..
but need to backup partition first & just recall it back when you need it..
simple to use.. smile.gif

Well, I've tried opening many applications at once (word, photoshop, internet browser, a game, etc) and it doesn't hang or show signs of hanging. It really is quite stupid to run so many applications when we only constantly use one or 2 maybe 3 at most. I do not comprehend why some people can 'abuse' their laptop by running hundreds of things at once. Respect your notebook and it will serve you for a long time to come.

Btw, if there were any hanging issues with 5740, it would have been up here on the forum such as the 4740?

maybe it's the same for hanging issue with model 4740..
don't forget to maintenance your lappy regularly..
