Wow, getting tired of proving info, eh smile.gif

Oneperson, where are you located?
*
Bru... its not tat i'm tired .. sometimes just frustrated with wat really happening in our society. I've been taught from young tat whenever i asked for
anything there must be a 'please and ends with a thank you'.

if u dun believe me, do observe how often tis two magic words been used in the entire lowyat.com ? hmm.gif *sigh*

Btw: i got Mei2 barcus Berry 4000 planar wave piezo pickup. .. tested it ... WONDERFUL !
tat day i used the AKG C411 in Klang Parade.. not bad at all.
My buddie is now in Shanghai Musical Instrument Fair.. i told him to get me another 2sets of Dunhuang Type B strings.
Pls let me know if u like to have one of them as they are backup strings for mei-mei and she loves them; robust BASS.
I can pass one set to u @ cost price. thumbup.gif

Somehow "please" and "thank you" dont seem to have that much of an effect on me. Motivation to act or not act are not triggered by the usage of these words. I tend to get moved when "不好意思,麻烦你一下,“ were used. Make you feel the obligation. Somehow translating them to english dont seem to have the same effect.

Okay, I will take the extra set of strings for back up. Thanks for looking after your "orang kampung" smile.gif

Added on October 11, 2010, 12:19 pmHah, must be fully book for preformance eh, empire.

"不好意思,麻烦你一下" or "对不起,麻烦你一下" certainly will melts even the coldest heart but a simple pls and tha not tat hard right ! *sigh* mayb i am gettin old alridi ..

yeah ... u need good thick material and tough guzheng bag... made from nylon.. with padding and inner support.... not like those flimsy pariah ones tat they gave us when we purchased our guzheng.

Cost RM120.... i got one for mei-mei.

Well, maybe you can start by trying to play a cheap electronic keyboard first. At least you try out how well you do with both hands and maybe learn some musical notes as well (i dunno whether western musical notes applies to Gu Zheng though...) Gu Zheng is a  pretty expensive investment.

I used to have a friend who can play GuZheng...we called her "Tung Fong Putt Pai" (The character played by Brigitte Lin in quite a lot of those kungfu movies in late 80's or early 90's....LOL).
*
i think Faceless would b very happy if been name tis title "六指琴魔" (lok chee kam mor) ... LOL ! veri good kungfu.

Faceless : yeah.... spot on bru.
i am arranging a special private guzheng workshop for mei-mei in next few weeks by a visitin guzheng master if he can spare some of his limited
time during his visit to KampungKUL. Wan to sit in?

Ohhh yeah .. there will be a Malaysian Open Chinese Instrument Solo Competition in Terengganu next year. I will update upon having more infos.

Cassie is away now in Nottingham UK having a 'jolly' good time tryin to adapt her new life there.
Seems tat she got to give up guzheng for awhile.

*Cassie if u see tis ... do scrable something pls lar. ...i know u r busy uploadin photos of ur new life to FB... BUT we miss u". wub.gif

Oneperson: dun worry much about not able to read/understand Mandarin. I've seen a pure Malaysia Indian sitting for his G3 Erhu CCOM exam
last year in Sunway Mentari.
He is doing a course now in UTar Kampar campus... he didn't sit in tis year exam as too busy.
Music breaks all barriers mate. Do have fun. icon_rolleyes.gif

I play Zhonghu, Erhu, Dizi, GuZheng and ZhongRuan. The hardest of all is the ZHonghu ad Erhu. It's not for the faint hearted! This bowing instrument requires discpline.
*
Empire : you r right chinese erhu/zhonghu/gauhu are one of the toughest ... 2 strings and a bow in between them... not easy to
control. Slight mistake during bowing string A one might touch string B with the other side of the bow.

But it's indeed another beauty.

u r right.. erhu can sound depressing at times..... its mellowness can makes the soul goes wandering...

My sister has an erhu, she used to play in orchestra during high school. I tried to play it, i gave up.  biggrin.gif i pick up guitar instead. My sister no more playing, it's collecting dust in the room now. Just now i took out and play, the tone becomes very horrible, my sis told me the snake skin is worn out. I think i'll just leave it there.

la bella : just watch tis .... howz the sound of ERHU ? GOOD RIGHT ? rclxms.gif

I'm interested in gu zheng after i listened to 渔舟唱晚 (fishermen singing at dusk). I have not played a guzheng before. What level is that song? Is it hard to play?

I actually prefer gu zheng than erhu, i just love the strings sound. I went cd shop and bought a classical gu zheng cd. I like songs such as 渔舟唱晚 fishermen, 战台风 fighting typhoon, 寒鸭戏水 jackdaws playing on water,  高山流水 high mountain and flowing water and a lot more. Wah those songs are very nice, really classic. wub.gif

*
Thx for sharing the Vivs. clip.

渔舟唱晚 is Grade 4 exam piece.

战台风 , 高山流水 are Grade 7 songs... 战台风 normally the so call complusory song.. dun no why hmm.gif

寒鸭戏水 is Grade 8. Mei-mei now doing all these songs as now she is between these Grades... ah pa often can hear them @ home. thumbup.gif

----------------------------------------------------

i gtg now for BKT @ klang ... will update u later a veri good song ... mei-mei fav.

QUOTE(empire @ Oct 17 2010, 10:53 AM)
When the bridge is left on the snake skin for more than 3 months without playing, the stress from the string pessure will gradually rip the skin. Once the skin is destroyed, there's way to you can reapir it...unless you change the skin. This is easier said than done. Where the heck can you kill a Phyton...and how do you know the way to skin it and glue it to the erhu?

That's why it's only logical to throw that erhu away and buy a new one.

Added on October 17, 2010, 10:54 amI always remove the bridge when I dont play it. This will free the skin from any pressure.
*
u r right Empire but dun throw it away lar.... donate to Old China Cafe. I'm sure the boss will be more than happy to put up in his shop
as for decoration and will be appreciated by all patrons.

ok.. as i promise.. mei-mei fav. song.

Even if you can find one you had other issues to deal with because now they are endangered spieces. I know a carpenter who also makes erhu. He is going to take me pyton hunting  shocking.gif  when I am ready to commission him to make my erhu.

I will be going into Taman Negara via Jerantut ; Kuala Tahan next week to one of my site ... near completion for handing over back to client.

can ask around the kamping folks there for ur erhu 'soundboard' ... there not only got ur 'soundboard'.... 'BIG' strip cat & elephants also

Yes, do inquire about the erhu soundboard. It was nice of Empire to enlighten us to remove the bridge when not playing for a long time. So, I can make the erhu first and keep it until I am ready to take it up. As I understand it the soundboard is chosen because it wide enough. Other speces are too "thin". I dont even know the required dimension.
*
the only type of soundboard i know in tat area is the normal type lor..... 100% not Anaconda ... hahaha.
last few trips seen the act of one stole some chicken from them... only the bulu ayam remain.
