Mapril who stays in Bruce Hall? By the way, how do you think of ANU Engineering Department?
*
what? I do not stay in Bruce Hall!!! I only go there quite often... tongue.gif

anyway, for certain reasons i actually won't recommend people who are keen to pursue B. Engineering in ANU...
Not that I want to be sarcastic or so, but I myself is taking 2nd year had been through a lot of lecturer problems throughout the course.

the lecturer is the main problem of ANU engineering department... I think they are hired more towards because they are good in doing research instead of teaching.

but some of the other lecturers are quite nice and good smile.gif

Um.. I don't know where's North Adelaide actually.. I always lost in the town because some bus stop doesn't go to certain places although it likes same route.. It's really confusing.. Internet broadband here is extremely expensive.. I just opened my bank acc on friday, ANZ bank..

I'm not sure about BankSA, but ANZ just need my passport.. And I use the bank draft which I prepared from Malaysia to deposit into my acc.. And they don't provide bank saving book, everything has to refer to internet account.. I heard them said that optus is the best mobile network here as there are many students using it.. you could check it.. smile.gif

But it's really extremely expensive for me.. Charges is based on download volume and I'm heavy user.. It isn't like Msia streamyx that can unlimited download.. :/

Yes.. I went to Rundle Mall yesterday.. A set of Japanese food + orange juice around 12AUD+.. My hostel is providing meals everyday and it's included in rental fees but it's still cheap and worth.. wink.gif

Get a compass and go North from Uni Adelaide. tongue.gif
North Adelaide is a nice suburb quite near to uni and most residential colleges are located there.

Have you done your student ID?
Just bring passport and student id.
You can apply Complete Freedom Student Account.
Zero account fees and basically full feature bank account includes bankcard/debit card, unlimited transaction via BankSA, Westpac, and St. George bank's ATMs and EFTPOS.
You can also applied Express Saver(current rate 4.25% per-annum), but you have to do that at a different branch (BSB), but you can apply online for it.
I usually leave the bulk of my money in Express Saver and transfer it to my current account every month, real easy via online banking.

For those who wants really good solid internet in terms of reliability and performance , i recommend internode, but their service is kinda premium and 100% good for gamers especially if you have a steam account and a ps3 since the download is unmetered.
You want "unlimited" download then try aaNet, but you have to sign 24 months contract to get their "unlimited" download during off-peak.

Most people go for 3 Mobile because the majority of their plans provide the best bang for buck, but 3's coverage and call quality have been one of their banes.

Internet-wise, not sure about other cities but if you're in Melbourne then go for tpg whenever possible. Best packages available, and it probably has the lowest rate of disconnection. The tpg in my old place hardly ever have any problems, while the iinet in my current place sometimes freezes whenever there's heavy usage (eg housemates playing online games).

3 mobile->3G coverage only
Optus etc ->3G + GSM coverage.u can't use 3 sim card if ur phone is not a 3G phone
choose a mobile based on how many of ur friends using it.( so that u can utilize the free minutes lol)
as to call back to malaysia, buy a lebara mobile sim.1 cent per minute to call to any malaysia number + 20 cents flagfall.topup AUD 10 and u the validity is 1 month.

as for bank account,i advise u to open an account with commonwealth bank.been using it and love it.ask for a student account as a student account if free of charge.

currently an ee student at monash clayton,VIC

Added on February 14, 2010, 5:14 pmas for internet,TPG or Iinet only.but do check for ports availability to make sure u can enjoy adsl2+ speeds.clayton xde adsl2+ ports da.kesian my junior haha

no issues so far and loving it. maybe coz its a huge leap from malaysia's crappy screamyx?

I have a question, normally how long does visa application takes to process? and the most important is just the medical check up right?
