QUOTE(Shooterz @ Dec 23 2010, 01:22 PM) ok , thanks gome basically , the authorized medical centre will deal with the aussie immigration about my results and if they accept it , my visa is complete ? thanks , didn't bump into this when i'm searching before ya you just need to go and do the check up and the panel clinic will send the results to immigration and that completes the application and they will start assessing your visa application. After that wait a few days or at most 10 working days and you'll get notified whether your visa has been approved or rejected.

QUOTE(podrunner @ Dec 26 2010, 04:30 PM) Can you please enlighten how long is takes between (3) and (4). Can the medical checkup be done prior to the issuance of eCOE? Thanks. you don't actually have to wait for an email telling you to do the medical check up. Once your done filling all your details on the online application and paid for the visa processing fee online via credit card,it will display that you need to perform a medical check up and chest x-ray at one of their panel clinics to complete your visa application. The medical checkup CAN'T be done prior to the issuance of eCoE. You can only do the medical checkup for the student visa when they tell you to do so which is after you're done filling in info and paying for the online visa application and the online visa application can not be completed without your eCoE. QUOTE(podrunner @ Dec 26 2010, 04:54 PM) Thanks. How long will the medical checkup results be known? Am waiting for the eCOE, even though have already paid half the fees. The institution is waiting for physical recipt of academic transripts prior to issuance of eCOE. Problem is, they're on christmas hols till 9 Jan, and am booked to leave country 17th Jan. I should perhaps give them a call later this week, and hopefully someone will be working. After you've done the medical check up and x-ray, depending on which panel clinic you go to, they will immediately either submit the results online to aussie immigration or mail it to them. After that it could take as early as 2,3 days (if the panel clinic submitted the results online) or could take up to 10 working days for them to tell you whether your student visa has been approved or rejected depending on their workload during that time and January is kinda peak time when so many students are applying for visas so usually from what I gather it takes a week or so.

QUOTE(podrunner @ Dec 26 2010, 10:16 PM) Ok, thank you so much, much appreciated! Added on December 26, 2010, 10:23 pmExcuse me again, how long after the medical is visa granted? Thanks in advance For me my visa got approved in 2 days. I did my online visa application on Monday, did my medical check up of Tuesday and my student visa got approved on Thursday though that was early this month, not that many people are doing their student visas yet. Now with a lot of students already having full offers etc. they will be a whole bunch of people applying for student visa now increasing immigration's work load so it could take up to 10 working days.

QUOTE(Shooterz @ Dec 28 2010, 12:19 AM) we are asked to do our visa in january why? You can do your student visa as early as 120 days before course commencement. If you have everything ready you should do right away, it's more convenient to do it before the whole crowd comes in.

QUOTE(J@nMon @ Dec 30 2010, 12:59 AM) Hey guys, which one to prefer? I've got two offers from Mel U and La Trobe U. Mainly focus in Melbourne. Major in Business for undergraduate. I heard that both are good in business. However, La trobe U tuition fee is cheaper. I just want to know about the environment in Mel U and La Trobe U. How is the ppl around there or sort of...i got some feedback from others that la trobe students aren't that ?friendly? Is that true? o.0 I'd prefer Melbourne Uni any day ignoring the fees over La Trobe.

QUOTE(pyws1223 @ Jan 9 2011, 09:55 PM) why is it that no one goes to north australia? Well since the only University in the Northern Territory is Charles Darwin University. and Malaysians prefer to go to the bigger cities like Sydney and Melbourne or Perth,Brisbane or Adelaide and concentrate on Go8 or ATN Universities or places like Tamania would still seem more appealing at least to me than the northern territory ^^ This post has been edited by Hikari0307: Jan 9 2011, 10:22 PM

QUOTE(immabee @ Jan 10 2011, 11:46 PM) Another dumb question here. While awaiting for other offers, I intend to accept this conditional offer as a backup just in case there are no more upcoming offers from other universities. A few days ago, I've submitted documents that prove eligibility for my course so that I can turn my conditional offer to unconditional. In this case, is it normal if I accept an offer before the deadline but pay after the deadline? if I'm not mistaken you can't accept an offer without paying the deposit for tuition fees

QUOTE(zstan @ Jan 11 2011, 06:22 PM) lol i am at selangor. anybody from queensland? is UQ affected? I just got this email from UQ today. QUOTE Information on Queensland Flood Situation From: noreply@its.uq.edu.au Sent: Tuesday, 11 Jan, 2011 2: 26 PM To:
Dear Students As I am sure you are aware Queensland has received unprecedented levels of rain and there have been instances of severe flooding in the north of the state for the past two weeks. Due to more localised rain Brisbane and surrounding areas are now affected and it is expected that there will be flooding in low level areas of Brisbane over the next few days. We firmly believe that the start to the semester will not be impacted and that orientation and our preparation programs will not be disrupted. If you are arriving in Brisbane over the next week, we would encourage you to delay your arrival until the current situation is resolved. If you are delaying your arrival and have booked for airport pickup and temporary accommodation then please ensure you amend your arrival details. If you are unable to delay your arrival or have already arrived in Brisbane please ensure you stay aware of changing conditions as advised through the bulletins issued online or by radio (for example, ABC 612) or on television. In an emergency please call 000 for assistance but note that this number is for emergency situations only. If you need urgent assistance or advice from the university contact UQ Security on 3365-1234. For any on campus emergencies please contact UQ Security Emergency number 3365 3333. We will continue to keep you advised about the current situation and will keep information regarding the situation updated on our website, www.uq.edu.au. If you are one of UQ's educational representatives, we would appreciate if you could relay this message to all students who plan to commence their studies at UQ in Semester 1. Kind Regards Dr Anna Ciccarelli Deputy Vice Chancellor International The University of Queensland

QUOTE(mushroomgirl @ Jan 15 2011, 01:49 AM) do students get an extra baggage (instead of the usual 20kg) ? I'm flying to Melb, just booked through S'pore Airlines. I don't think 20kg is enough for me check the specific airline on their policy. Some like MAS needs you to apply for their grad card and then they will give extra 10kg
