yeah, I also heard that 3 coverage is bad in QLD, but my seniors told me that Vodafone is ok. most of us are planning to go for vodafone right now, but still haven't been finalised yet.

Hahahaha. Just touched down to Perth not long ago. Got me quite a shock as I saw the city is even smaller than several Malaysia cities except KL though they have scattered suburbs and really quiet at late night. Needs time to get used with it. I understand how it feels to have the boredom. Was a bit moody area and clearly I have observed what you've just said. It's so true! Was not used with the chinese food here due to the portion and the way they prepared theirs, quite heavy. However, that's not the main purpose to come over to Perth. For my first impression, it's not really the place to be. But you'll never know. Let's just see what happens within a year. I'll keep you guys updated if I've the time. wink.gif. Sry if you have spent few minutes of your life reading nonsense.

There are only 4 telco's in Australia (three if you see Vodafone and Three as one). Any others are just MVNO's (Google it).

Vodafone and Three may be one company now, but they're still not quite sharing their infrastructure yet, and for all its flaws Vodafone has better coverage than Three.

I wouldn't jump into any contracts after landing. Get a prepaid SIM and see if the plan and coverage suits you. Australia has MNP (google it), so you can change your carrier while keeping your number. However, its not that easy to change telco's while you're in contract.

And please, please, read everything before signing up for anything. I've had enough of people who can't read, sign up for a contract and try to get out of it 2 months down the road and moan that they're now legally bound for the next 24 months, and expect me to give them a escape hatch.

The Trade Practices Act and Fair Trading Act(s) are awesome, but they're not meant to protect the stupid.

OR.... alternatively, u can sign for what i did. i took the SIM ONLY plan.... so i'm not bound by a contract. it gives me my BIS service and yeah, the usual cap stuff...emphasizing on what haya said, pls READ the cap INCLUSIONS, don't let silly actions and mistakes cause your bill to blow the roof... smile.gif

As onelove89 pointed out, i personally have received a letter from iinet about torrenting.

(pardon the talk about illegal torrents here, i'm in no way supporting people to download torrents, but merely discussing about my previous acts which i myself am responsible to)

As shown, most of the isps have been having a hard time handling with all these copyright issues and court decisions, they'd probably wanna start easy with a smaller state-based internet provider before going after big firms like Telstra and Optus.

Btw, i don't think they'll know that you download from megaupload or any other direct download website cause it only shows traffic between your ip and the website, as for torrent, they're specific in what content they have.

As for the letter that i've received from iinet, it was like a second-day release download (dl-ed something the day after it was released). I would assume that iinet received a complain from these companies (content + ip), and iinet merely forwarded it to us, thus no subscriber information to right holders released (which i reckon would trigger a large court case by thousands of users against their privacy over their internet traffics).

LOL, it's way more dangerous out there than Malaysia xD Just keep safe while facing issues like this.
*
Would you mind PM-ing me a copy of the letter you received from iiNet? If its an email, I would be grateful if you could copy and paste the contents.

The reason for my curiosity is that the CEO of iiNet has publically stated that iiNet does not pass on complaints from rights holders

QUOTE
The chain of emails demonstrates that Mr Malone discovered that Westnet had a practice of passing on copyright notices to its subscribers who had allegedly infringed, a practice which was inconsistent with the respondent’s policy. In internal emails, Mr Malone described such policy as doing ‘damage to the industry and damage to iinet’s [sic] position’.

Coles open on weekdays from 12am to 9pm, closes 3 hours for restocking/cleaning etc. This is true for weekdays only, weekends have a 9-5 schedule.

@Zeke, take the tram and head south. If u are taking the tram from Railway Station, it should be the 3rd stop. From Rundle Mall, 2nd stop. Will stop at Victoria Square. right in front of Hilton Hotel. Coles is just behind Hilton.

PS: walking isnt that far la sweat.gif 10 minutes at most.
