reporting in...
Student of UWA, western Australia...
im in my frist semester right now, studying Master of Commerce at the Business school in UWA
Just wanna share my experience regarding the accommondation, since i went there before my sem starts(3 weeks before) i managed to get my house near the business school.
It was hard and it pushes your limit to the end...luckly enough i managed to deal directly with the landlord...
it is best to come earlier first, since its hard to find a good deal for your accommodation. Trust me you'll regret it if you dont...

QUOTE(onelove89 @ Mar 11 2010, 01:56 PM) oh yes, its hard to get a good house, esp when it's near the campus. Those near UWA are super expensive. I lived near leeming last time. haha. haha you got that right, i had to pay 515 dollars per week for a fully furnished house with 2 bedrooms, 1 waching machine room and a parking lot... im kinda lucky since i have another friend staying together...therefore i only had to pay half of the price...im surprised that the university didnt provide enough space to accommodate international students...and yet their international student quota have reach more than 5,000 students if im not mistaken..

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Mar 11 2010, 05:35 PM) guess u staying at perth by looking at ur siggy..with $515pw at perth,i believe that apartment must b part of luxury? if i can afford $515pw for 2br at melbourne, i can easily get apartment without searching n also near to uni or inside CBD... nope, not luxury... its just a normal apartment... the problem is that these people are bloodsuckers...especially when it comes to international students... PLUS the area is located just beside the Swan river...its beautiful for outdoor activities, my house is nearby the matilda Bay... i've asked the seniors and the permanent residents before...and price range is about 300-500 AUD per week....

Helo guys,
Just wondering, does anyone here thinking of importing cars from Aussie to Msia?
im planning to do so,i just visited MITI website for the procedures.
so right now im looking for those who already have the experience of bringing cars from aussie to Msia.
Things that i wonder:
-How long will it take to release your car from the port(once it reached msia)
-Aussie procedure on exporting cars(looking for the website)
-Total cost of importing(everything, inspection, transport, all the paperworks)
Hope someone can clarify me on this.

QUOTE(immabee @ Feb 15 2011, 01:00 AM) Hahahaha. Just touched down to Perth not long ago. Got me quite a shock as I saw the city is even smaller than several Malaysia cities except KL though they have scattered suburbs and really quiet at late night. Needs time to get used with it. I understand how it feels to have the boredom. Was a bit moody area and clearly I have observed what you've just said. It's so true! Was not used with the chinese food here due to the portion and the way they prepared theirs, quite heavy. However, that's not the main purpose to come over to Perth. For my first impression, it's not really the place to be. But you'll never know. Let's just see what happens within a year. I'll keep you guys updated if I've the time. . Sry if you have spent few minutes of your life reading nonsense. Welcome to Perth, nice to see new people coming in.. which uni u are studying?

QUOTE(immabee @ Feb 17 2011, 01:13 PM) Aww man. Why are you leaving so quick xD. UWA is pretty good and good to hangout in ESP if you have friends. Met heaps of asians and ppl like Tom, d*** and Harry and myself take commerce mainly in A&F. *Faints*. Lots of Asians are taking accounting or finance major in commerce... But in international business major, you can really mix along with aussies, US, Russian and lots of European students... i guess international business really have broad "international" students in their class LOL..

QUOTE(haya @ Feb 18 2011, 08:53 AM) Guys, this is the Studying in Australia thread, not the Kopitiam subforum to discuss about the different brands of milk. While I appreciate the impact of the "milk and bread" wars, this is not the place for banal chit chat. I can acknowledge the odd tangential discussion to give a day-to-day perspective of living in Australia as a student, but in the interest of keeping this thread as clean as possible as so other people who do their research don't have to wade too much chaff of your musings. Try to keep this place informative rather than a stream of your thoughts eh? Bro, can you update the student list? put my name under UWA Perth, currently im taking my masters study there...thanks

QUOTE(immabee @ Mar 1 2011, 06:55 PM) Perth's weather is drying me crazy. As I have asked a few individuals about summer in Perth, they would see this time was one of the hottest summers ever. Thought my uni library would have air-conditioners everywhere as they wouldn't really need to use during spring, autumn and especially winter. But then, not that much.. just room temperature. Hoping to see some changes in season in days to come. =D Its not that hot compared to last year's summer, This year's summer didn't even reach 4+ degrees, plus there are some rainy days as well. Summer is almost over already, it will be getting cooler i think As a postgraduate student, we have our own computer lab at the business school (pretty cool air conditioning); i usually hang out in that room when im lazy to go back hehehe
