Use the "Finding a Visa" wizard on the home page: http://www.immi.gov.au
Assuming you are just a degree student, eventually you will be directed to this link: http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/students.htm. Read up everything. When you are done reading, you will understand where and how to start your application. To give you some heads up: 1. Start applying now -> you can stop halfway through and resume later. 2. When you have your eCOE letter, you can continue with your application. 3. After answering all the questions, make payment via credit card 4. Upon completion, an email will be sent to you (your first and last reminder...haha), requesting that you conduct a medical checkup. 5. Once the medical checkup is complete, the clinic/hospital will submit your medical results to the aussie immigration department. 6. You will be notified via email if your application is successful (you can check online via VEVO too). |

QUOTE(Shooterz @ Dec 23 2010, 01:22 PM) ok , thanks gome ya you just need to go and do the check up and the panel clinic will send the results to immigration and that completes the application and they will start assessing your visa application. After that wait a few days or at most 10 working days and you'll get notified whether your visa has been approved or rejected.basically , the authorized medical centre will deal with the aussie immigration about my results and if they accept it , my visa is complete ? thanks , didn't bump into this when i'm searching before |

the exchange rate from malaysian ringgit to australian dollar is increasing.
hopefully by january/feb, it will drop a bit. by the way, is it necessary to put foods in one separate bag (maybe for hand luggage)? |

QUOTE(alip_11 @ Dec 25 2010, 02:23 PM) the exchange rate from malaysian ringgit to australian dollar is increasing. If you're talking about incoming flight to Australia for quarantine, then yes packed and wrap all your foods in one bag nicely either as hand luggage or just inside your main luggage.hopefully by january/feb, it will drop a bit. by the way, is it necessary to put foods in one separate bag (maybe for hand luggage)? It depends as well, sometimes they will ask you to open your main luggage for inspection even if you carry your food as hand luggage, no biggie just take your time packing everything back ones you're cleared from quarantine. Nowdays, I do not bring food from Malaysia because almost everything is here, BUT I always buy chocolate in KLIA and carry it as hand luggage because the quarantine inspection at Adelaide airport is faster if you declared you're bringing food in. Anyway a little tip about the custom declaration if in doubt just tick yes, always. |

Thanks. you don't actually have to wait for an email telling you to do the medical check up. Once your done filling all your details on the online application and paid for the visa processing fee online via credit card,it will display that you need to perform a medical check up and chest x-ray at one of their panel clinics to complete your visa application. The medical checkup CAN'T be done prior to the issuance of eCoE. You can only do the medical checkup for the student visa when they tell you to do so which is after you're done filling in info and paying for the online visa application and the online visa application can not be completed without your eCoE. Am waiting for the eCOE, even though have already paid half the fees. The institution is waiting for physical recipt of academic transripts prior to issuance of eCOE. Problem is, they're on christmas hols till 9 Jan, and am booked to leave country 17th Jan. I should perhaps give them a call later this week, and hopefully someone will be working.Once your done filling all your details on the online application and paid for the visa processing fee online via credit card,it will display that you need to perform a medical check up and chest x-ray at one of their panel clinics to complete your visa application. After you've done the medical check up and x-ray, depending on which panel clinic you go to, they will immediately either submit the results online to aussie immigration or mail it to them. After that it could take as early as 2,3 days (if the panel clinic submitted the results online) or could take up to 10 working days for them to tell you whether your student visa has been approved or rejected depending on their workload during that time and January is kinda peak time when so many students are applying for visas so usually from what I gather it takes a week or so. |

I should perhaps give them a call later this week, and hopefully someone will be working. I did my medical checkup in PJ (LifeCare Diagnostics) on a Saturday morning, and by the following Monday noon, it was already up in VEVO. But I did all these back in November, and as Hikari0307 has pointed out, there will probably be a queue of students doing their visa now...so probably it won't be that fast now. A word of advice - do call up the medical centers/hospitals you intend to have your medical checkup done, before actually doing it. I called up about 5 clinics/hospitals/medical centers and a few of them said that they're no longer allowed to do medical checkups for aussie visa application. And all these 5 places were listed on the visa application page |
