Yeah was considering that or LogMeIn, have used both before on the iPhone but I had to tone down alot of the settings to ensure I got a proper connection to my PC at home via 3G (*office blocks ports when used over Wi-Fi).

Still wish that Apple would update its iWork suite to work properly, all I ask for is numbers and keynote to export back to MS format >.< and Docs To Go and QuickOffice still have not released an iPad optimized version of their apps yet, haih

Not too shabby, word is okie, tends to preserve more formatting than Pages. Excel works just fine. I have not edited PPT before so not sure, only viewed it which I now use Good Reader for. The x2 mode really does make the fonts look fugly and since it is only x2 mode and does not scale, it really does not take advantage of the screen estate. That's my experience so far. I keep hoping for an update.

Better to wait for the iPad optimized version to come along, I don't dig using the x2 mode for this app. They should have made it a launch app.

The default mail app isn't the best around that's for sure and also depends what kind of mail backend that you use. My company uses Lotus Note therefore the IBM Notes Traveler allows me to have push mail on the default mail app but I cannot accept or decline meeting invites and such so yeah some items for me still have to revert back to a notebook. I always ask IBM whenever I meet up with them when they going to make a full blow app for that.

log out of iTunes or if you have a fresh itune, just download a free app and you can create an US based account without credit card info. You can also do a search in the thread, believe a knowledge base article was posted there.

yeap you can, but albeit slower you can use the iPad charger to charge your iPhone as well.

It ain't a notebook replacement, think of it as being complementary. No it does not have any USB ports and it supports Microsoft Office formats via 3rd party applications or Apple's iWorks suite with information being available in the posts located in this thread so feel free to search and there is also a iPad app thread by String fellow so you can look into that as well.

Why the iPad? Pretty sure everyone has their own reason for it, I see it as an additional device to take along with me whilst leaving my heavy laptop at the office and being able to do some of my work. Again you may have to see how it fits into your life before purchasing one, to fit your life around it means it may not be a suitable purchase

Yes it is a competent netbook replacement but never a laptop replacement

Not sure about the July date, as I posted previously, Apple will make it available in Singapore in July and we aren't mentioned on that list so either we get it with them or we wait till August or heck no mention of anything going on in June so maybe we sneak in then

After watching the vid, I am tempted to JB my iPad just to see how well this would run Using the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard I tend to place the iPad away from me and I have to reach out to touch the screen to perform certain task, having this would alleviate that hehe

Edit: Just tried, dang if you want to use both the Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse you have to download the free BTstack Mouse and pay for the BTstack Keyboard because it requires your native BT be turned off lol

Edit: BTstack mouse works with my Dell BT TravelMouse but can see a tiny bit of lag but other than that works just fine, can't use the scroll wheel though.

Only applies to those countries listed by Apple for end of May and July. As we aren't listed the online pre-orders don't apply to us if not mistaken.

Yeap you can use that as well, but unfortunately once you jailbreak and use BTstack Mouse you realize that you need BTstack Keyboard as well and it is USD 5 for it lol, sucks to have to turn off the native BT to use the mouse, but I guess without official support this is the only way to go at the moment. works well for people who have the actual keyboard dock.

Using lite version of PCalc

erm, not exactly the best person to ask lol I used the wrapping service as recommended by String, but felt itchy to want the Apple case, so bought as well, found that with the wrap and screen protector it made it difficult to slot into the case, and even when i managed to, it was hard to remove to use with the dock so i swapped it with another forumer for a belkin pouch lol but most of the time it is naked with a nice plastic wrap akin to bodyguardz or IS.

Works fine for me, only thing at times when I tried to transfer more than 8 items in a row it doesn't transfer at all until i select a few instead. Could be once off kind of issue but other than that no issue.

Sounds plausible though, Singapore does fall within July timeframe, maybe we get stock from them as well hehe, our iPhone 3G were also previously from Singtel stock.
