Speaking of fingers, look at this piece of news.

MAN LOSES FINGER TO IPAD THIEF

Good to know this kind of thing happens not only in Malaysia, but also in the USA.
*
Considering that people or a person actually died being robbed during the US PS3 launch I say it is normal over there hehe happy.gif

A reasonable amount is from RM 2300 to RM 2500 as it depends on how much is paid to the person purchasing the device in the US and then of course the shipping fees itself. Also it is not tax free if not mistaken except for certain states in US that USD 499 of yours does not include tax yet in the US (*this is my understanding).

Bro,

You have a good sincere friend to buy for you at a very very reasonable price. You are lucky..... where as there are some sellers here exploiting the whole community by taking chance on all iPad lovers.... waiting to put my hands on one unit when time comes....or price go down after LYN iPad sellers calm down on their pricing..
*
I know we have been through this route before. Yes it is good that he has a friend who was kind enough to go the extra mile to purchase it for him and did not charge that much for it (*or if at all I am not sure). However most people who are bringing the device are either:

1) Business
2) Helping get the good stuff in and making a bit of profit at the same time (*sorry could not think of a better word for this).

Looking at the threads, there is a fair amount that falls in both categories. I have noted that the price of RM 2300 to RM 2450/2500 is a fair price to pay as there are other costs involved as well including the need to make profit. I paid for the device knowing about the costs and knowing also that when it does reach our shores it will be cheaper slightly but the itch to have the latest and greatest is sure bound to incur a slightly greater cost as well smile.gif

Probably when there is a launch date, the pricing will fall as people will start to wait for local units smile.gif

I can vouch for the quality of askarperang iPad case. I own the same epik case for nexus. It was okay. But the iPad case really impresses me. I bought clear color one and it nicely complements the iPad. The feels also really good and snugly envelope ipad.
*
Irwan I agree on the epikcase which I bought from him as well. I figure that this will have to suffice until we have our local launch and we will have greater variety of cases to choose from smile.gif For now this will have to do. Unfortunately for me, the screen protector he shipped to me had some dents so I was unable to get rid of the air bubbles in those areas. So I caved in and impulse ordered some Martin Fields and hope they arrive soon, my iPad screen is full of fingerprints hehe

Bro, myself also ordered the ePikcase from askar perang for my iPad, expect to receive it this late afternoon.

One thing actually concerned me on this particular Epikcase, i bought this epikcase for my iPhone a couple of
months back, really impressed with its build quality and the best thing is it is not costly. It fit nicely into my 3GS
and i happily used it for about 3 weeks. You guess what's next, in one occasion that i removed my phone from the
case & i got a shock by noticed that tiny scratch lines are all around the phone's chrome bezel.
I can't really understand how this could happen since the case did cover up the phone's chrome bezel area as well.
I stop using the case for my 3GS since then onwards.

Just hope that this Epikcase will not cause any harm to my iPad... sweat.gif
*
Not sure about the epikcase for the iPhone, for me I used Incipio and noticed that the chrome parts were all scratched as there is no soft lining inside the case thus when inserting the phone it actually contributed to the scratch portion. or maybe it was just my bad luck smile.gif

*
RM 119 for one and RM 236 for Twin pack. Shipping is free since it is above RM 68 but I paid RM 30 for the FedEx shipping.

That "thin wrap" is not some cheap kind. I would be wary myself if it is. It's high grade and make your iPad look like there's nothing protecting it at all. Scratchproof and thin, me like. I was an unbeliever until someone show the workmanship on his iPad. The point here is to get a good installer to do it. I got one on mine and it's virtually invisible!
*
Thanks for providing the contact details string smile.gif no time to visit the place yet, probably over the weekend.

The advantages applying thin wrapper is that the iPad still can sit on d apple dock.
Where else if u put a casing on it... I don't think d iPad will fit into d apple dock.
*
Confirmed, I put the Epikcase on and the dock is not able to accommodate the iPad unless you dremel part of the dock.

Wish they would make more boardgames for the iPad, seriously that screen space is begging for those kind of games happy.gif I wish they would port Catan over and why Gameloft release Blokus only for iPhone? meh would love to see more boardgames for the iPad, hoping someone at Fantasy Flight games will bring Arkham Horror over haha, use the same mechanism as the Scrabble game, the iPad as the main board, each iPod touch and iPhone as the individual character cards.... *faints from excitement*

MaxPC, appreciate a review on the screen protector. The ones available from in the forum are horribly oversized, Im not keen on doing DIY work on it to fit onto the iPad. Professional grade device deserves professional grade accessories.
*
Will do smile.gif Yeah I had to DIY the last one and since it had a dent in it I tore it off as I could not get rid of the air bubbles sad.gif I went to Lowyat today because I had an appointment there and looked around for a decent screen protector and could not locate any, either had to chop chop here or had to bend here meh but the one good thing was that I got my iPad wrapped and wooo what the heck was I thinking when I put a silicon case on it happy.gif ahhh the beauty of the device many many thanks to you for introducing the shop happy.gif finally can use with the dock.

Friends help friends, Max. Glad it worked out for ya. Professional piece of work isn't it?
*
Hell yeah, very professional job, only thing is that it doesn't fully cover the sides nearest to the glass but other than that I got no complaints, surprised that it provides a nice grippy feeling to it without compromising the looks. Money well spent. Now just got to wait for FedEx to cough up the screen protectors.

Hey everyone, just get a new iPad yesterday 16gb at rm2350, this is my first apple product.
However I have a problem, when I register Myself under setting store with Malaysia country, I have problem to verify the 3 digit security code, and the problem to enter tune or app store, it says my Malaysia is not supported by tune and app store?
Please help.
*
If you are planning to use the on device App Store as in the iPad itself, currently you can only use a US based account. My suggestion is to use a PC or Mac iTunes, download a free app which will allow you to create an account without the need of having a US based credit card. Instructions are available on the Apple knowledgebase available on their site. Once done, sync your iPad to your PC or Mac and you can access iTunes on the iPad via a US account.

You can also setup your Malaysian Account on your PC or Mac, then purchase items from the App Store via your Malaysian Credit Card then sync it over to the iPad. You cannot browse the Malaysian store on the iPad currently due to Apple restrictions.

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Apr 24 2010, 01:14 PM)
Impressions please, Max. Need to see it before consider any purchase. It's the glossy type right? How much did it cost you, and how fast did it ship?
*
Just placed it on the iPad, very easy apply which is what I was looking for when I got it for my iPhones previously. Yes it is glossy and not matte. When applied properly you cannot tell that there is a screen protector on the device unless you pay attention to the home button as the cut outs are most obvious there. After putting it on, I tried typing a long message on it, in fact typing this post out and I hardly left any prints behind so much easier to clean. Although the screen does provide a bit of resistive feel to it, could be my fingers smile.gif But had no issues playing games like Flight Control HD and N.O.V.A.

I made a point to see the difference with and without the screen and there does not seem to be any. Another brand that is roughly identical to this would be SGP.

1 piece is 119.95 MYR
2 pieces is 236.95 MYR

Shipping is free via Pos Malaysia since it is over 68 MYR but I chose FedEx shipping which costs me another 29.95 MYR. I placed my order on Thursday 12 noon and FedEx attempted delivery on 12.41 noon on Friday. So yeah I was surprised it came pretty fast.

P/S One good thing I love about Martin Fields is that I can remove and wash the screen protector and place it back again, unlike other brands except one from Case Mate if not mistaken. The thing is a perfect fit too, no need to DIY.

I assume you're ordering it from www.doml.com.my?
*
Nope I ordered via www.overlayplus.com/MY which will net you a confirmation email from sales@doml.com. I did not use doml.com.my. Email content should show the following:

Hi,

Thank you very much for your order with martinfields.com. We've received your order and it is being processed. Due to the high volume of fraudulent orders, we process all orders manually. This process usually takes less than 48 hours but for some international orders, it may take a longer time for processing as additional information maybe required for order verification.

For your reference, your order details and transaction ID is appended with this email. If you've any questions regarding your order, please reply to this email address and quote your order ID reference number in your email.

Thank you again for shopping with DOML!

FedEx shipping shown below, pretty fast.

quite high price ...

not really, I went to Lowyat on Friday and went to check out some screen protectors. Most of them were from China, either glossy or matte and some had to be DIY on the spot. They cost from RM 75 onwards so paying a bit more for Martin Fields was fine with me since I can easily remove them and wash them and unlike the rest, MF's screen protectors hardly show when applied.
