i can imagine the ipad would be terrible for your back and neck. I really don't see how this is going to be appealing even for the older masses.  Especially the older masses, when it comes to reading text in such a small viewing pane. Granted text can be zoomed in and out, but that completely misses the point of browsing through articles. Apple's ipad is making it such a hassle for browsers like me who skim through articles looking for something worth reading.  And to make matters worst, multitasking isn't supported.

Even if you are to hold it up to match your line of sight without straining your neck, the weight of the ipad is going to be a bother.  And the dimensions of the ipad doesn't work for mobile storage because not everyone would carry a fannypack.  It's easier to pocket an iphone but not the ipad.

This product is doomed to fail.

I think iPad will not be able to appeal and please all users. If this is the case, just don't bother to buy iPad.
Just wait for the next killer device (if any). tongue.gif

Come to think of it ... Actually I don't need a WiFi+3G version of iPad because my iPhone already have a 3G unlimited. Thus, I can use my iPhone as a WiFi to access the Internet with the WiFi iPad... ;-)

Based on my understanding, I reckon he is trying to use his 3G enabled iPhone as a wireless access point for the iPad. Not sure if it could work though.

i am not sure whether no tethering because AT&T does not allow it but here in malaysia i can my tether macbook via bluetooth.

so not sure whether can tether iPad with iPhone via bluetooth. anyone has an ipod touch and an iphone to test?
I have Jailbroken iPhone app called MyWi.
It turns my iPhone 3GS into a WiFi AP. Thus, I can use the iPad's wifi (when I purchase one in the future...hehe) to browse the Net. Thus, don't need to subscribe to another 3G line.

abit weird though, use the iphone so create a wifi network so that u can use ur ipad to go online....
*
This solution is excellent for people who already have:-
1 - iPhone 3G/GS
2 - Unlimited 3G Subscription
3 - MyWi or similar app.

This will solve the problem of:-
1 - Micro-simcard which our operator did not support
2 - Subscribing to another 3G unlimited service (if yr operator support the micro-simcard or if you try cutting the simcard into half).

Saves a lot of costs and risk.

edoras... then might as well just go online with ur iphone?
*
Hmmm... I don't think that question arises because its like asking "if you have an iPhone, why need iPad?"

As you know doing things on an iPad bigger screen is far better than iPhone. smile.gif

The iPhone is a way for me not to subscribe to another 3G unlimited package. Thus iPad wifi version is sufficient.
Just use iPhone as the modem/wifi AP....

Come to think of it ... do you think Apple delay the International release because they have no stock? or is it because the 1st batch encountered a lot of WiFi issues and thus will try to resolve them in the 2nd batch?

Just my 2 cents....

edoras, i think i still stick to my 3g + wifi model, as im iphone isnt jailbroken

But 3G simcard can't be use with our Malaysian celcos.
Will you take the risk of cutting the simcard to the size of micro-simcard?

You can buy iPad games and apps using your Malaysian Account on your desktop/laptop iTunes then sync it over. The on device iTunes app does not allow for users outside of US to connect to different country iTunes. Only some apps require to have US iTunes accounts like the Apple iWorks suite.

I hv a Malaysian itunes account but there is no iPad apps in the Malaysian store yet...

And hey! I am replying this post thru my iPad in a taxi!
Tks to my iPhone MyWi..!!! Don't need the iPad 3G version.. tongue.gif

R u sure Malaysia iTunes store doesn't have iPad App?
I've "try" downloaded a few from there using Msia account.
Really? I have both US and Malaysia iTunes account.

in US iTunes Store, iPad apps only appear in the App Store together with the iPhone apps.
However, in Malaysia iTunes Store, only the iPhones apps appear... Weird, eh?
