noob question here, wat is the equipments need for wedding photography??? any lenses suggest??
*
fast lens for portraits n still life (ring, flowers, bride's shoes, etc)

18-55mm lens shud be ok for group shots. flashgun would be useful. or if u can get tamron 17-50 VC would be better, probably no need flash for this

55-200mm for more 'candid' portrait i guess, not so important lah

whatever lens u choose must be AF-S, dun waste ur time trying to manual focus (assuming u're using dslr of this thread) so the 50mm f.18D is out

QUOTE(Cwz90 @ Mar 3 2010, 10:43 AM)
then wat is the mode normally use for wedding photography? Aperture priority? Manual??
and actually wat the flashgun is use for??? more bright on subject???
how about this lens, sigma18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC?? is it suitable???

sry, keep asking noob question, but i really dun know... haha... sry
*
nothing wrong with asking... we all learning here. this is not Dark Force thread ekekeke

what mode depends on what are u shooting, not the event. personally i'd use aperture priority n play with exposure compensation. since u had to ask, dun use manual...u need to shoot shoot shoot, dun waste time on manual

flashgun is to brighten the subject, n also enables u to use fast shutter speeds so u wont get blurry pics. can use bounce flash (if the location permits) to have better lighting

sigma 18-200 is okay but u need flash with it, unless the wedding is outdoors. pros will say the lens not sharp, but for most people it's "sharp enough"

so basically if i want a higher shutter speed
large aperture and a high iso sensitivity and apply flash, drop down exposure then increase when process
any other options?
*
if u can apply flash, probably u dont need to do the rest. u need them when u're not using flash

So in essence, AF lens and ends in whatever code has a build in motor?
*
nop nop... "AF" only mean can autofocus.. "AF-S" means got built in motor, so can AF on d5000 n below.

AF lenses (without -S) can only autofocus on body with motor, e.g. d90 n above

If D3000 with Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF, the AutoFocus will not function right ? Except this, any other part will affected ?  icon_question.gif

Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF & Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX, any other different except the built-in motor. icon_question.gif
*
mmm i think everything else besides AF shud be alright

another diff btween these two is on the 35mm, during AF, can just turn the focus ring to override with manual focus. no need to switch the A-M switch

that's probably it

ok, thx for yor opinion. flash gun for me probably not yet as mostly my shoots are outdoor day time.
*
the 55-200 is good for landscapes too if u want to introduce a foreground element, e.g. a boat on a beach. if ur'e using wide angle, the boat might be too huge n steal attention from the actual landscape. of course the downside is the narrower view

that lens also lets u get candid portrait shots from afar smile.gif shooting at tele end gives u minimum background, which is usually a plus point for portraits

the 35mm wont do much for landscapes i guess. u get a sharper picture of course, but then only a few people would notice this. for landscape i prefer the 55-200

wahhh... 3.1k for that.. ouch. sorry to hear that

juz remember next time ask here 1st. the price of the camera itself seldom get marked up...but the 'accessories' is the dangerous part. buy A together with B get cheaper price etc...

may i know the brand of the UV filter? if it's cap ayam one better dun use..sometimes these give annoying lens flare, spoiling ur pictures. wide angle converter also spoil ur pics :S

What is PP?
Ouch. harsh. Thanks
*
PP = post processing. meaning editing in photoshop, etc...

about the flash, hold down the flash button (at the barrel in front, above the timer button) and exposure compensation (behind the shutter) at the same time, n turn the wheel. on ur screen u can see u can go to -3.0 to +3.0

See. Now thats being helpful  thumbup.gif  Thanks!

Question, is it considered as good photography if we were to PP a picture with photoshop?
Doesn't it defeat the purpose of photography of capturing the essence of what is happening then?
I am just wondering....

Edit: Grammar Police!
*
welcome2 tongue.gif

well some competitions wont allow you to PP. but generally it's not wrong...even established pros also edit their pictures.

PP doesnt necessarily mean making funky effects or anything. most of the PP i do are pretty simple... crop, rotate, adjust white balance, probably dodge a face a bit, then add watermark

sometimes a "bad" pic can be saved in PP, probably juz by cropping away the unimportant parts, converting to black n white, etc. u juz need the patience to try them out

rm1500 is kinda high...
maybe rm1200 is more reasonable...
the 18-55mm kitlense itself worth rm600 to rm700 if bought new...so a new d3000 body maybe worth around rm1400,a used body should be lower...
*
d3000 body last i checked was around rm1700, this time with kit lens was rm2000. cannot do 2000 - 600 = 1400, ofcourse when sold with kitlens got discount tongue.gif

rm1200 if im not mistaken is used D60 price already
