If you seriously considered the subM, you should try to wake up at 5am and give Mark a call. Small ID company communication is kind of slow and you need to followup with them. I too need to call eD to get a confirmation on shipment and finally they are going to ship the item tomorrow.

pierreye,

I 100% agree that I shd put in more effort, but my only worry is if it is so difficult to get them to send a simple reply and follow up, god forbid, what happens when we actually run into problems?

Hi all sifus,

I was quoted RM1400 +/- for Velodyne Impact 10 subwoofer at A&L. Is this a good price?

Thanks
*
I had a friend who bought one recently below RM1300 but he bought speakers as well. If u can get them to RM1300 it shd be a decent deal.

Buy if U insist U want SW-250 PM me I am selling mine. biggrin.gif

I agree that the smaller subs probably cannot fill the area, however, with some time taken to consider proper placement, it shd be no pushover. Might not get the slam u r looking for, but still u will feel the presence.

Bro Anfieldude, yes I agree if I walk around the room to find the optimum place to put it, the presence is indeed felt. But the thing is I have a 2 1/2 year old toddler running around all the time so I need my place to be safe as well. So only place I can put it is in the front together with the rest of the gear. sad.gif

Hence, the need for a bigger sub. laugh.gif

2 1/2year old kids rule! I agree.

Sub 2 is monster.
Between Sub 1 and Sub 25 which one would be your take?
*
Have not heard either....so hard to comment.

So far, in all fairness the best subs I hv heard are Seaton's Submersive, SVS PB13U and the Velo SPL1200. In that particular order (for movies). The Submersive and the PB13U were a toss up and very close to each other, which speaks very highly for a 13" SVS since it has the power to match a dual driver 15" sealed. I regard the Rythmik very highly, but have not had the time to spend with one so a dual F15 shd be also good, if well set up.

Price per performance ratio, the SVS is hard to beat.

One of these days I would love to understand how well they integrate with music

Yes, the one in lyn is fake.

Now (apart from SVS), we have Kimber Kable, Cambridge Audio, Mission, XLO, Klipsch and probably soon, some really hi-end hi-fi stuff  wink.gif

Tks, bro.

We are offering home trial for Kimber Kable and XLO for 1 week. If it is not suitable with your system, just return it and have your refund. Tested out the Kimber PK10 Gold,  blink.gif  shocking.gif it's a revelation for music and even movie. Now, it is being tested with Krell and SF combo. We are conducting test on Kimber's RCA models against the XLO.

Bro, something that could be of interest to you :

Holfi FTW! htkaki, is this ur setup? If it is, how does battery powered sound. IMHO, Holfi is the closest reproduction of tube sound that is not tube based.

Hi sifus,

Want to ask what will happened to my below setting?

Jamo speaker S606 (8" passive subwoofer): 45Hz ~ 20KHz
Onkyo setting subwoofer: No
Front: large
crossover: 80Hz
Speaker & AVr connection: Bi-wiring

80Hz below signal will go to passive subwoofer? or just dissappear?
*
The .1 channel will not be present.

Dolby Standards does not allow for rechanneling ur subwoofer channel to mains.

The Jamo S606 front speaker build up with tweeter + mid range + 8" passive woofer.

So i do not exactly sure what is happened with my setting with
AVR setting (subwoofer): No
Front speaker: large
Crossover: 80Hz

So, i think .1 channel sure no with this configuration.
But all signal > 80Hz will send to front speaker, right?
And i lost all signal <80Hz as .1 doesnt exist or these <80Hz signal will send to the passive woofer in Front speaker?
*
Ur front speakers are set as large so it shd be full range.

Set the crossover to full range if possible, normally if there is no subwoofer present, it shd set at full range.

Did u run Audyssey?

Yes, i did run Audyssey and it basically set the crossover to 80Hz.
I think it set the crossover at 80Hz as it detect the surround speaker capability whereby it can only handle 80 ~ 20KHz.
Onkyo SR-507 doesnt allow me to set cut-off / crossover frequency for each speaker individually.

So, what is actually happened with my current setting?
*
Most likely, information below 80Hz is lost on all channels. Also LFE .1 is not channeled to the mains.

Edit : Removed double bass as it is not relevant.

Ur main speaker goes down to 42Hz. So ur satellite speakers are causing the 80Hz cutoff as you said. Nothign much can be done for now as it is the limitation of ur amp.

I would suggest getting a sub to solve ur woes.

n great subs are better than 2 great subs, 2 great subs are better than 1 great sub, 1 great sub is better than 2 average subs, 2 average subs are better than 1 average sub. (n>2)

Draw your own conclusion.

To add:

Also price alone does not mean its a good sub....

The ID companies seem to produce good subs that are much better priced.

So in short best shot will be SVS? (since htkaki is the dealer in malaysia) or SVS no longer consider as ID coz is commercialized now?

What would be the best bet for ard RM3K sub for both movie 70% (movie & concert 5.1 or 7.1 depends on investment based on limited budget) & music (CD, stereo 2.1)?

Rgds,

ID companies have their disadvantages. More and more ID companies are realising that serving the international market is more difficult that the domestic market. So in essence, to give some people who like to have peace of mind that there is local warranty available the appoint agents/dealers to serve far east markets. I think it is a good move. It also allows people so far away to actually hear the product 1st before buying.

I would advise you to PM htkaki as I believe he can work out something based on your budget for some demo sets (if avail) or a little extra to meet ur needs.

If u still do not want to, there are other brands out there like Sunfire, Velodyne and other who market the traditional way.

hi guys, can sifus point me to a shop/seller that able to ship subwoofer to Kuching East Malaysia?

my budget is RM800. I need those with RCA in and volume to be used with a pair of active monitors for music listening. No need too good, cos i just need the extra oomph.

Thanks!
*
RM800...is tough to get a active subwoofer. Even Velo's Impact 10 is RM1300. Why not check with Junwei in Kuching he might have something that someone traded in....

Anyone interested in PB-13 vs eD A7s-650 review? But it is in Mandarin done by Taiwanese. Note that PB-13 is tune at 20hz (by looking at the graph).

pierreye,

Any reason why they point the SPl meter upwards, its shd not matter too much but I was under the impression that it shd be pointed forward and slightly angled upwards...
