i read the previous posts saying that R501MKII can be used as a mini home theater speakers... and doesnt require extra amp...

i was wondering, since this speaker set cannot adjust the bass and treble (only can be done with software), how do i adjust it if i were to use this set as my home theater speakers?

please enlighten me.

thanks.

I'm planning to get the R501 MkII because I want something with a wireless remote biggrin.gif
How do I tell between the old version and the newer one?

Disregarding surround sound, how does the R501 mkII compares with the other stereo (2 speakers) systems from Edifier ?

Edit: One more question, which shop offers the best pricing for the R501 mkII in LYP? smile.gif

hey guys...just wated to share... i recently setup a HTPC about 2 weeks ago. heres the specs.

AMD Sempron64 2500+
Asus K8N-E Deluxe
Advanced Module 512mb DDR400 x1
Maxtor 40GB PATA HDD
MSI FX5200 GC
Samsung DVD Rom & Samsung CDRW
Powerlogic 500w PSU
Cheapo RM38 Wireless Mini KB & Mouse
Linksys Wireless USB Adapter
Edifer R501 MK-II connected to on-board audio
(yeah yeah i know...but trust me...this mobo has excellent on board audio when paired with the r501)
Panasonic 21" TV (Waiting for cash for a 29" or mebbe even a 34")
Some brandless 4 or 5 year old beige ATX Casing

this would be my 2nd unit for the r501. 1st one is still working excellently on my main rig.

anyway.. the HTPC is awesome man.... i have to say the speakers are excellent. they work well with my setup. watching movies is so so nice. so those of u who are planning to setup a cheapo home theatre i would definitely recommend the r501. best bang for buck IMHO.

i know i could get bettter sound with a better sound card... but trust me... this is good enough. no intentions of any upgrades... i even UV-fied the rig (pics can be seen HERE) yeah...i was on 3 weeks leave and had nuttin better to do tongue.gif

but of course... watching downloaded movies will vary depending on the encoding... some will have low volume some are alright. but its still a pleasure to just sit in bed n hear gunshots right behind your head biggrin.gif

loving it so much right now. muahahhaha

eh?? if u read the specs u can see that its just a normal PC connected to a TV and controlled using a wireless mini keyboard & mouse combo. its just that its dedicated for the home theatre only.

built it using spare parts i had lying around + some new stuff to complete the mix.

controlling it is like controlling a normal PC la.
