Because alliance bank cash back is given after next statement, when i issue my chq,i didn't check the statement the statement is at home,i called up automated phone banking to check my outstanding balance. Didn't know the announced amout is less than statement balance due to already included the cash back rebate.

In accordance with your above explication, the interest charged for EDDIEVH's case should be based on RM1987, and not RM2000. I have calculated the compound interest @17.5% per annum using spreadsheet, based on an outstanding amount of RM1987 from 11/12/09 (transaction posting date) to 7/01/10 (payment posting date). The compound interest should be RM26.85. This figure has not taken into consideration the interest of the balance RM13 yet to be paid.

Anyway, I guess he can request for waiver of the RM22 interest as he only owes the bank a mere RM13.
*
but still, i really thk the interest shud be base on the outstanding of RM13

hey does any one have experience where you applied for Amex plat cc instead they approve you with Amex gold cc without your consent?? I don't want to be forced to pay rm50 svc charge even if I cancel it
*
if it ever happens, cancel it straight away
i believe the bank will have to absorb the tax if applicable

my mom applied for citibank giant, received it plus another Citi master gold
now asked citibank to cancel both (coz not happy with the extra card), i'll see whether they dare to charge service tax or not rolleyes.gif

btw, citibank application super fast, applied at giant usj on sunday, received the card by courier on Thursday sweat.gif

Service tax is charged immediately after new card got issued, so you still have to pay for it no matter you use/activate/cancel it or not.
Nothing to do with "they dare to charge service tax" or not.

Please file a complain to Citibank and BNM, don't let this happen again and again. Banks SHOULDN'T do business in this way.
Imagine they get you RM1,000,000 loan (or may be another credit card) without your knowledge?
*
i'll wait for the statement to come b4 lodging the complaint

Since it is a pre-approved card, I guess you won't get charged with the service tax if you do not activate the card.
*
i hope so
but my mom did applied for one card, just that citi sent her two
dunno bogey bank or agent

oso the cards like no need to activate, the letter din mention anything about activating

QUOTE(winner @ Mar 19 2010, 02:15 PM)
An unpleasant news to those having SCB JustOne Account.

I used to earn choice points for SCB JustOne cc and balance from current account. However, I had temporarily stopped using SCB JustOne cc since my card hit the maximum cash rebate in Aug'09. Because of this, SCB has stopped giving me choice points since Sept'09, even though I maintain quite a huge balance in my current account. This is contrary to its T&Cs indicating that balance from the current account under SCB JustOne Account will earn choice points.

I enquired SCB CS but I was told it is solely the bank's solicy and the bank has the right to amend its T&Cs without getting consent from customers.

that's really bad, just spend a few ringgit every month next time

If the service tax has been charged and debited to the credit card account, can we request the card to be canceled and request the tax to be waived?

Another counter offer for the government tax from Citibank today for my Shell Citibank Visa and Giant Citibank Visa.

1) Pump up to RM600 (from march to May) at Shell on my Shell card and get bonus cash rebate of RM64.(on top of the usual 2.5% rebate)

2) Spend RM600 in 3 months (March to May) and get bonus cash rebate of RM60 (on top of the usual 2% rebate)

I guess we don't have to rush for the cc cancellation after all.
*
they called you to offer?

Maybe due to communication error ? I canceled cc from OUB, CTB, OCBC and EON, only EON bank can accept over the phone verbal cancellation and the customer service officer simply key into the system and confirm the cancellation on the spot. The three other bank requires fax-in cancellation letter. You must call the banks again to reassure they received your letter after faxing. Both OUB and CTB failed to receive my fax transmission twice.  doh.gif  doh.gif
*
maybe they purposely miss the fax rolleyes.gif
then you pay RM50 and decided to keep the card for another yr

That truly shows how EFFICIENT this bank is. If I were you, I would always call up the bank to check the cancellation status until the card has been officially terminated.
*
the problem is not all the banks will send you a cancellation confirmation letter (i thk BNM shud enforce this)
call to chk oso not really useful, given the HIGH inteligence of the CS, each CS might gv u different answer

they can't give you an answer
the exchange rate will be based on WHEN the transaction is posted, not when you make the purchase

how do we know what's the merchant category code when we swipe the card?

i ask because PBB cash back requires specific merchant category code to qualify, for example: 5411 & 5422 for Grocery

QUOTE(Aeon_Clock @ Apr 21 2010, 09:49 AM)
for those of you who remembered my case, I paid EXTRA when I cancelled my card last year. FOUR INNOCENT MONTHS later they charged me annual fees...that's why until now they keep charging late charges even though I called up to clear the annual fees. Every month the bill comes late and since February I have been calling up every month to get an explanation on why they keep charging me late charges. Its seriously ridiculous that after SIX LONG MONTHS I'm still trying to get rid of a bloody card.

Why don't I see Citibank giving me ANY trouble at all since I cancelled it around the same time as RHB card?? Bloody useless local banks mad.gif
