Finally.. astro called me about this byond..
they asked for my IC no and asked me whether I confirm to take byond...
I gave my Ic no and said wanna take byond..hehe...
The RM20 will need to pay starting from April 2010.. so 4 months free and for the first month after installation..probably January bill, there will be RM10 extra for stamp duty charge (one time charge only).
They promised to install new byond set within 10 working days starting from today...
I also want to keep my astro max decoder, so he said that I need to pay RM80 to the installer on the day of installation.

their business is booming, customers are queuing up to get served, economy definitely is recovering.

The selling of the flat panel screen (Plasma/LCD) also maybe will be increasing since Malaysia already have HD channels. blush.gif

the interesting part is the normal SD channel oso come with so-called HD reso.. with the side black bar that is.. why dun they just leave it in it's normal SD reso, so that can stretch using TV function.. :sigh:
*
if i'm not mistaken, some forumer here said that SD channel can be stretch to fill the tv screen... but need to "play" with decoder settings...

Me too received their 2nd call yesterday. According to the guy over the phone, the 10 days period (reduced from 14 days previously) is for the technician to call you for appointment, so possible that the installation might be done after 10 days if they call you on the 10th day  hmm.gif
*
Hmm... based on my previous experience when i subscribing astro max, astro promised for the installer to install it within 14 working days...
one week (less i think, just 4-5 days) after i order, suddenly the installer called me ONE DAY before he came to my house and install it...
but for byond... i don't sure lah... since the order for this things was so HOT! So many orders... (yeah..maybe because it was "free" item.. not like Max that we need to pay hundreds of ringgit to get it) cry.gif

You should read up on HDMI v1.3 specifications (which I believe the protocol ASTRO would be using). The reason why they want HD broadcasts via HDMI is because of HDCP
*
OMG!! My HD Ready TV if i not mistaken just using TYPE A (HDMI 1.0) (Panasonic TX-32LE8M)
but suddenly astro was using HDMI 1.3... so, it's means, my HDTV cannot support it la?? icon_question.gif
need to buy component cable like this adn i need to said goodbye for purely digital signal..... sad.gif

It can , HDMI v1.0 can. I believe it will work just fine. Did a bit on research of HD setup boxes about it. Yes

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Definiti...media_Interface
Dont worry , HDMI v1.0 states it can do HDCP , however it does not follow certain standards and its up to Panasonic. Long story short :-

Playback will work , however not sure if recording would work or not. Thats another question. I can't answer. As for watching HD programs , you dont have to worry
*
Thanks for ur explanation...
i really appreciate it... notworthy.gif

One thing I hate bout astro byond is the scoreboard and logo position. It is too center. The picture below is taken by my iphone.

I think TVB Digital version of Jade (not HD) in HK also look like that..
the logo was too centered...

could please snap picures for Natgeo HD, History HD and HBO HD... drool.gif

the b.yond remote can control the TV ( the home theatre) power on/off, volumne & input. It's like a universal remote.
Throw away all your remotes and use only the Astro one

oh.. ic...ic....
does it works will any TV or some brand only?
