i used component cable, try lower HDMI setting(576p/i) as well......but no SD CHANNEL improvement.
*
if i lowered the HDMI output to 576i/p.., the HD channel will become a bit blurry and not sharp anymore... sweat.gif
but noticed a bit only (about 2% ONLY) improvement on SD channel... blink.gif
so, i return to default settings., output to 720p...

Don't expct too much for RM20 extra ... take it easy la... it will get better over time. But I'm still thankful to astro for bringing HD to us... How many can afford Bluray to make full use of your HDTV...? I only have 10 BDs and already think I have spent too much.
*
Yes... i really appreciate astro when they launch their first HDTV service...
I really need it since i can't afford to buy PS3 , Blu-ray player and blu-ray dvd... sweat.gif
download hd stuff from net also seems not "berbaloi" to me because my connection just 512kbps.. how long should i wait for it to done... aiyoooo.... yawn.gif
and for now, i can 'drive' my HDTV to it's full potential... biggrin.gif not like before this, just watch normal SD channel and upscale DVD....
finally can watch natgeo in HD.... the scenery was really real...

QUOTE(azri @ Dec 29 2009, 11:58 PM)
Ok, wanna pitch in some input...

Registered a day after the launch. Actually registered through the web on the night but screwed up on the account number so registered through phone the next day. The day after registered, someone called me up for T&C. No offense but the lady was so loud and spoke like seller in pasar malam. I had to stop my car to carefully listen and had a good laugh too - she kept saying 'u ok sir?'  biggrin.gif

The installer called me on 26th but was out station  cry.gif

Called him back Monday but he said he's too tied up and can only do it today's morning.  thumbup.gif
My area is U5, shah alam. Installer is actually from Klang  shocking.gif  He says even assigned to install up till Puchong!

So done with the installation.

My dish had this dual connector head... or whatever the thing you call it - the box on the tip of the dish. The installer mentioned that astro probably gave it since I have 2 decoders at my home. Next time to upgrade the second decoder no need to install another dish. Later I found out that another home had only single connector. Not sure if this is important to you guys.

The installer was good. Used the device to confirm the signal. I re-use my concealed RG9 cable. I had lightning arrestor in between the set top and the wall but the signal test was low so he recommended signal amplifier (but ran out of stock) or direct connect without arrestor. Anyone know where to get this amplifier? other then jalan pasar? He quoted RM80.

Once done, he rebooted the decoder and said wait for 1 hour before can watch. Hands itchy and not long after he left, was fiddling around with the remote to control my TV and the astro unit was turned on - it was less than 15 mins definitely and there I was watching Spiderwick Chronicle in it's HD form... PQ looks great, makes it worth the Rm20. I had the same problem after that, feel like dun wan to watch SD channels anymore  icon_idea.gif

Checked the SD channels and I can concur with the rest that the SD channels doesn't look as good as earlier decoder - especially the local channel.

Strange thing is the volume button didn't really control anything. The screen shows decrease but the sound remains. I had to use my TV controls for that.

the box on the tip of the dish is called LNB (Low noise block converter) nod.gif
may i know, how much that you pay to the installer? It seems that ur set-up was a bit complicated since u're using 2 decoder at home...
u're using astro max or normal decoder as ur 2nd decoder?

For volume problem, actually you need to "program" your remote to act like ur TV remote...after you program it (actually it's not like program it la, hmm.. donno waht to say, maybe "combine" your TV remote with byond remote), you can just keep ur Tv remote... but just for the basic functions like controlling the volume, mute your TV, switch off/on your TV and change your TV input sources like Antenna, AV1,AV2,HDMI so on....
U need to read it on your astro byond user manual... if i'm not mistaken, it was on page 20 something... biggrin.gif

From Lyngsat.com, HD Channel from Astro currently not transmit using MEASAT 3A at all... It using Measat 3, just like normal SD Channel..and the polarization also still the same, not Horizontal, but Vertical again just like normal SD Channel...
What is the different for HD Channels is their compression method..normal SD using MPEG 2, and HD was using MPEG 4

And the same transponder as before... look below :

HBO HD, Nat Geo HD
TP 10982/V/30000 - This is the base transponder for Astro.

Astro SUpersport HD

History HD

** Is this means, that actually we can use same dish as before? And for those who are stay in condo/apartment with centralized dish, can use it to watch astro byond... hmm.gif

Any of you with Byond are using this dish?

I thought the new one was suppose to be slightly darker and larger than the old Astro dish. This one is connected to my Byond.

This dish just look like a normal astro dish.... shakehead.gif
maybe ur installer "tersilap" installing ur dish??
because byond dish was dark grey...
but how ur signal? everything fine? If fine, that's ok la... biggrin.gif

QUOTE(dannychen @ Dec 30 2009, 10:48 PM)
my case even worse.
11/12 - registered online
12/12 - cs called and said their staff will call me for T&C on 15/12
15/12 - T&C accepted
17/12 - First Installer called to arrange for installation on 18/12, but he insist not to install due to I'm having "Astro Max" and I can't pay him RM80 for installation charges and must return my Astro Max.
18/12 - 23/12 - Called CS every day and night.
24/12 - CS called and gave second Installer details, called second installer and at first he still said I can't swap my Astro Max to B.yond. Called CS and asked CS to contact their installer and got it installed on the same day. CS called at night to find out whether the Installation was done or not.

Successfully swapped to new decoder by not returning my Astro Max.

but the installer take out your old Max Smartcard, isn't it?
