Problem for 1080i.  What is the technical difficulty for Astro if want to broadcast in 1080p assuming their can get 1080p source.

Do Astro installer work on weekends (Sunday)?

hey guys...2day at around 9 a.m astro called...they said they'll be coming to my house to fix astro byond...so then later they came and they switched my decoder,dish and my remote-control(china-made)....the cable that goes from my dish to decoder no need to be changed...can use old one...and so...i'm now enjoying full glory HD...watched the love guru on hbo-hd....awesome...sports are also good...but i can notice that there are lines when there is fast movement on supersport hd

b.t.w : u can choose your resolution between 576i,576p,720p and 1080i....i'm now watching 1080i....but if i watch 720p....its a little bit blurry compared to 1080i....

sorry but camera got prob....dont worry...its really worth it....watching natgeo is really awesome... hehehe

Just been told the LNB and cable for Astro Byond is the same as SD version. So some installers did not replacing the cable to save the time and trouble.

But if your current cable is more then 3 yrs old, I would suggest you all request the installer to replace the new cable for you since it is free.

Finally got my byond today. Using my existing cable. no need to change. the installer give me the new cable & bracket. hook up with my onkyo. the sound is good for my ear. the picture so sharp and clear. for me the other channel slightly improve video quality. imho worth it to subscribe. hehehe

pic taken from my hp. what i found the sound is more clear & loud when i switch the setting digital audio setting from stereo to dolby digital. and the logo DD appear on my receiver.

huhuhu I just receive called from Installer to install at 3.00PM yahooo BTW Kajang area here.... Register on Monday .... T&C at Wednesday and on Sunday B-yond wohoooo... Maybe I got lucky because my area not many knows about B-Yond hahahahaha...     ASTRO. For a reminder for all of you... change everything even if they say no need..... trust me....
So the next 10 channels when it will be implemented?? What channel AstInst?

Ah! Unfortunately I don't know channels or anything like that. All I possibly can predict is that they will launch in batches of 5 as this is how many channels fit on one transponder.

I don't really have any inside information on this, my expertise is more on what happens once the signal has left their broadcast center and on its way to us.

I have done professional installations for nearly 20 years and helped trial many new technologies. I do have some dealings with Astro but not directly.

As a preview of what is to come look around the rest of the world! What was a surprise in their launch line up was Astro Super Sports HD, this must mean they have also installed some HD infrastructure to compile their own channel!

Also, the ESPN HD Asia feed is available nowhere else, are Astro the first to have ESPN HD Asia? I think they might be... note ESPN Asia is totally different to the rest of the world due to rights issues.

I agree, change everything, new decoder, new dish and new wires.. see my previous post... the new dish almost doubles your signal strength (especially as you cannot use splitters).

BTW: did you know that every splitter halves your signal strength, if you have 4 boxes and one dish your signal could be at one quarter the actual strength! which means more rain fade!

yes, the installer didn't change my cable. used the existing 1. my cable not so old because i already change the cable last year. dont' wont to spoil my plaster ceiling & redo the conseal.

The new cable I Think will make the signal stronger..... trust me... change the cable cause you will regret later and complaint..... good signal make your HD experience (picture and voice quality) better.... 40 minutes to go huhuhuhuhu.... I already put stairs and open my grill for the installer to come in ..... will update You all later..... BTW I'm using SaMMY 7 Series LCD.....

woot forgot to update here.... at 4.00pm I got my B-yond working..... Then it's raining heavy and no signal lost huhuhuhu lucky me..... Only 4-channel in HD supesport natgeo history and HBO so far so good .... can see the different quality from HD and sd very far indeed.... so satisfied.... hopefully the other channel will go HD faster....

C-band transponder is more reliable then Ku-band because it's not affected by rain but more expensive but the footprint is much smaller then Ku-band.....

Ah 1 more things... the installer said to me that they only install in Klang valley first... then outside maybe end of next week or 2 more week to go before they proceed.... huhuhu....

BTW anyone know if ESPN going HD how to update our decoder?? Autoupdate or must manually do it?

Can you use an unbranded 'ahem' normal old astro remote on the Byond decoder?

I don't like having the new remote to be in the hands of kids given how they love to throw stuff.

so does that mean that even if i didn't subscribe to the movie package I still get HBO HD until april ????? 

Called Astro CS, surprisingly they gave me the installer's name and h/p no.
Then i called installer's h/p. He said he didnt receive any installation instruction yet on my account.
He said need to wait for cust. list from Astro to installer.
So i have the installer's h/p no. but it is useless. sigh..

Online subscription on 13-Dec, T&C briefing and accepted on 16-Dec. My location: Ipoh,Perak.

diorang baru terima set decoder beyond hari ini..

maybe esok installer akan start pasang kat area kuantan/pekan

so, dia mintak no akaun / no. ic untuk check work order pemasangan decoder byond..

malangnya, diaorang kata nama aku tadek dalam sistem..

so aku call semula astro yang nombor 1300-82-3838..

aku tanya pasal status permohonan...

selepas 5 minit menunggu, diaorang kata masa orang yang call aku sebelum ni

dah silap masuk kan data...

so, aku kena tunggu call untuk t&c dan confirmation semula...

lepas tu baru diaorang boleh proceed application aku.. hadoi..

if byond decorder sudah sampai kat sana..

then, ask them to check if already hav work order for you..
