Yes you can, Until the next ban wave.
No you can't, microsoft will constantly read your console vital stats & flag your console to become a victim of next banwave.

No one knows when will a ban wave come, so far the only hint is when a very very big title launched.

There are millions of players claiming they can go online safely, but on the other hand, there are also millions of players got their console banned. So as long as you go online, there will be a chance you'll get booted, but how big/small the chance is? God knows.

I already told you it's a yes & no game for this.

Sadly, too many modded console out there in Malaysia and sadly, to Malaysian, gaming is not a big business.

That might be one of the reason why XBOX LIVE is not here...(but XBOX LIVE 2nd line support is here~~~~~ )

dont worry it will eventually happen when MS send out more ban wave that could brick a console , then the user would either choose from ps3/360 unmodded.

i have seen alot ppl go original because of that.

Once modded, I cannot update my console or download new patches right?

If I do connect to the internet, chances are my console will be banned by MS

it seems like there is more & more new modded user coming in day by day asking question than an original

There is no point getting mad. They should have did a proper research before buying the xbox.

For those modded, no it's never safe to go online. No matter how many time the firmware updates and keeps getting better, you can't outsmart MS. They invented it and they know how to find you.

So for universal answer, you always on the risk of getting ban. When you will get ban, nobody knows except for MS and god. If you want a better answer, try to google Xbox Scene.

Lastly, this forum doesn't support modded consoles and pirarcy. This is because our community are trying to move and support the gaming industries. And TS, please lock off the topic to avoid anymore flames.

Modding does not equal to piracy. Generally people modify their console to get root access (this includes iPhone , Nokia) and mainly to mess with core system files. For instance one may want to modify xbox 360 console to run linux but then generally an average Abu/Muthu/Chong would associate modding and piracy together
