To take or not to take profit, hmmmmmm.. any thoughts dmc? I still think china bubbling (2H 2010) + currency manipulation talks in early - mid April (near term) should be reasonable enough catalysts to drive the markets southward bound no? Choices choices .. lol
FXP my dear friend. FXP smile.gif

That's really up to you. It is a difficult decision - ie. when to sell stocks. As long you're not being too greedy, imo no profit is bad profit.

China bubble is growing.. inflation everywhere, but whether it will burst or not - it all depends. Their govt is hell bend on controlling it now. They've injected too much liquidity, now trying to pull it back. Sooner or later, they'll have to pull out the interest rate machine gun and fire it. Their equity market will fall. Same like US but at least it can control inflation.

playing HL..

on vacation this week.. what is your price for long ERX?
*
Waiting for it to least drop to 34/35. Oil and energy sector not moving at all. Natural gas is in the dumps. Just look at UNG.
Close to 52 weeks low, and it'll gets worse when the warmer weather hits US.

already shorted, but only 250 shares and sold at 8.38, shorted at 8.48. Just for fun.

I'm doing the reverse. I'm long FXP (which means short China).
I've bought XPP earlier to hedged up because crazy bull wanna to kill bears at open and try to reverse FXP gains from yesterday. Now, XPP got stop out at 66 (looks like bulls got cold feet at mid day). Small profit only and I bought more FXP at 8.3, thus lowering my cost average to 8.35 for this round.

Hopefully, I'm right by next week.

Good luck to all.

Closing update (5:05am)

Dow 10850.36 +9.15 +0.08%
Nasdaq 2395.13 -2.28 -0.10%
S&P 500 1166.59 +0.86 +0.07

Just logged back into my screen and found some green has turn red and red stays red. biggrin.gif
I guess the bulls aren't convinced they can go higher right now. Perhaps they should stall and turn back down. brows.gif

Still positive for my short positions.. will hold on till next week. laugh.gif

C may see $4.5 by end of this week if this crazy rally continues. rclxms.gif

Looks like China is on upbeat move again.. oh well, got to wait this out.

Energy sector may get a boost if Goldman Sachs upgrade 'em.

Problem is dollar has been high since last wee, so difficult for Energy price to move higher.
Only if we see Dollar moves down, we can see energy prices rally up.

Yeah, I'll be watching ERX/XLE/OIH and Crude Price and Dollar.
Hmm... suddenly, Europe (FTSE) is tanking. hmm.gif

Anyway, remember guys, the big numbers (employment coming this Friday evening). Whether bad or good, but we won't see any
of the effect until next Monday morning because - stock market close for Good Friday holiday in US.

Same here.. Sold 4.38 at open with trailing stop. Wash it and rebuy back later.

Is the buy and hold strategy dead?  Even Mutual Funds Are Edging Away From Buy-and-Hold Now

It depends on who you talk to..for some BUY and HOLD for the last 10 years.. it broke even.
But, if you bought and hold only since last year during the worst dip in March. You probably gained 40+%. biggrin.gif

Closing update:
Dow 10895.86 +45.50 +0.42%
Nasdaq 2404.36 +9.23 +0.39%
S&P 500 1173.22 +6.63 +0.57%

Amazing.. another new high in closing. This bull not giving up at all.
Today, finally, we see commodities rallying - Oil and Metals (Gold, Copper, Silver). biggrin.gif

Playing HL and ERX..

No, I'm just going against the grain now, playing a bit bear - since stocks are too high now.
I'm hoping we'll pull back to 10700 before going to 11000. But, I may get stop out.

Been away for a couple of days, market still as exciting as ever ! smile.gif Sold mine at 4.32 sad.gif Good trade guys, rinse and repeat aye? What price u guys gonna re-enter at? Below 4s?

Bought more too @ 7.85 LOL, average at 7.96. With Hang Seng down, let's hope it flies tonight smile.gif Good luck to us smile.gif

Good. I can see FTSE Xinhua China25 is down 42.08 (-0.23%) only. well, if Dow or S&P follows through with small pullback and if FXI pulls back, then FXP will rise.

This bull market has been pretty strong. On the technical chart, China market is bearish with 50MA already crossing below the 200MA but their govt keeps the money flowing.. just like US. Bears have to play short term only. sad.gif

As for C, if it pulls back below $4, I'll buy more... gosh. just two months, I was under water, now, I'm playing C with the house money. brows.gif

LOL! Nah.. he said it was a typo.

Anyway, tonight pullback is lame. Most commodities stocks (Oil, Metals) aren't retreating. sad.gif
The dip buyers are supporting it. Infact, some went higher.

I wouldn't be surprise if we close green.

I am playing ERX and FXP..

Looks like FXP going to drop.. about to sell it..
*
No ERX for me this time. This thing isn't moving much.

F (yes, Ford) looks attractive now. Bought some at $12.55 with stop at 12.20.
Looks like a sudden huge plunge tonight but quickly corrected. Must be some error.

Update: 12am
I'm out: FXP 7.85 (small profit) Market's coming back.. doh.gif will try again later.

I think so.. the dip buyers were standing by. Bad unemployment jobs and manufacturing report doesn't scare people enough to sell yet. We may not see real dip until the Fed unwinds its liquidity from the market - ie. Interest rate.

Are you still in FUQI? I don't think this thing will move until they report on their "actual" earnings. biggrin.gif

Asian markets are up at the moment.. sigh.. bear oh bear, where art thou? Hopefully by Friday's jobs report smile.gif

The bulls are getting another push up. Initial claims are down.. even if jobs report are bad, it won't see any effect until Monday.

Anyway, I think Dow 11000 can be reached by next week. Don't short now. Wait. nod.gif

Guys, any experience with US stock market simulators?
Which would be the best paid / free web-based / software based simulator?

Thanks in advance!

Try Yahoo Finance (free). You can enter your buying price and it will track it for you. Not real time but 15 mins delay and closing price should be good enough.
