dmc, i have the same feelings.. today market will end green..
Yup, decided to get some ERX at 41. Not the lowest but heck, the intraday push up looks strong.
Also, loaded some more TCK @ 44. Seldom does this (average up) but this stock is too strong to ignore.
Another upgrade today:

If no bad news from Friday evening, I think they want to take Dow to see 11K again.
I'll just let my recent purchase ride up.

Sometimes I hate bull market. No volatility, lesser chance of making more money.

Good luck to all! yawn.gif

Good evening guys, looks like stocks continue uptrend. Going to retest Dow 11K as early as next Monday.

C has gone above $4.50 tonight. rclxms.gif I think I'm going to let this ride. We shall see $5 soon.
Good luck to all longs! tongue.gif

The jobless recovery is indeed becoming a fact for most Americans. At my call center, I get calls everyday from ordinary folks b****ing about their inability to pay and I have to turn them over to the collection agencies. Unfortunately, that's a fact. Wall Street is actually in delirious bullish state because the govt keep pumping those "less bad" or perceived good numbers. But, I have doubt that this will last much longer. The major state like California is financially in such dire traits, it is almost like Greece itself. We'll see a major correction later... brows.gif
The bears have to be little patient for now.

wanna ask, trading in us is trade using usd right, i see us stock alot of share also exp. they 1 lot is = how many shares? i see why the shares over there buy n sell volume so little? something like 0.04 buy volume , then sell volume 0.02
*
Yes, trading in US is in USD.

1 LOT ? biggrin.gif
AFAIK, there is no min. 1 LOT (~100 shrs) thingy like KLSE. You can buy 1 share and 1 share only. tongue.gif

For example: 1 share of AAPL cost $240.75 (USD).

Low volume? hmm.gif It depends on which counter you're looking at.

Look at C, the bid/ask volume is huge. The cheaper the price, the larger the volume.

Pennies stock like those you see in KLSE are worthless at NYSE.
Institutional investors usually stay away from them. biggrin.gif

Update: 2:00am
Got stop out from ERX at 43.50. Oh well... couple of hundred for weekend is good enough for me. doh.gif

Closing update
Dow 10997.35 +70.28 +0.64%
Nasdaq 2454.05 +17.24 +0.71%
S&P 500 1194.37 +7.94 +0.67%

Look at that! Just throw 3 points at the Dow and let's call it 11K! rclxms.gif

Note to Zamans: See the announcement from ProShares on URE. Reverse split next week.

we have discussed about IB before, but minimum balance is US$10k, not for small prawn..

are you IB subscriber? mind sharing your experience with the broker? I'm sure DMC and zaman might be interested to know.

"Customers choosing to subscribe to US non-professional real-time market data will have the USD 10 (or non-USD equivalent) monthly market data subscription fee waived if they spend USD 30 (or USD equivalent) or more in commission for the month."

By the way, for me as small prawn, using Sogoelite with help from OptionXpress is already enough for me.

Added on April 10, 2010, 10:13 pmzaman and dmc: what is your take for AA report on Monday?

long or short?
*
Well, AA is expected to earn 11c for 1st. Qtr 2010, which should be better than last year.
The factory orders for raw aluminum has improved since last year esp. from cars manufacturers.
If AA can meet those demand 1st qtr, they should meet those target otherwise it is going to be the next quarter.
The important thing here is the outlook going forward.

The market is in overbought territory. I expect it to pull back again this week but how much, I don't know.
We need a correction now but it may or may not happen because we're in earnings week.

They expect earnings to be good, therefore will push the Dow over 11K and stay there for a while until late June.

Bought some PTIE @ 6.17 at open this morning for core long (means not for trading) portfolio holding.
PTIE is pharmaceutical drug company. Hopefully, they'll have breakthrough shortly - with FDA approval for their skin cancer treatment drug.

Added on April 12, 2010, 11:48 pmYUM is currently being sold pressure..

seems like people to trying to take profit a lot..
*
I've some YUM now, averaging 33 - holding since last year.
Not sure I'm selling yet. It broke out above 36 last month.
I'll sell some if it gets to 42 and get more if gets back to 36/37.

YUM is slow moving but good for long core portfolio.

Bought 150 BAC.. at 18.77..

Will only sell it tomorrow.. no  more day trades..

what do you think?
*
Sure, why not. Scalp some before earnings.
I expect banks earnings to be good to excellent during 1st qtr.

Closing update:

Dow 11005.97 +8.62 +0.08%
Nasdaq 2457.87 +3.82 +0.16%
S&P 500 1196.48 +2.11 +0.18%

There you go, 11K at closing. rclxms.gif What next?
I guess, we'll wait for more "good" earnings to power this up another +250 points all the way to Dow 11250.

AA - at close, looks like it met the street expectation of 10c/per share for 1st qtr. Still losing money but losing less this time. The one time charge sounds fishy to me - prolly just to tell the govt this health care thingy is costing them money, they're hitting the investors pocket, not them. AA probably needs another 2-3 years before regaining back to its glory days of $40/shr. But, for those who bought AA last year around this time probably already double their investment.

Then get UYG for those looking into leverage on C and BAC.

This I agree. UYG is good 2x leverage if you're bullish for financials and it will be more volatile after the reverse split.

Looking for long term investment (I believe in peak oil).

I always hear about oil having 1 month contract. Are there are also unlimited duration contracts for commodities?

Thanks!
*
Technically, there is no "long" term investment for Oil.

Oil futures contract run from month-to-month, closest is 1 month in future, furthest is 12 months away. I heard there are some even 18 months but I've not encountered that. When it is due for delivery, it gets rolled over (to the next month or cycle) (you sell current month, buy future month) - be careful, the price fluctuation and fees will eat into your gains here!

For unlimited duration for oil, you can have them delivered but you need to have huge backyard where they can deliver those barrels of crude oil to you or an oil tanker. tongue.gif

Let see if it can move back up. laugh.gif

No reason at all. It is just a "goreng" aka speculative stock for now. Was hoping for quick ride, that's it!
Now, the ride is over. I'm out. sweat.gif

Infact, some analysts still holding bearish view. It was quickest rise and fall in two days I've seen.

Yea, JPMorgan released to it's clients that ABK is a no value stock, hence further downward pressure. ABK is purely speculative and just for momentum trading. Investors saw PROFIT of EPS 1.93 and all flocked in, ignoring the fact that they might go bankrupt by the second quarter of 2011.

Wow, Market totally flipped! With Intel posting such great results, wonder how the market will fare tonight eh?  hmm.gif
I've been using this website quite a bit to spot pre market surges, Day Trading Blog. So far it has been pretty beneficial, like KERX was a pretty good play for the past couple of days. SSN as well.  thumbup.gif The author gives pretty good information on technical analysis, Baltic Dry Index (Dryships is a pretty good trading stock), mortgage rates, LIBOR rates, closing market remarks, stocks to trade (Penny & OTC stocks as well) and etc.

Good luck to us all tonight smile.gif Hopefully C will ride with JPM's most probably good earnings report  thumbup.gif

If C rides to $5 or near $5, I'll dump 3/4 immediately then, I'll go
for abalone and shark fins soup dinner later. brows.gif

I used to like DRYS, play it couple of times last year but dumped it after its CEO bad mouth investors.
For shipping, I prefer DSX, better value play and better balance sheet. Like DRYS - if Baltic Dry moves, it moves along.

Disclosure: I own DSX - holding some at 14.25 biggrin.gif
