what actually is the main component does he/anyone have to watch out when buying DSLR?

whats the most important thing? hmm.gif

and do you know where to buy near the Utar petaling jaya there? hmm.gif

and is cannon 100d really sufficient? hmm.gif

Ask in Canon thread blush.gif .Me just PnS user biggrin.gif

Thinking again, why does the teacher insist on a DSLR?A manual PnS should be able to do the job also hmm.gif

Just wanted to know, at first i planning to buy canon 550D, but cancelled my plan, so maybe will save money first. Friends suggest me to upgrade to 50D, i know 50D is way better that 550D, but i had try 550D, i feel it very ergonomic, so how 50D feel like? Anyone can share? From the look, it feel so big n bulky

Do ask in Canon thread smile.gif

Hard to focus? Were you using the correct settings such as macro focus-"spot" and within the minimum focal length?

How about using manual focusing? hmm.gif

Well, macro shots are pretty much beyond PnS capabilities but for your camera, i think there's a close up(macro) conversion lens right?Try searching for Raynox DCR-250

Mind posting some of your "macro shots" here? mellow.gif

Haha i think you need Raynox DCR-250 liao~

When you're zooming, there's the minimum focal length like for my LX3 when at its longest zoom(60mm)/2.5x i need a minimum distance of 0.3m away from my subject, thus making it hard to get a good macro shot

That's why you can focus easily when you're not using optical zoom right?

Time for a macro lense xD .Go search it up smile.gif

Or you can always crop your image like mine here ~~ tongue.gif

If you're worried about that, then by all means go for the new Canon S90.But, don't expect the performance of the LX3 smile.gif

But at the end of the day, as Image Quality is the priority, and where does the HS10 stand?

lol of course, the 550D will beat the crap out of that D3000.D3000 is Nikon's cheapest DSLR while the 550D is marketed as a mainstream model mellow.gif

Don't listen to your friend. He has no idea what he is talking about rolleyes.gif since you're comparing two models from a totally different market segment

Since your budget is 3k, 550D will be the best choice with 18-55 kit lens smile.gif Ouch...one more thing, you'd better allocate more funds for a decent bag, external flash and more lenses drool.gif

Hi all,

Appreciate your help to give opinion what model should i take. I never play any DSLR previously, only have 1 Panasonic lumiz TZ-7 due to better optical zoom. trying to get into DSLR world as the picture DSLR take is far better the normal Digi-Cam. any comment?
*
I hear people or reviewers saying that 550D is good for beginners or those who is entering the DSLR world for the first time. Can't vouch for that as i do not own it tongue.gif

By all means, go for the 550D with standard kitlens starting at RM2.4K,then get some accessories.Any other enquiries, ask in Canon thread biggrin.gif

18-135mm just gives you more zoom, otherwise the 18-55mm can pretty much do most of the job smile.gif

im going out to teman my fren buying his PnS camera tonite, i read few pages back, for budget rm800-1000, most ppl will suggest panasonic LX3 and canon S90.

is there any more better suggestion, from other brands maybe, so that i can give it a try later?

just realize both lx3 and s90 are >1k budget  sweat.gif
*
I do think the extra $$ is totally justifiable by the Image Quality and what you get in the LX3 and S90 smile.gif

I would prefer one that have all the function in it already, so that i do not need to upgrade any lens, speed light, etc....

which will be most recommended?

And Sony NEX3 got swindle screen?
*
If so, i guess like what you mentioned-LX3,S90 and G11

S90 would suitable if you want something small, that slips into your pocket well biggrin.gif .If you don't mind the bulkiness, then LX3 or G11 is the way to go. Generally, the three of them are similar in performance,so do try them out and see which you like the most smile.gif

budget around 1-1.2k
what series(model) of slr can i get?
*
Don't think you can get a DSLR with that budget?Try topping up to around RM1.6-1.8K smile.gif Not too sure about the lastest prices of the D3000 or 1000D

Else, there's always manual PnS what biggrin.gif

Maybe you should spend another few hundred RM for a 550D body at RM2.4K.Definitely much more superior than the 1000D/D3000 nod.gif
