For healthy burgers, make your own (there are many good recipes, including a nice one from Jamie Oliver), but usually its more convenient to just buy one. I admit to buying some nice road side burgers (past favourites: Ramly at Kg Baru near the mosque, Ramly at Bandar Tun Razak near BHP petrol station;  current favourite: Otai at Desa Sri Hartamas), once in a while. Tastes good after all (probably the MSG,  laugh.gif ).

You are right about the fat content. The world famous burger joint standard for it burger is 20% fat. Without this fat your burger will taste like cardboard. It won't be juicy or tasty. Which is why nowadays we have seller adding mayo to enhance the flavor. We all know mayo is made mainly from oil.
I also do know some roadside burger stall use the cheap '10%' product. The 10% signifies only 10% of the patties is the real meat content! ohmy.gif
The rest are mostly flour with additives, fillers, color and flavoring. Did you notice how red some burgers are! And this is even after cooking!
If you cooked real red meat, it will turn brown but not this special burgers. So guys do watch out.

For those who don't want to mess around mixing the lean meat and fat meat. And if you like McD's Quarters which is 100% beef, loves to cook and like to eat it fresh at home, you can buy the patties at major hypermarket. It is label under 'First Pride' in the frozen section. Same label for their chicken and fish nugget.
The patties is very easy to cook. Use a flat non-stick pan. Once hot use only few drops of oil to grease the pan before frying the patty. Only 3 minutes for each side. It is like playing 'Cooking Mama' laugh.gif
Once the patties are cooked, the bun toasted, how you want to set up your burger are up to you imagination!
Enjoy!

The patty you mentioned are expensive smile.gif Almost triple the price of Ramly patty. First Pride and Marina burger patty are good to go.

Expensive? No really if you actually go the the market and check the current price of imported beef. Then you should be asking how certain burger patty are so DIRT cheap. The question is 'Is there any meat at all in 'em patties'! Dirt? wink.gif

Like I mention do be careful as to what you are actually eating or drinking.

Haha...If compare to imported beef, then its cheapo lar. I meant expensive compare to Ramly burger. Those 1Pride/Marina Salisbury Steak are priced about Rm8+/4 patty while Ramly can get 10 dirt thin slice for just Rm5+. Of course grind imported meat for burger in Bangsar Grocer/Cold Storage are about Rm9+/100g which mean 1 sliced could be Rm8+. biggrin.gif

Of coz la there is difference. There's also a difference in the quality of meat. I seriously doubt that Ramly burger patties use high quality beef. Not at the price they are selling for, anyway. I've made burgers that are just as tasty using high quality imported ground beef (mixed with partly sauteed onions, coriander seeds, cumin, etc - as per Jamie Oliver's recipe). Costs more but I would say definitely much healthier. But once in a while still get the cravings for that street Ramly burger... variety is the spice of life! thumbup.gif

Imported beef from Indian is cheaper than local produce. Current it is about RM12 per kilo. Bear in mind the burger patty manufacturer MUST make at least minimum 35% profit NET!
You do the maths and own self figure out what really goes into those cheap burger patties.

it's good but not worth it.

i ordered their cheeseburger which is like RM 25.

it was tasty but..........

wendy's 3/4 pounder tasted better at far less cost

chilis / tgif's burder tasted better at 4/5 the price as well, bigger in everything too.

try Betty's Midwest Kitchen. their cheeseburger is pretty much like the one at Meatworks for only 3/5 the price.

haven't got the chance to visit for a proper meal but yes, so far good reviews.

i went there for a small gathering just a month or 2 ago, even their mini burger tasted nice.

yes Aman Suria. same row as Kayu, just towards the other side.

the other day i also tried Zouk KL (the gardens) american burger or something, it was alright. nothing to shout about. decently tasty.

meat i ordered medium also come out like well done anyway. tongue.gif reminds me of Meatworks' burger but a little bigger. The interesting part about that Meatworks' burger was that the cheese envelopes the upper half of the beef patty.
