For customers using 1 Mbps combo package(rm 110), upgrade to 2 Mbps for free for first 4 months...then 5th months onwards...add rm 10(rm120)..

I guess they get RM99 from 1Mbps with modem package. hmm.gif

Just saw this promotion when i was thinking to downgrade my home 512kbps to 384kbps since not much using it.
But will upgrade my combo 512kbps to 1Mbps. I guess TM re-pricing their streamyx package next year?

I'm using the 88 1mbps line....but I can't see any 88 upgrade to 2mbps...

So, if I upgrade my 88 become 98 / 100 lor? Or they simply said all 1mbps is 99 now? Better dun upgrade....later they found out mine is still 88, they will increase it to 9 -.-"

Yeah, mine is 88 as well. If follow 'previous' bill then should be 88 then add RM10 for 4th month onward. Better ask before upgrading.

Anyways, whatever the base price is, the upgrade package is still much cheaper than normal packages (140 for normal, 120 for upgrade package; 2Mbps line. Price based on Combo Packages.) and will still be cheaper even if on Standard Packages, of which I don't think can even upgrade to a normal non-combo packages anymore (which is much much higher than combo packages by the way). Correct me if I'm wrong though. But will be better if can actually get the real price of the RM88 brows.gif

what i can see is not really worth unless you upgrade from 384 to 512.. as for me using 1mb rm77 per month, better stick to it as 2mb already nid add rm22.. almost same as without this promotion

Its not about how much you need to add up, its how much you'll save.

Take a 1Mbps to 2Mbps for example.

Normal 2Mbps Combo Package: RM140
Upgrade for Combo Package: RM120
Upgrade for Standard Package: RM110

Save if on Combo: RM20 per month
Save if on Standard: RM30 per month

The saving for standard package is against normal combo package as I don't think can upgrade to a standard package anymore. Correct if I'm wrong though (of which becomes better since standard packages is much higher).

Although yes, its not exactly 'add RM5 or RM10' for the next higher speed, but compared to normal upgrades, this is a good offer.

Though in some cases like yours where you're on the RM77 1Mbps promotion offer, you need to add quite a lot more. But compared to upgrading normally, this is a good offer. Imagine from RM77 to RM140 for 2Mbps in which this upgrade will only goes to RM110. Better offer right?

You forgot one important thing there, what about the line rental charge? At least for combo, 4Mb/s is RM160 per month inclusive of line rental which is RM25. If you would to upgrade to the same package from a standard package under this so called new promotion, the end result is you're still paying RM130 for 4Mb/s and on top of that continue to pay RM25 per month for line rental.

So for the same speed:-

Streamyx Combo for 4Mb/s = RM160 (inclusive of line rental)

New Streamyx Promotion for 4Mb/s = RM130+RM25 = RM155

There is a RM5 savings but bear in mind of any activation fee (RM75) and installation fee (RM88) that you might need to pay for an upgrade. Further you will need to subscribe to this package for 24 months whereas for Combo it is only 12 months. I would say the savings is practically negligible.

The biggest joke is the upgrade to 2Mb/s. With or without the modem, the price is the same rolleyes.gif

If customer terminates Streamyx service within minimum subscription period of 24 months, an administrative fee of RM350 will be charged to customer’s bill...

Let say if HSBB available next year at your areas, and the price is temptating. U have to think twice about that upgrade. Terminate streamyx to go for HSBB, and RM350 gone...

So unless it includes line rental, you're actually paying more to get the same speed in a Streamyx Combo package. Looks more of a con job to me.
*
For standard package, its RM130 for 4Mbps, not RM150.

RM150 is for Combo Package.

In any case, I didn't include the rental since that has always been something to bear from the very beginning. Why must it be included in the calculation?

Yeah I did thought about this too, but since I don't think HSBB will be coming to my area within this 2 years, I don't see a problem there biggrin.gif

To ISP, we are now in the age of IT, how do we compete with other countries if we are still being provided with lousy internet services (slow connection, instability of the connection and expensive package).

We have ard 20 millions of people, let's say 10millions sign up:

Future package:

100MBPS (basic min) = RM100 per month unlimited and without fair usage policy (lol other countries doesnt has this policy)

10millions x RM100 = RM1,000millions of revenue per month.

With economic of scale, who say ISP can't make money?
