@carbonfibreif you are asking if its better than using component, yes because component signal is analog, and your TV is digital - so if you use component, the signal has to be converted to analog first by your display card, then back to digital in your TV so it can display the picture. This may or may not produces artifacts, but it is always better not to mess with converting signals between digital and analog domains.
By all means, use the DVI-HDMI cable, or an adapter
